Anyone have info. on double developer points currently being offered as an incentive? I just read about this is another post and now I cant find it. We would consider buying AKV with this incentive (320 points on a new AKV purchase). Did I read this all wrong? Was is for AKV or SSR? Thanks!

I was talking to a guide today.. Kinda long story but I am waiting to hear back on a 26 pointer resale (currenty waiting to hear about FROR) and I was calling her because I would like to add AKL points as soon as it goes through (hopefully it does)
she said starting today its double points incentive if you buy a min of 100 points, Like if you bought 100 you would get 300.. But the incentive ones need to be used in 7 months, no banking them past that...
I'm not sure about SSR though... we were talking about akl

So you could buy as few as 100 AKV but cant bank the extra 200 points into the next year? I would have to use the bonus points by when?

I assume that the price per point is not reduced so it would be about $104 per point? We have already purchased 190 SSR but did not know that this incentive was on the horizon. Might be worth adding 100 AKV depending on the deadline for using the double bonus points. Am I getting it right? :-)

someone else may know better,
But I belive it was 7 months the developer points had to be used by..

I'm not sure how long this offer is for either.. does anyone know how long incentives are usually offered for?

I guess if you were planning on adding an additional 100 points anyway it would be a good idea, but to buy an additional 100 points @ $104 ea ($10,400) to get the use of an additional 200 points for one time only seems drastic to me.

Maybe I misunderstand the offer. Could someone clarify.

We received developer points when we purchased SSR 10/06. They had to be used within one year and you could not bank them. We used them to stay at a resort with more points that we normally wouldn't have chosen. We also got a bigger room on the next trip to finish using them up. We had 300 points.:)

I agree I would not buy them just for the developer points alone, But when I called the guide to get some info on resorts. It seemed like a nice plus, for people who are going to get them anways...
From what I understand they need to be used within 7 months..

Also know, that the AKV developer points will be placed in a sub-account and all reservations will need to be made manually, which can take 3-4 days to process.

You will not be able to view these reservations on your member site and MS will need to look in the sub-account or they wont see them either.

Not a big deal if you know what you are dealing with, but I had to learn all this while trying to plan my SSR Family Reunion. These points are a huge pain for me, because I need to make changes and constantly manage the 15 reservations I have and not being able to see my reservations or make fast changes is really adding to the stress.

If I had to do it over, I would take the $8 off and be done with it.

With previous Dev. Points, the points were placed in your master account and had the same flexibility as regular points and were much easier to use. They did have an expiration date, so not understanding why DVC would change them.:confused3

P.S. I was also told y-day by MS Mgr. that Dev. Points cant be used for the waitlist.

Thanks for the info.! Sounds like there may be too many restrictions that would just create frustration in my planning. Did put a call into our guide to get more detail so we will see what happens. We already wanted to add some AKV but this may not be worth it. I will post what I find out from the guide.....

Good Luck globalmom. After all the extra work these points have caused, and all the training and instruction the MS reps need to find these points I feel like DVC should have paid me $8 a point to take them off their hands!:rotfl:
It takes me at least 35-40 minutes a call (most on hold while they go check with a Super) anytime I want to do something with these points.
I dread calling MS and I dont have large blocks of time like that during the day to be on the phone and the newbies work on Saturday and maybe 1 supervisor so I cant even call when I do have time.
Sorry to be a stick in the mud, but I thought I'd save you the aggravation:sad2:

Thanks LiferBabe! Here is the scoop that I just got from our guide:

You get 2 points as a bonus for every one point that you buy at SSR or AKV at the retail price of $104 per point. Same price for members and non-members. The points must be used within 7 months of the contract date and it requires a minimum purchase of 100 points. No banking and no home resort priority. Not a bad deal but only worth it if: you can travel once or twice in the next 7 months, can get the type of reservation that you want, and dont mind paying $104.

We will be thinking about it a bit longer. No idea was given as to how long the incentive will last.

so if im buying 160, id get 480? and have to be used in 7months..no banking??

(can u use them on a cruise even if the cruise is say next year??

You'd have 320 you'd have to use in 7 months (no banking). You'd get your normal 160 based on when your use year is. They can be used or banked as normal.

thanks im gona put all my questions on here and maybe some one can answer them

1. im gona bank, use and borrow on the cruise next dec, dose any one know how far ahead i can book,
and can I just put 250 down for my husbend and pay mine and my sons with points soon.

Hard to tell when the incentive will end, I was not given a date. The above post is correct that you would get 320 bonus points and then you would get your allotment of 160 points on your use year date. You can buy as little as 100 points but I am not sure if you can buy only 100 points if you are not yet a member. You may have to buy 160 if you are buying in to DVC for the 1st time. Does anyone else know the answer to that part?

Yes, you would have to buy 160 if you were buying in for the first time.

hay i figuerd it all out
If i was to try get these i wouldnt get the extra 1600 paid for (8dollers a point or somethiong) she said yes i could do it but id be back up to full price witch relly isnt worth it right now. If i could bank them for the cruise i would but ya u know it will all be ok. Just though id let you all know what i found out. thanks
