To all the veterans, active duty personnel, reservists & their families:

A huge THANK YOU to you for your service to our great country. Without you & your sacrifices, my family would not enjoy the freedoms we do today.

I come from a family w/several veterans - my father's father, my father, several uncles & cousins & my DH. So to them & to all the other veterans - you have our utmost respect & gratitude.

Rhonda G

My mom's a Navy veteran, my uncle is an Army veteran, my great-grandfather was Army, and my brother is an Active Duty Marine. My FIL is retired Army.

So far, we're missing Air Force and Coast Guard in our family tree. Thankfully, we have not lost anyone in service.

Oh, and no, we don't watch football when we're all together. ;)

Good afternoon everyone! I hope everybody is having a splendid day!

So, I was on my local news channel's web site and I came across this piece of news about a guy selling ghosts in a bottle. I found it interesting and they had a link so I clicked on it. Here it is.

It's interesting. :scared1: Not for me though! LOL!!!!!!!

Just thought I'd share that!!!

:)

Ok for those of you who booked through insuremytrip.com what company did you go with? I really need to seriously start looking at that site again and make a decision.

I am interested in knowing also. Jeninpa and myself need to make this decision this week.

My problem is: I do not know how much insurance to purchase for medical and medical evacuation, etc.

:confused3

If you need pre-existing condition waiver. There is a smaller set that will give you the coverage if you get the policy within 24 hours of final payment. Others have conditions that you get the coverage in X days from initial booking.

I plan on getting the CSA freestyle luxe policy.

Haven't been around but

Congratulations to Jen and family, and many blessed years to baby Sarah

Welcome to Stella.

We have a slew of doctor's appointments for Alex in the next month, so I'm sure I'll be really tired and behind in reading.

Husband will be home briefly in July before shipping to Afghanistan. He completed a course in combat medicine or something recently, so he now knows how to administer an IV among other things. And this is a guy who hates needles.

We did find out Alex's kidney stones are genetic, caused by his body's inability to synthesize/produce citrate and potassium. No cure for it, just treatment. So it's off to a million more appointments for kidneys, ears, speech, etc.

Maybe we can plan the PA meet up for the summer.

Also- and most important, we're still looking for penpals for the soon-to-be 14 year old dd.

Thanks.
Julie

Hi.

We used Insuremytrip.com to compare different travel insurance policies - coverages, prices, exclusions, etc. After wading through all the info (there was quite a lot!), we ended up purchasing a policy from Travelex.
They had an A+ rating & provided the coverage we needed for a VERY reasonable price. The price was MUCH better than the one offered directly by DCL.

Hope this helps.

RG

Thanks cyndifan......I posted about this again today without realizing I had already asked a few days ago. A PRE-SENIOR MOMENT!!!!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I guess after a long weekend of house guests with small children and lots of jam packed activities, I am too tired to think today.

Julie, I hope everything works out for Alex! I can imagine the doctor's appointments are exhausting! Just think that 4 months, you can relax for a whole week!!! :)

A PA meet up sounds fun! I'm from the Allentown area and my DBF is from outside of Philly! Where in PA are you?

Julie: Geez, that kiddo has a bunch on his plate! Will the potassium issues mean he needs his heart looked at on a regular basis?

Kimberly--

If you get a chance, that would be GREAT to post a Kid Scavenger Hunt blurb on the infamous Post #6.

For all those interested...I believe that one of the age groups in the kid clubs does a scavenger hunt, but this will just be "our thing". I've started brainstorming some fun little prizes & the easiest way to organize this...

I'll keep everyone posted on my thoughts :)

It would be my pleasure. I'll even drop a line in on the DISDoubleDip website's Home page.

When you get a chance, just PM me with exactly what you want it to say.

Thanks, Heather!!

I'll have to ask. Woo hoo! Now we can go to the cardiac docs too! I was just concerned he can't speak clearly- though now that he has the tubes in he's trying to talk and talks constantly- just vowel sounds mostly though.

Hi friends! The response for our Kid Scavenger Hunt has been great. I know that one age group in the kid's club onboard does a scavenger hunt already, but I thought this would be fun for our group to do on our own! Since I'm creating this on my own, I would love any suggestions you have.

Here's how it will work (unless someone replies with a better method!):
Before the cruise, I'll post here & on the DISboard the on-ship meeting day/time/location for passing out the Scavenger Hunt list. Some challenges will be actual things to collect, others will be a task to complete. We'll meet at the designated location and I'll pass out the Scavenger Hunt list. I would encourage this as a family activity...or if your kids are old enough, it will be fine to do alone if you wish. There will be no end time for the hunt... Once your group has completed their list, you can put your checked off list inside our Fish Extender. I'll drop off the prize at your stateroom later that day!

A few "extra special" prizes will be awarded...such as the first team to complete the hunt, and some other creative prizes I'm planning on. But all participants who complete the hunt sometime before the last night will receive a little "prize" for playing.

To encourage sibling cooperation (ha!), players will receive extra points for working together...whether it's with a parent, sibling, cousin, whatever!

Below is the list of who has contacted me so far...
CrazyZeus1 (R, 4)

ScrappingJen

LuvTheEars (M 5, G 8)

Nenner1 (B 9, S 7)

Lenzs4 (T 10, E 7)

Videoman (C 10)

TDVER (T & J 11)

Magic3forme (3 kiddos)

AQW (3 kiddos 7,6,3)

Anewmac (P 10, J 6)

Again--I've never done anything like this before, so if you have any suggestions, I'm all ears!! Mr. Green

I just posted a little info about the hunt...so you can include that if you wish. Or a link to the info. Or I can send the info to you...

Wow! You're very close!!!! PA will really represented on the cruise! :)

Let me know if the PA does a meet. Dhs company is in Exton PA, and we are going with him this summer.
My parents are in Pittsburgh and I am there alot visiting.

For our trip insurance we went with AccessAmerica. On their own website they offer a plan called Family Basics which insures kids for free. We paid under $100 for our family of 5.

The web sites that compare prices for many different companies don't include this coverage as part of their comparisons. You have to go directly to the AccessAmerica site.

I know there's quite a group of us coming out of CMH, so I thought I would let you know that today I received an email from Southwest for the following airfare:

$86 one-way, to/from Orlando, FL

I'm sure the rates are on specific flights out of CMH, but for giggles I did one quick search for you and found the following:

Friday, September 26
Flight 583
Depart 4:30pm
Arrive 6:40pm
Nonstop
Web Only Price: $85

Might want to check it out!

*Hi* Everyone
Havent been around much, just worked the past 4 out of 5 nights:faint:

sorry about the kidney problems, dr appt are no fun:(
DD went back today and her lungs her clear, we will repeat Chest X Ray in a few weeks.

I cant believe 4 months from today, some of us will be eating and some will be enjoying a show

I checked out the shore excursions for Castaway Cay and it seems like there are some Double Dip deals, like renting floats for 2 days for a cheaper price, but so far our date is not included, seems to only be the Wonder DD so far, I hope they include us.

We like the extreme package, it was bike rental, snorkeling, stingray adventure and the floats. We were going to do the waverunner but decided to do that in Cozumel instead since DS can do it there and its cheaper, more money for drinks

Hope everyone had a good memorail day weekend, I am off July 4th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
