Doreen's Fresh Start & Success Story! (Welcome Friends!)

Hey, has anyone seen a healthy living road around here??? I'm afraid I got off the path Friday evening and I haven't found my way back yet. Thank goodness each day is a chance to start fresh - that's what I'm going to do today. ::yes::

The weekend was good, but carby ;). DD is home. She had a great time. Amazon failed to deliver my copy of Harry Potter on Saturday but sent me a nice email saying it will be here early this week and it will be free, true to their guarantee. Since I'm still reading book 4, it was fine with me.

Today it's back to my healthy habits. They are ingrained into the fabric of my workday now so it's easy to get back on track.
1. Devotions - Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The affectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much - James 5:16
2. Pills - I'll take them with breakfast.
3. Water - already started.
4. Healthy eating - B will be ham egg cheese english muffin, L will be a burger, no bun, D will be whatever I pick up from the store.
5. Exercise - if I can get an early lap around the building, before the humidity gets too oppressive, I'll do that.
6. Scale - I haven't set foot on that scale since Friday - I don't want to know. :(

My workload is manageable and the tasks are not stressful. It will be a good day! :sunny:

Hi Doreen!
Isn't it great that we get a fresh slate every morning? Good luck today, you can do it!

Morning Doe! :sunny:

It sounds like you are ready for your day today! :moped: I hope you have a wonderful day today! :flower:

Sounds like it will be a great day!

The healthy road you are looking for heads West towards St. Louis! :) I'm going into training mode in August. I'll probably suspend my Curves workouts to once a week while I start walking more and more. Yesterday I did 4.2 miles in an hour and 10 minutes. So I need to pick up the pace if we want to do 15 minute miles. I want to try and beat my Disney time! :)

Have a great day!

~Amanda

Hee,hee. Your scale has disappeared, too? What's happening around here? :confused3 Mine's been gone since Thursday! What the heck. I guess even scales need a vacation! :teeth:

We're on our way up to see Mike's mom tonight, so it means pizza for dinner.
Oh, darn. What can I do? :teeth:

Love and hugs to you, WISH-sis--
Erin

Good morning, princess: Doe-Doe. How's Tuesday shaping up for you?
Do you have that color-coded chart out and ready to mark off? I'm sending some  and  your way!

Erin

I've been avoiding my journal and we all know what that means - feeling a bit guilty over STILL indulging in way too many carbs yesterday. I really must get back on track with my food and must face the scale eventually. I've been earning all my other smilies though, so all is not lost.

Today, I'm taking a day off from The Plan. I'm going to try to make decent choices and ease back into eating healthy. I need a grocery store trip before I can get totally back on the bandwagon - maybe tonight if it's not TOO humid out.

I'm meandering my way back to the healthy living road - I'll get there in a day or two....... :sunny:

Hi, Doreen! Good luck finding the road back. I LOVE Mapquest :)

Really, I have been thinking of you and wanted to say "hi" and to WISH you a good day!

Hugs!
Cam

You'll find that road - trust me!!!! Hang in there, you're doing good!!!! And a little bump in the road is expected (I need to remember to keep telling myself that!!!). Just pick up where you bumped off and start back at it.

Keep on
Chris

OK, yesterday wasn't TOO bad but it wasn't on plan either. I made some more progress toward healthy living. Today I'm ready to give it a bit more effort.

1. Devotions - If God be for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31 God can defeat the army of disappointment, frustration, un-ease, anxiety that is threatening my peace.
2. Pills - taken.
3. Water - yep.
4. Healthy eating - B = bagel w/ butter (carby, but I'll do better the rest of the day), L = Subway LC wrap, D = something fast as I get DD & her friend to tennis lessons.
5. Exercise - a 15 minute walk during lunch.
6. Scale - just didn't have the courage to face it yet. When I've had a few good days under my belt, THEN I'll get on.

I've got plenty to do at the office but I'm not feeling stressed about it. I have no major pressing projects looming, which is so nice!! Tonight DD & her friend have a tennis lesson. I'm reading the fourth Harry Potter book (Goblet of Fire) every chance I get. The sixth one finally was delivered yesterday.

All in all, life is good! :sunny:

Good morning Doe! :flower:

I love your devotional this morning! :flower: Thanks for sharing!

I hope you have a healthy and happy day today! Take good care of you!

Good morning, WISH-sis. :sunny: I hear what you're saying about the dreaded scale. I just looked at mine this morning. :sad2: Not pretty. BUT, looking at it made it very clear to me that I have to bring myself back to the program. Not too easy to do from where I sit in the DZone, but like you, I'm willing to move in the right direction. Step by step, WISH-sis. We can do this.

I have the new H.Potter book hidden in a drawer for when DD comes home. I've had to hide it so DH and I don't peak at it! When DD comes back from camp, we'll read it out loud together. It's a family tradition--we've done all the books that way.

Well, it's Wednesday. After the hump you'll see Friday fast approaching. It sounds like you're comfortable at work. . .it's about time they gave you some peace there!

Have a good day, Doreen. One of these days we've got to get together! :hyper2:

 for your day,
Erin

You are going to love the new Harry Potter book. It is my 2nd favorite of the series. I am re-reading mine right now, I always like them better with the 2nd read through. :)

Okay - I'm putting on my "mom" voice.
When are you going to start training? I'm not going to be doing this alone? You know you'll feel better if you've got a buddy doing it with you. We should put together a schedule. I'll follow it if you will!

:)

~Amanda

Sounds like you did have a good day - BRAVO for you!!! And don't worry if you can't get on the scale - that might be a good thing as if it wasn't what you were hoping for you won't be disappointed then.

Keep on
Chris

hi ya doe...how are you today? i hope all is well in your world, you'll have courage to face that scale soon enough...JUST KEEP SWIMMING :fish:

YOU CAN DO IT!!!

hugs,
Jen :fish: ;)

Hi Doe,

The 4th book is my favorite, followed by HBP and POA. I just finished it last night. Won actually read part of it to me because of my headache. He can be very sweet.

I am right there with you hating the scale. We can do this together, sweetie. The healthy living path is waiting for us.

Take care of yourself,
Beth

:sunny: Good morning, WISH-sis! :sunny: Is it sunny there today? It was dark and cloudy when I got up, but I see the sun's out now here.

Have you framed your day around healthy living? Remember as God's beloved child you need to treat your body with reverence. You're special! :flower:

So, you and Amanda are finding your way to the ole training path. . .you are long distance athletes, after all. You didn't forget that, did you? You remember that this will be your THIRD half marathon in less that a year, don't you? Remember, the journey starts with just a single step. Walk on, girlfriend, walk on!

Have a good Thursday, and keep your face turned toward the Light.

   --

Is it the weekend yet??? :rolleyes1
I've had enough week and I'm ready for some down time. ::yes::

I'm still not quite on the healthy living road, although it IS within sight now. :p I keep getting closer every day. I think to truly walk the road, I'll have to plan my food and make a grocery store trip, which will happen this weekend. Until then, I'll do what I can.

I'm still working on the fourth HP book and can't wait to get to the 5th & 6th books! I think I'll tell DH that I'm doing NOTHING this weekend except reading. :rotfl:

Work has been very unstressed and I'm hoping to keep it that way. I've gotten the OK to move to another cubicle that is in a quieter location. Right now I'm on the main aisle and can hear conversations from EVERYWHERE. I'm moving to a dead end aisle that overlooks the building's atrium. The atrium ceiling (10 stories high) is glass so I'll get plenty of natural light, which is much easier on my eyes than the flourescents. The ventilation system makes some background noise that seems to mask all the conversational noise in the area. I've been sitting in the new cube periodically over the past few days to "test drive" it and I LOVE it! I can permanently move after August 1st - they have to clean out the stuff from the last guy who retired.

All in all, life is pretty good and I'm slowly recharging my batteries after all the work stress of the past few years. My next big project is to start training for the half marathon in St. Louis in mid-September. I can't let Amanda leave me in the dust! :hyper2:

somehow I don't think you will have to worry about me leaving you in the dust! :)

Here is a training schedule that fleetfeet has put together for the half marathon. It looks daunting, but I'm willing to give it a go if you are?
