Am I the only one? I just don't get Spectro. I've seen it twice, and I really tried to like it the second time, but I just don't get it. What is up with the freaky faceless dolls in the beginning?? Where did they come from...Walt's nightmare? The music isn't as kicky either, but it was fun to see some other characters (Chernabog, for instance). I was very lucky to have seen MSEP (Electrical Parade) when they brought it back for 2000. I just wish they could bring it back for good.:( I love the colored lights and the way the music entertwines throughout the floats. Cinderella's ball dancers were so amazing as a kid with their light up clothes. Any thoughts? Everyone laments how they miss Tapestry of Nations Parade in EPCOT, but no one else really laments the passing of this Magic Kingdom classic.

You are not alone :)

While I do enjoy Spectro, I too prefer/miss MSEP! I hope they bring it back someday while we are there :)

I also miss MSEP. I do enjoy Spectro, but I'd much rather see the MSEP. I worked at the Magic Kingdom during the summer of 2000, so I was fortunate to see it several times. That might be the reason that I prefer it. :D I'm hopeful they will bring it back sometime in the future.::yes::

I too miss it. I have seen Spectro but I don't enjoy it as much as MSEP. I did see it in 200 but I saw it several times before. I do mis it.

BRING IT BACK FOR GOOD

ME, TOO!!!!

Although I think Spectro is fun, I don't 'get it' either. I agree about the freaky faceless guys in the beginning - - what's that all about??

I loved MSEP! In fact, I used to get all choked up as it passed by. I don't know if it was the music or the beauty of the floats, but I actually used to get emotional

Do you think it will ever make its way back to Orlando??

Add me to the chorus... Spectro's OK, but it seemed boring after a while when two of my kids and I saw it. It's hard to top the energy of Baroque Hoedown.

I loved the Main Street Electrical Parade the first, and only time I saw it in 2000. Spectromagic was just so-so. Those dolls freaked me out too. I love the music in MSEP, and all of the floats. I don't think I really liked any of the floats in Spectro.

Add my vote for the MSEP! I saw it numerous times, and even bought a disney music cd that contains the music. I am planning a trip out to California just so I can see it again! I do like Spectro, but it doesn't have the magic that MSEP does. Maybe we can start a campaign to bring it back, that way I won't have to go to California!

Another MSEP fan here! Spectro is "okay," but I've seen it enough to know that I won't fight the crowds to see it during our upcoming March trip. If we happen to be at the right place at the right time then we'll watch, but otherwise we'll be riding HM, SM or BTMRR! I also feel this way about the "Share a Dream Come True" parade.

I used to get the same way over "Disney's Magical Moments" AND "Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks." I think it was the music for both that really got to me. I sure hope "Disney Wishes" isn't a disappointment for me. :worried:

Tinks, or anyone who knows, who is Chernabog?:scratchin

I think MSEP is better too. Spectromagic is nice but MSEP is my very favorite. We just missed it last time we went to California. I guess that will be our next Disney trip. :yo-yo:

Spectro just doesn't have the "spark" that MSEP had. I was thrilled my DD got to see MSEP in '00 before it was gone again!

From his perch high upon Bald Mountain, Chernabog unfolds his wings and casts his dark shadow over the sleeping village. Born of nightmare and myth, he conjures writhing harpies and fiends, and calls the spirits of the restless dead to perform at his beckoning. His minions live and die at his whim, feeding the fire with their bones when he's wearied of their devotion. Chernabog is king of the darkness and no human dares walk the night while he's abroad! His evil power stands against anything -- except the clean light of the sacred dawn. When the sweet notes of morning break over the mountain, the monster must crawl back into hiding, for against the purity of the day, his evil is helpless. But Chernabog is never gone, he merely waits for the coming of another night, and the chance to continue the eternal battle between light and dark.

Animator Bill Tytla drew on the Ukrainian myths of his childhood, and the powerful concept imagery created by Danish artist Kay Nielsen, to bring the frightening Chernabog to life. Horror-film star Bela Lugosi performed live-action reference for the giant demon, but Tytla was not completely satisfied with the result and reshot much of the acting himself. Film: "Fantasia" (1940) Animator: Vladimir "Bill" Tytla

I copied this from another site....Chernabog is from Fantasia and also from the video game "Kingdom Hearts," which is how my 8 year old knows him. He is the scary large bat-like demon in Spectro and also in Fantasmic at MGM. Hope that helps!

Edited: The pictures didn't copy over...I don't know how to do pictures:crazy:

Not to rub it in, but I get to see the Electrical Parade whenever I want (have AP's to Disneyland) and I still love it :p ! The music can't be beat. And my kids still get excited when the music starts and the turtles, snails & bees drive up to them and wiggle.

But, I still enjoy seeing Spectro when I go to WDW.

Okay! I just didn't know the name. I must admit that it has been YEARS since I tried to watch Fantasia. I hate to admit it, but as much of a Disney fan as I claim to be, that movie just put me to sleep. However, now that I've "grown up," maybe I'd enjoy it. I'll put it on my "Must Do--To Do List."

Thank you!

I like Spectromagic. I think it's a really nice parade. But I love the MSEP. There's something special when the lights go out, the music starts and out comes the Blue Fairy. We were lucky that we got to see it several times the last time it was at WDW.

I was sooo disappointed that I never got to see it! For some unlucky reason, it was not running either time we were there in 1998 or 2000. I hope it comes back someday.

I loved the Main Street Electrical Parade! I went to Disney in January 2001 pretty much just to see it! Love that music and the "ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls ..." announcement at the beginning. Fortunately I recorded it on video, and I still do watch it when I am in a disney mood!

I totally agree on Spectro with those "Raggedy-Ann"ish doll- looking people in the beginning. I can't figure out what Disney movie they could possibly be from!! But the rest of Spectro I enjoy. :)

I agree, I LOVED MSEP!!! I like Spectro too, but it doesn't seem as 'magical' to me as MSEP- the intro., the music,.... it just seemed like a 'happier' parade to me.
BTW- I do not like the dragon scene in Spectr from Fantasmic- it really scared DD4 this year, she cried the rest of the parade- even after hiding her eyes. It ruined the whole experience for her! We were on the curb and Snow White stopped to ask why she was crying and talk to her- she still cried.
Anyway, I miss the magic of MSEP- it was just special!

I loved MSEP as a kid and was lucky enough to see it with my kids in 2001. Tapestry of Nations we loved just as much! We are going back in 2 weeks, but unfortunately those parades won't be there.
