I haven't checked other forums so if this is a repeat please close. Is anyone worried about what they're calling tropical depression 5? The recent update of the track looks like it's headed for Florida next Saturday. They only have until Thursday estimated for now. This all got updated in the last few hours.

don't sweat it so early. most likely it'll veer north up the Atlantic. 2nd likely will be heading in the gulf impacting further west.

I looked at weather before my trip (going on now) and it seems that storms start off really strong and then mostly get downgraded. Based on what I’ve seen, I wouldn’t worry too much until maybe mid week? What do others think?

and to add, if it goes over Hati/Dominican Republic, it will get destroyed and may end up being noting

No reason to stress unless you know for sure. Things can change. That being said if you travel this time of year you should get trip insurance in case. I think you will be okay make a contingency plan in case. But too far out to make any decisions yet. plus the news is going to jump all over any potential development because its been quiet on that news front.

We leave Wednesday evening. I'm trying not to look at weather too much. My anxiety can really ramp up easily, so trying to avoid that. Whatever happens, happens, and we'll make the best of it!

Thanks for the replies. I'm overly sensitive to hurricanes because I had to evacuate by car during Irma two years ago because I wasn't paying attention to the weather and there were no fights left by the time United cancelled my flight.

I think it's ok to check, but at this point, no reason to stress until it passes the Caribbean. It's hard to predict what it'll do, a lot always depends which islands it hits and if it can survive

As a native Floridian it is waaaayyy waaayyy to early to even worry about it. They can really only predict about 3 days out any more then that is a guess

Right now my guess is it gets close to Florida on Labor Day. I'm hoping for Atlantic side and not Gulf side (I live on the Gulf side).

The predicted track shows it weakening back to a tropical storm on Thursday as it passes over the Dominican. I have no idea how accurate that is though.

Still not time to panic, but now is the time to at least keep a close eye on it. A lot can, and will, change.

If this is the actual path and timing, will flights be able to land in Orlando on Saturday?

The actual path will not be known until it happens. There are some factors steering it, but it can and probably will change.

Best to just keep an eye on it and be prepared.
