I used to know a CM that worked in the DCL office in Celebration. They keep a VIP list for every cruise. He would tell me who was on the cruises but he moved out of DCL.

Hey RRB & BML -

Saw your postings over on the Wonder Dry Dock update posting. Those pictures are amazing. I am really getting excited now! Other then you guys and Purtypat1 no one else seems to be posting. Where did everyone else from this thread go? We will have to plan a meet once we get onboard.

Sure sounds great...My fiance thinks that this is really weird, I'm sure she'll be thrilled! hahah

Anyway Yogi, who are you crusing with

BML Mickey

yogi and bml - in 30 hours we had 189 posts in the drydock thread. I don't kmow where all our cruisers are but I'm here and ready to get ready to cruise.

tell us about yourselves and let's make sure we get together on the ship.

well, you said this cruise was your honeymoon. are you guys getting married right before? Maybe at WDW? Have you cruised before? How often do you go to WDW?

Getting Married

In Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, At the Bavaro Princess All Suites Resort, Spa and Casino. There are about 30 of our friends and family joining us for the weeke long celebration. We are then flying from Punta Cana to Orlando on the 21st. We are staying at the Sheraton All Suites Hotel just off the airport and then a shuttle back to the airport to be picked up on Wednesday morning by the Disney bus.

Cruised Before

We have never cruised before. I have spent ten days on a private yaught travelling through the keys but thats as close as I have gotten. We are looking forward to it so much. I am actually looking more forward to the cruise than anything else.

Disney World Frequency

Well, when I was a kid I went every year with my family. Now becasue I have more respondsibilities (money wise) we can't afford to go every year. The last time we went was November 2004 and that is where we got engaged. It was actually the first trip to Disney that my fiance and I took together. We are planning to go back for our one year anniversary. If everything is good with the cruise that I am going to try to book a land and sea trip for next november (2007)

THere is a little info, how about you?

BML Mickey

Wow...I am just amazed at all the great discussion and info I am getting about my family's first Disney cruise. Yes, there is someone else ready to jump on the Thanksgiving cruise thread.

We have 10 of us going on the Thanksgiving Wonder. My wife and I have DS10, DS6, and DD2 (almost 3). My DMIL and DFIL will be going (and paying...which is nice). My DSIL, her husband, and DD2 are going as well.

I am the real Disney-a-holic in the family and planning the whole thing. I have probably booked and cancelled and booked again tons of spa treatments for the ladies, couples massages on Castaway Cay, Stingray adventures, Nassau glass bottom boat tours, and Palo dinners.

So I guess it is time to get the real dish from you guys.

1. Is the stingray dive worth it?
2. Should we get rooms to go to Atlantis at Nassau?
3. Will we feel bad going to Palo for dinner on Thanksgiving night (only time we could get reservations) without kids?
4. How early should we check in at Port Canaveral?

Those should get me started...but I know the onslaught of questions will continue.

Thanks in advance for any help...and I look forward to meeting all of you on the ship.

BML Mickey

married in 1975, we honeymooned at the Contemporary Resort. That and the Polynesian were the only Disney resorts opened then. I remember staying in the tower with a MK view, it cost all of $60.00 per night (a small fortune for us back then). We really enjoyed the parks so we became "regulars". We would go up for weekends since we were only 2.5 hours away.

In 1997, we bought into the DVC. It seemed like a natural since we spent so much time there. In 1999, we sailed on our first Disney Cruise. This next 4 day cruise will be our 10th or 11th (can't remember which) with DCL. We do mostly the 4 day cruises since we go so often. We love the 7 day sailings and would like to do 2-7 day back to back cruises.

For our 25th anniversary, we had a big party at Disney's Vero Beach Resort in 2000. We renewed our vows on the lawn overlooking the ocean. Family came in from all over and we spent 5 days there on the beach.

2 years ago, we surprised my Brother's daughters with a Disney cruise. As they live in Colorado, it was a real treat for them. They absolutely loved it. So this year, we talked my brother into doing a vacation here with us over Thanksgiving. All the plans are made for the cruise but the gilrs don't know. We will be attempting to keep it a surprise right up to the point they see the ship from the car. It will be a challenge but I hope we can pull it off. I can't wait to here thier reaction when they first relize what is in store for them.

Thats about it for us. Since you are first timers, let me know if there's anything I can help you with.

Randy

Very Exciting;

It sounds like you have a great trip planned, I hope that the cruise is everything that I am dreaming of. I am so excited I can't even begin to tell you. I have been dreaming of a disney cruise for 5 years!

Randy I do have a question, based on the info in my passporter, an all adult party will most likely have T/AP/AP/PC

With the pirate dinner on the third night instead of the second, If I do not get this rotation I have to potential of not seeing the AP show as they only run it on the first three nights.

Wondering if you have had any experience with this situation.

the AP show only occurs on the first time you dine at that restaurant. But, you can change the rotation as soon as you get on board. You will be assigned your rotation when you check in at the terminal. if it isn't what you're looking for, go to Guest Services as soon as you board and change it. It's that simple.

So what has happened to all the chatter. I looked on other threads and they had thousends of replys. We leave in less then 50 days and we do not even have 100. I am looking for all the good info...the secret things you get to do on a Thanksgiving cruise that you cannot any other time...the time when all the experts get together and give all the inside information. Bring it on, guys and gals...we leave soon. :cool1:  pirate:  :Pinkbounc :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

So someone else said the same thing. Where did they go? Well that is ok. We can still be excited with our little group.

I read somewhere further back that they might do lobster for Thanksgiving? What do you guys think? Actually we are doing Palo for Thanksgiving dinner...will they do anything extra?

I am still having the dilemma concerning Nassau and what to do. My family (all 10 of us) are not fans of being hustled or open air markets where there is a lot of bargaining. We live in Nashville where everyone is polite and whatever the price is we take there word for it. We are thinking about Atlantis, but are not sure if it is approporiate for 2 year old girls. Just wondering what you experienced cruiser think. I know when I went on RCL over fifteen years ago I hated Jamaica because I felt like I was being hustled all the time. I am sort of in charge of this cruise for my whole fam and am concerned that they do not feel hustled the whole time in Nassau. Since it is the first cruise for most of the group, I really want them to have a good time so we can do many more of them.

Looking forward to some fun ideas. :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

Also...a little bit about my group going with me.

Like I said, we are from Nashville...yes, Southern rednecks, but still happy and fun. My wife and I have been married for just over 13 years, and we have the three kids (DS10, DS6, and DD 2.5). After we got married, we honeymooned at this private island near South America called Petite St. Vincent in the Grenadines. It was amazing...you had your own private beach and whenever you wanted anything, you just raised a flag and they would bring it to you wherever you were. She and I have been on only one other cruise together, but it was a Carnival, and we are not the huge partiers (although we do like to have a good time), so she was not too crazy about it, and because it was her only means of comparison for cruises, is a little uncertain about this one. DS10 is very big for his age and loves to explore and is very excited about all the navigation possibilities in the clubs. My 6 year old DS is a sports nut and only wants to know about basketball and hockey courts, as well as where he can compete in sports contests. And my 2.5 DD only wants to know when we get to see Cinderella and where all the whales are.

My wife's parents are going with us and the money providers for the cruise. They actually just got back from Alaska, and were excited to take the family on a big trip. With all the kids in school, and everyone working, the only thing we could do right away was this cruise (my suggestion). They are both VERY active (marathon runners in the past) and love keeping the grandchildren. he is known as Main Man to the grandchildren, and she is Mommom.

My Sister in Law and her husband have a 2 year old DD as well, and they will be around 18-20 weeks pregnant on the cruise. That will not stop them from anything and they are very excited but a little apprehensive as they have never cruised before. He is from Australia and we are great friends who stick together against the rest of the fam who are VERY close. We like to rib our father in law about just about everything.

Well, I know you did not ask, but I thought since we will all be seeing each other on the cruise, the least we could do was tell a little about ourselves like a couple of you have already done.

Let's hear from some others so we can tell our kids who they might be joining in the clubs and who the adults might be joining in the clubs after hours. party:

Hi JoRy

Hi JoRy

Welcome aboard. If there is no excursion you’re interested in then maybe consider staying onboard and enjoying the ship. Last two times we were in Nassau we got a room at the Comfort Suites on Paradise Island. The have a deal were you can use the facilities at the Atlantis for the day. The kids enjoyed the pools, waterslides and “The Dig” (the aquarium at the Atlantis) but during the Thanksgiving Holiday they have a three night minimum. We could get a day room at the Atlantis but you can’t book it ahead of time and it would probably be so crowded it would not be worth it. The Atlantis is huge and has a lot of stairs not stroller friendly. You cannot even walk out by the pools unless you have a wristband on. On the other hand it is a great time to explore and enjoy the ship. The pools will be quieter. They will have the new spray ground for the 2 year old to enjoy. You will be able to get a great meal. Four days go by so quickly that it is a great chance to see the ship. Nassau is a lot like Jamaica in terms of vendors. We were going to stay onboard but now I think we might do the Dolphin encounter.
The Christmas decorations will be up. We ordered our Christmas pictures last year onboard. (Last cruise was 12/05) The price was not much more than you would pay for picture cards at Walgreens. If you are thinking about getting cards remember to have the photographers take lots of pictures both portrait and landscape. Some of the card style with the greeting can only be ordered with certain styles.
Remember to bring either a pillowcase, t-shirt or frame mat to leave with guest services for the characters to sign. Here is a link to mine from the last cruise.

party:

You won't see any whales, maybe a dolphin if you’re lucky. There will be several greetings to meet Cinderella just check navigator and call the hotline. Get in line early so your daughter won't be disappointed. Here is a magical moment we had with Cinderella on our last cruise. On our last cruise it was my niece’s birthday. When we got in line to see the princesses I went ahead with a special Cinderella birthday pin I purchased ahead of time. I asked the cast member managing the line if it was possible that Cinderella give the pin to her when it was her turn to greet her. It worked out great. When we got to the front of the line - I pointed my niece out to the cast member she step ahead and discreetly handed the pin to Cinderella. Cinderella gave a big hug and gave her the pin. My niece has no idea that I set it up. It was truly a magical moment.
If they still have the little pirate and princess party that would be great for the little ones. Last time we had Captain Hook and Cinderella all to ourselves. They dance with the kids and it was early so the kids did not have to stay up late for it.

They have basketball on deck 10 but I don't think they have hockey,

Hi All,

Figure I will join in. My family is from Northern Jersey. Minutes from NYC. Actually my husband works in NYC, & by bus, he is in work within 20 minutes door to door.

Two years ago, I took DMIL on Disney Cruise with my DD who is 12. We lost my FIL in a plane crash, & it is hard for my husband's family to fly. (my DH included)

My DMIL loved the Cruise, & told me that she would like to take the rest of the family on a Disney Cruise for Thanksgiving. I took charge & within one week all of 18 of us were booked. LOL

This will be my 3rd Disney Cruise, & my husband's first. I just booked the Disney Mediterranean Cruise, next June for DMIL myself, & my DD. My husband will not fly overseas.

Yes, someone on the boards had emailed a photo of there Thanksgiving Lobster from last year. They do serve it. They will have turkey, if anyone is interested.

Thanks for the Christmas cards ideals. :thumbsup2 Sound good to me.

I can hardly wait.
Patricia
