Double Check Your Points

I don't want to hijack this thread, but I need advice from people in the know. Somehow, because of life craziness (sick children and elderly parents, job loss, etc.--just like loads of other folks) I neglected to bank 60 points and now it appears that I have lost them. I really feel stupid. Do I make any attempt to plead my case, or is lost...lost. Thank you for any thoughts on the matter.

I think you should call, explain the circumstances and ask if they can help. They banked some points for me when we were moving back to the mainland and I lost all track of time.

It never hurts to ask, be as pleasant and contrite as you can. The worst that can happen is they say no. But call ASAP!

Good luck!

Help...I booked a vacation for 11/2010 and borrowed some of my 2011 points. But just a few weeks ago we decided to add on points to our membership (YAHOO!), and I just checked my ressie for Nov, and my ressie is still using my 2011 points? I know once you borrow you can't put the point back but does anyone know if this is the case if you purchase add-ons? I assumed that they would use all of my 2010 add on points and put back my 2011???

I think you need to initiate that change. Check out this thread from yesterday. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2412924

Here is what is listed in the new Home Rules and Regulations from the member website:

2) Once Borrowed, Home Resort Vacation Points cannot be returned to their original Use Year and will
expire if not used by the end of the Use Year into which they were Borrowed, except that in the
event Club Members purchase an additional Ownership Interest after Borrowing Home Resort
Vacation Points, Club Members may substitute newly allocated Home Resort Vacation Points of a
current Use Year for the Borrowed Home Resort Vacation Points that were used toward a future
reservation and the Borrowed Home Resort Vacation Points will be returned to their original Use
Year.

So, I believe that you can. The only piece, which is not clear here, is if the add on has to be direct from Disney. I don't know how you added on, but if it was direct, then there is no question they will substitute the points for you. Just give them a call!!!

Thank you, Sandisw!! I just got off the phone with member services and they are going reallocate my points so that my borrowed 2011 points go back! Thanks again for your help!

We had let some friends use some of our points for a stay in January. They had to return a day early due to the snow storm that hit NC. The AKV refunded 38 points for the night they did not use. Those were borrowed points from 2010. We called MS and asked what could be done due to there was no way we could return to the world in a week. The first person at MS said there was nothing they could do but I waited a couple of hours and called back the CM at MS this time explained the situation to her supervisor. The supervisor put the points back into the 2010 use year. So call and if you do not get the answer you want wait a little while and call back. It all depends on who you get. But nothing ventured nothing gained. Good luck.

I just looked at my points, and I just relized for some odd reason they charged me 157 points for my week stay in the club level in a studio when the chart says 148.(Yes I did make sure I looked at 2010 just in case, tying to cover all bases) I was only there seven nights, Came in on Thurs 2/25 and left Tuhrs. 3/4. So Seven nights (Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues, Wed.) I can't figure were the 9 points went. I am going to call MS in the morning to have them look at it, but I think they owe me 9 points. At my home resort of AKV that is one night in a Vaule Studio in Sep. or Jan. Has this happened to anyone else, and if so was it a easy fix? I have everything printed, the activty statement and the chart. Thanks.

Are you looking at "Vacation Details" or "Activity Statement"? Last year they seemed to have charged me too many points from what I could see on the "Vacation Details" screen, but they told me it was correct in their system, and the "Activity Statement" matched the correct amount. I think it's a known glitch in their system, but definitely worth checking on.

Keep us posted on what they say.

I was wondering the same thing. There was about a 60 point difference between the Vacation Details and the Activity Statement for our December 2009 trip. I've kept copies of my confirmation and the Activity Statement, but if they seem willing to actually fix the Vacation Details page that would make me much happier!

Had the same thing reported in Feb from Dec '09 THV stay (7 nights, all in a single season). Phoned MS who said, "Yeah, known problem with the website." She then confirmed that their records showed the accurate number of points used for the reservation.

Well I called MS. There was a problem but corected in about 10 sec when the MS rep pulled up the info. No problem getting my 9 points back.

I always verify which UY my points are coming out of, at the beginning and the end of my transaction. I follow up by checking the member website.

I do the same thing. So far I haven't had any problems with the wrong number of points being charged, but I do always listen to the readback from the CM when completing the ressie and I am typically logged in the DVCMember.com and refresh after they say it to make sure what I see online also matches.

I also specify exactly which contract & UY I want points taken from [I'm in the middle of another add-on now, bringing me up to 4 contracts (but only 321 total points...)]. For example, one time I made a reservation using 10 points on my 2009 UY from the BLT contract, 3 from my current UY on the VGC contract, and borrowed 20 (or something like that) from my BLT contract's 2010 UY. I always have my point use planned so I can maximize my 11 month booking window! In fact, I have spreadsheets with my tentative trip plans from now through 2015 and which contract and UY every ressie is coming from. :rotfl:

The "Geek" is in my screen name for a reason I suppose...

Seems like the easy would to fix little stuff like this would be an automated web based member services, where users can check avliability, automated point banking so points don't expire unless manditory, choose from which pools to use points when making reservations. Really, wouldn't be all that complicated.

automated point banking so points don't expire unless manditory

You already can bank on the web, and I wouldn't want to to be automatic necessarily because I may intend to make a nearly last minute ressie... Hopefully I'll never be stuck doing that but it COULD happen. A warning e-mail two to four weeks before the banking window expires could be nice though!
