MermaidsMom, please forgive me for my misunderstanding. When you quoted me making a suggestion (Proof of ID), I mis-read your post in the wrong tone... Being that I am not originally from KY, I am not entirely well acquainted with the state nor the locations of Army bases (From Ca, hubby was in Navy 8 yrs). I am familiar with nearby Ft Campbell but I think Ft Knox is a over 2 hrs N of us. Again please accept my apologies.

Maybe we should all have a Disney Dining meet sometime! Of course there would be no double booking....unless we couldn't make up our minds of course.

Personally I think it's about time. We're planning a trip in October with the Dining Plan and I know it's not going to be easy to get ADR's already. I'm so sick of seeing people who have multiple ADR's for restaurants because they don't want to decide until that day where they're going to eat. Too bad.

To the poster who said something about it being unfair I think the way it will happen is if you can get your new ADR's you'll cancel your old ones. You won't cancel the old ones first and then try and book new ones.

Here's to hoping that I'll actually get some decent ADR's when I book my trip in the next few days!!!

A co-worker of mine called promptly at 7am to make the ADR's for her trip and was told by the CM that Disney is going to start pulling reservations from 180-150 days out and checking them. If there are any double bookings, they will be cancelling ALL the reservations and sending out an e-mail to inform you that you will need to make new ADR's.

Just thought I'd let people know...

I find this hard to believe. Not doubting you but when you make your ADR all they ask for is your phone number & that it. They have no way each night to go through & see who double booked. Unless you are on the phone with them. MHO. My neice works with Disney making ADR's so she should know.

I didn't read the whole thread, just the first and last pages.

On behalf of many of us, Thank You! We haven't double booked any ADRs, we have no reason to do so.

But I have learned so much on the DIS since I started to plan this trip, thanks to threads like the one you attempted to start. Had I needed this info, I would have known enough to sort out our ADRs and cancel the ones we didn't need. Worst case scenario: people would have had to make up their minds now as opposed to later. Best case scenario: you saved someone's vacation dining plans.

You passed no judgements, merely passed on some important information you had heard. Thank you for that!

The only thing i am worrying about is that there are 7 of us going and there are some meals we are splitting going to different resturants at the same time. How would they know if we are doubling booking or not??? They just don't automatically cancel do they???

You put the reservations under different names didn't you? Then you would be okay. If you put them under the same name then you might have an issue.

I have never double booked before, and I think its a great thing that Disney is starting to check into this. Especially during peak times and FD, its hard enough to get an ADR without having a ton of them locked up just because people can't make up their minds

I think this is unfair. What if you can't get the "new" adr you want, you will have already cancelled your original adr, so now your left with nothing? If you are able to make a "new" adr, wouldn't the CM be able to see that you have another adr scheduled for that time and then tell you that you need to cancel it? Am I reading this wrong?

They are NOT suggesting that you cancel one first then try to book another, they are saying that as soon as you book the new ADR then you must cancel the previous one.

There are certain circumstances in which I can understand this happening, I am doing it myself for a night. The reason? We are a large party and I am in charge of booking all of the ADRs. I was given a list of places and when something didn't work to specifications (a late dining time was common) I still booked it and then moved on to book another option.

The facts: I have a room booked for Corey and me. My MIL has a room booked for herself too. We have 2 ressie numbers. We live in two different houses in two different states.

The situation: My MIL has multiple health conditions. She has CHF, COPD, Diabetes, and is in the early stages of renal failure. We are planning a trip over 9 nights at WDW in mid-December. I have to arrange for the meals to be specially prepared for her dietary needs.

What I did: Since the CP Package details were not available until several days past my ADR window, I booked about 23 ADR's between our ressie number and my MIL's ressie number. Some days, I had us booked at both the Biergarten and R&C for lunch and then again the same day I had us booked at Biergarten and R&C for dinner. I didn't have either of us actually double booked, but I used the system to my advantage. I booked most of the stuff that I kind of figured we would end up settling on under our ressie and most of the back-up plan and definite maybe stuff under my MIL.

Resolution: Once the CP Packages became available, I cancelled a bunch of ADR's. I think out off all of the ADR's we originally had booked that only one of the ADR's that I booked under my MIL was actually kept.

Final Outcome: I do not regret doing what I did. I was responsible and cancelled the ADR's that we did not need ASAP, so that others could make use of the spots. I doubt that I will ever be in this position again where there was so much stress placed on making things so "perfect" or planned for health purposes, but at least I do feel that if I had to "work the system" that I was responsible with the amount of time that those ADR's were "double utilized".

The CM told her of Disney's plan to pull random ADR's made from 180-150 days ahead and check them for "double bookings" and if they found them, would cancel them, and yes, she did say would e-mail the person and inform them they would need to make new ADR's because their reservations had been cancelled. My co-worker asked what would happen if she did anyway, just for a day, and the CM's reply was that she could take the chance, but if her ADR was pulled later that day, it would be cancelled.

Am I reading this right that if they catch that someone that is double booked they will cancel all their ADR's? Or is it just the double bookings? I hope the first is correct. IMHO if Disney did this, it might keep people from double booking as much. I know there will always be people that have the "It's all about me" disease, but hopfully it will cut it down.
