Hi,
I've been lurking on these boards for months while planning my disney trip. I've gotten so much great information! We leave next week and I thought I had everything planned- but now I'm wondering if I should add the dining plan.

We're a party of 8 (+ an infant). We have two rooms at POP. One room will have 2 adults and 2 children and the other will have 3 adults, 1 child and the infant. I'm thinking that I should add the dining plan to the room with the 2 adults and 2 children ($1417). I don't think it will save us a ton of money, but if I'm doing the math right looks like it will save us some. I'm going under the assumption that the credits will be used between the two rooms.

I have Garden Grill breakfast booked ($231.12)
Tusker House breakfast ($244.95)
Crystal Palace lunch ($325.93)
That uses all of the table service credits except for 4 kids ones. I do have a breakfast at Cinderella's Palace- would I be able to use those just to pay for 2 of the kids?

That leaves approximately $535 (- $80 for the refillable mugs).

If I assume $4 per snack and 56 snacks = $535-224= $311 to be spent on 28 quickservice meals.

Does this math look right? Should I get the dining plan? I keep second guessing myself.

Thanks so much for the help!

It looks like you're staying for 7 nights. So at least one adult will have to pay OOP for one of those character meals. Did you factor that amount into your math? With 3 kids and 14 kid's TS credits, even using 4 of them at CRT, you'll still have one kid's TS credit left. You could use that for one more QS meal or if you have one more TS, one of them could use it there.

I think the math is in your favor to get the dining plan. Do you have any other TS meals planned? Did you check the DxDDP plan? Those credits can be used for kids or adults, so it would cover all the adults.

Thanks for replying! I knew that I was missing something. I lumped all of the TS credits together and missed the extra adult credit. We don't have any more TS meals planned, so would have to use the extra child one for a QS. Taking into account that you can't mobile order meals on the dining plan and with the numbers so close- I really don't know what to do :sad1:

If you've never used the dining plan, this might be a good time to try it. You're not going to lose money, and it really looks like you'll save some. Plus if any of the adults like alcohol with their meals, you've got that on the DDP side as well.

One note, it does mean that you'll all have to be together when you eat the QS meals and snacks. The room without the DDP won't have access to the credits without a magic band from the other room.

I would look at the DXDP. It it will cost a bit more but should cover almost all your meals. With the DXDP you get 3 Credits (Meals)per person per day (These can be used for CS or TS and I'm pretty sure they don't differentiate between Child and Adult credits). You also get 2 snacks per person. So, for the 7 days your cost would be $2187 so $770 more. But you would have 84 Credits for meals and 56 snack credits to split.

We are doing this in March. DD and 1 are staying at BWV and some friends are staying at Port Orleans. I got the DXDP and we will all share the credits. That will be plenty for us and we can choose to do more table service than we normally would . Also with the Table Service you get Appetizer, Entree, Dessert and Drink. (except Buffet type places). So, you can even share some meals as it is so much food. You still get the mugs also. Just a thought.
