I hope so to especially as i am going in august/september for the first time usually only go there early july end of june. Although I have been stuck out in the Dominican on the tail end of a hurricane two years ago that was scary.

Same here, getting married in August over there and praying daily for hurricane free weather. Been there during a hurricane before and it does change the plans slightly!

a few years back, we were at WDW 3 times (3 months in a row)..
all three times there were hurricanes off the coast of florida...
we got into orlando every time without delay...
the pilot did have to fly a strange route to avoid the hurricanes, but we got into orlando without problem, so it was fine..

How bad does it have to get before it affects the flights?

If the hurricane is tracking to hit the Florida mainland (i.e Frances a few years ago) they will shut the airport up to 24 hours before.

This is what got us stranded, not the hurricane itself which passed over Orlando when we would of actually already arrived home had the airport been open.

The incoming flights didnt leave London as OIA was scheduled to close before they arrived.
