Yes, I'm afraid I have not kept up to date with this thread. I guess I was the one guy who didn't know we'd been sold out for months :rolleyes1

I've ridden motorcycles for over 25 years, and was involved in club-level road racing when I was younger. I've never made it to Laconia but am well aware... I love all kinds of motorcycles but have never been a "Harley Dude".

Best wishes to all.

DH used to race off road (Enuros) but that was long ago and far away. Now he only rides (street) to and from work, etc (never been a Harley guy eitehr--even now his bike is more of a dirt bike than a street bike, but it is street legal). Just a way to make his commute more pleasant and cost effective (but I admit it still causes me to worry--all those cars who do not pay attention to bikes:eek: ). Anyway, I was just cuious because I know a lot of bikers have been up this way at some time or another.

I'd be bummed to miss Castaway Cay if we had to because of a hurricane (has happened to me once for that reason and once due to high seas), but even if the ship never stops at any port and just sails in safe waters I will be pretty darn happy. The Magic IS magical as far as I am concerned.

I agree about Castaway Cay, I am REALLY looking forward to this stop TWICE;) When we tell people we are cursing in Sept, they look at us like :scared1: and say, "THAT'S HURRICANE SEASON" OF course we know that, but what I like about being on a ship is that is can go around the storm, but when on land we have no choice but to stay inside. I am looking foward to being the boat and having a GREAT cruise with all my new friends, who I havent met yet:rotfl: !

Well... we do have 2 chances to make it to CC ;)
I'm sure we will ALL do fine.. DCL really seems to keep track of weather conditions and points us in the opposite direction :thumbsup2
Besides, ending up in Hawaii wouldn't be so bad.. right.. :confused3

We went on our 1st "Magic" western cruise beginning of October 06. Best weather we ever had on a vacation. Water was like glass. We too got the funny looks when we said that we were going early October.

Agreed....this will be our third cruise "during the peak of hurricane season"....and I am confident (knock on wood) that it will be just as beautiful and relaxing and amazing as the first two!! ;)

Jen, I hope everything works out alright for you and sarah, let me know. You guys will be in mine and alex's prayers.

Alex's favorite is Jasmine and mine would be Thumper

Wow you have all been busy on the boards today!

....It's too soon to call on Sarah, but she's got a good start, her nursery theme is Disney Princesses!!! (although her first toy is a stuffed Eeyore rattle I bought at MK in February)......

Sorry I haven't been too vocal lately but I have been lurking around, as always. Its been a little rough around here...my Aunt passed away last week........My grandma was stuck on a RCI trans-atlantic cruise when my aunt passed........AND if that wasn't enough.....keep me in your thoughts, cause I found out last week that Sarah's blood flow doppler studies took a huge spike....

 Oh Jen....I'll absolutely have you and Sarah in my prayers as well as Ron and the kids to provide you with the support you need and to give you all some peace of mind. Please keep us posted on how the two of you are doing.

Oh dear. Well I know we'll be taken care of and I'll not be in land-locked Ohio, so I'll be happy wherever I sail!

....I am looking foward to being the boat and having a GREAT cruise with all my new friends, who I havent met yet:rotfl: !

Me too! Me too! I was just talking about all you guys (again) to my collegues today. I think you are all great, and I look forward to hearing what you all have to say every day!

Sorry I haven't been too vocal lately but I have been lurking around, as always. Its been a little rough around here...my Aunt passed away last week, and although it wasn't unexpected it still is never easy. My grandma was stuck on a RCI trans-atlantic cruise when my aunt passed, and had to wait several days to reach land in order to fly back. Unfortunately in the confusion somebody at RCI *cancelled* the flight plans they (my Grandma and her boyfriend) had hurriedly made...they managed to fly out of the Azors and Lisbon, Spain in short fashion, but got stuck at Heathrow in London for over 24 hours. Over 88 flights were canceled and there was nowhere to sit, so they had to sit on their luggage....mind you they are in their late 80's (in good health, but still!) They ended up finally getting a flight out of there into Chicago but still missed the services after all that. The funeral home was wonderful though and allowed them to keep everything up until the next day when they finally arrived in and they were able to have a private viewing to say goodbye. :sad1:

AND if that wasn't enough.....keep me in your thoughts, cause I found out last week that Sarah's blood flow doppler studies took a huge spike- so I have to go back Monday for more dopplers, if they are higher (and they likely will be) then an Amniocentesis is scheduled for Tuesday, and if the results of that are high bilirubin levels, I will be admitted to the hospital on Wednesday for a Intra-Unterine transfusion...which is pretty dangerous and could result in preterm delivery (which we expected, just not this early). I'm hopeful all that won't be necessary though....

Anyway enough of the Debbie Downer stuff....hope you are all having a good week!!!!!!!

Oh, what a week for you! You are definitely in my thoughts.

I'm with Hadley!

Yeah, this will be mine and Lionel's 4th in hurricane season, we always seem to wind up cruising in September/October for whatever reason. Maybe our good luck will last?

Where's the smiley that is looking around for some wood to knock on? :upsidedow

Well....let's see....

Brendan's favorite is Mickey
Savannah's favorite character is Minnie but her favorite Princess ("But that's Different, Mom!") is Cinderella.
Ron's is Goofy
Mine....Well frankly I like them all. But I have to say I am partial to Tigger (as I have had now 3 cats named after him-yet not a one of them could bounce on their tail!! :tigger: )
It's too soon to call on Sarah, but she's got a good start, her nursery theme is Disney Princesses!!! (although her first toy is a stuffed Eeyore rattle I bought at MK in February)

Yeah..it's been sold out for quite a while. January or February IIRC. For some reason the prices on *those* Double Dips did not go up (and out, LOL) as quickly as ours did. I guess we're just speical that way...

I used the worry about the weather, going in September everyone says what about hurricains. but its one thing we can not control. What will happen will happen its vacation relaxe. I would be disapointed with out CC but its not in my hands

I agree with the others. CC is my favorite, but I will try to take whatever comes and enjoy that. Too few vacations to sweat the small stuff.

We are taking the kids out of school for our cruise, can you guys give me some info on how you are making this cruise a learning experience?

What books are you reading?
What excursions are you doing to help with learning?
Etc.

I would like to get some ideas so when I write my letter to the school I sound like I know what I am talking about:rotfl:

If your children are going to be in the Disney Kids Clubs, take a list of the planned activities to the school. Lots of them are educational. pirate: If they like the idea of being pirates, pirate: it should make studying geography, weather, astronomy, and navigation really easy.

Have the kids keep a daily journal. Get them to plot the ship's course on a big map, using latittude & longitude. Record the day's weather and cloud formations. I believe I read somewhere about an engineering-type tour of the boat. (This is my first Disney cruise; I may be wrong.)

Get a star map from one of the observatories online. Try here :
kidscosmos.org/kid-stuff/star-maps.html

:hippie: Have the kids look for the Big Dipper, Orion, and other common constellations before you leave. Then look for them again each night of the cruise. Ask the kids why the stars seem to be in different parts of the sky (Again with the navigation, lat/long)

Hope this gives you some useful ideas.

Jen,
Please accept my prayers for you and your family. May your baby be healthy. Just take it easy. One day at a time.:grouphug:

Popping in to say HI and I look forward to being able to hang out here more in a couple of months! Things are still crazy here so I'm not online very much, but that will slow down come June.

I can't believe I'm sailing with a bunch of fellow WICKED fanatics! :yay: When my sister and I were on a 3-day Baja cruise on Carnival earlier this year we got a note slipped under our door saying "We're next door in Cabin #(whatever); what is that music you're playing? We love it!" It was the WICKED soundtrack of course.

So, who will be hosting WICKED karaoke in their stateroom? :rotfl:

As for homeschooling, you've gotten several great ideas already. I haven't yet started planning in earnest, but we are bringing several maps of the region and we'll be plotting our course and doing calculations on distance traveled, etc. We're also bringing a US map and a world map with some sticky flags and will keep track of the home countries of our servers and other ship personnel and fellow cruisers we meet. My kids will be 6yo and 3yo on the cruise, so it's not exactly Ivy League caliber stuff. ;)

And Arin - ROCK ON for you and your little potty-trained dude! My Celeste will turn 3yo the day after your DS; she is just starting to use the potty and I'm so happy! She is very motivated by knowing that she will not be able to play in the playroom on the Mickey boat if she doesn't use the potty.

Back to my overloaded inbox... hope to pop in again soon!

I don't know if I can get my nieces to post. Sarah will be 15 and the twins, Desiree and Cheree will be 10 on this cruise. I can't seem to get my sister to even post let alone join the web site. Hopefully the Kids thread will catch on and more will be able to meet before we get to the port, Good night all. Lois

Hi all :wizard: I make it in :banana:Love you Grandma4ever  princess: princess:
