Dora's talking house

Ok, I know this is a really dumb thread, but I got Dora's talking house for my DD for Christmas. Of course, last night, after she went to bed, I took it out of the box. I like to "depackage" toys beofre I wrap them so I don;t have to do it on Christmas morning. I prefer to sit in the arm chair with my eggnog flavored coffee and watch and enjoy. Plus, I like to play with my toddler's toys.

Anyway, this is a really cool toy. Anyone else get this/thinking of getting this for their kid for Christmas? My MIL bought all the accessories we could find as her presents to DD for Christmas. The only ones we did not find are the bathroom set, swiper and boots. If you run across these anywhere, let me know.

Oh man! Dora holds a special place in our hearts because Tim tours with the live Nick show! Isabella is a mite old for this toy but it sounds so cool. Have you tried some of the online stores?

Well, when I looked Sat. night, toysrus, Target and Walmart were all out of stock, I suppose I could try again...or try other stores. I have no doubt I'll find them before Christmas, I really just wanted to talk baout what a cool toy it is. The sofa pulls out in a sleeper sofa, Dora's bed turns into bunk beds, the house folds compactly, but actually is spacious and folds UP into two floors. VERY cool.

I would love to see Dora live...I mean DD would love to. (tee hee) We love Dora here.

Oh great! Of course you had to tell me it is a great toy. I was hoping it was a piece of junk! DD sort of asked for this for Christmas. I mean sort of because she asked for a bunch of stuff including the Loving Family House we got her. SIGH! She just has a Dora obsession right now.

Oh well, I have to stick with my decision. She is getting the dress up Dora Doll with a few outfits.

Alexa is Dora obsessed too. I could think of worse things I guess. It's going to be an "all Dora" Christmas around here. My parents (I should say my mom) got her DVDs and the dress up doll, but couldn't find any extra clothes for her yet.

Oh well, I have to stick with my decision. She is getting the dress up Dora Doll with a few outfits.

Yup, still out of stock. MIL is going to look up at the Target near her hoiuse, primarily populated by retiree villages, so maybe they won;t be sold out.

Yup, only selling all five furniture sets together.

But I wanted to let you know that I got DD some wood play food sets at toys r us. Super cute, I know you were asking about wood playfood earlier in the month...

DS3 (yes DS) wanted this desparately, so I dispite DH's raised eyes, I got the whole shabang. I did find out the bathroom set is discontinued. I think the only place you'll have any luck will be on ebay. I won one last week for $15.99 - which wasn't bad.

Amazon.com was out of the furniture, but had the extra people set. Found all the furniture, but no people at Nickelodeon.com. Split that order.

Walked into TRU Friday night with DS - and there was one Swiper waiting to be swiped - which I did.

As with anything that you're on a mission for, it's being in the right place at the right time. Good Luck!

it might be hard to find the furniture b/c about a month ago toysrus.com had a sale and people were able to get the houses for a ridiculous price! I got two houses and a Dora doll shipped to my house for $22

Since I (and everyone else who got this deal) basically only paid $11 for the house - spending money on the furniture doesn't seem so bad.

We went to 2 different ToysRUs sales sunday and at the 2nd store DW got the house & 4 rooms..
This is gonna be one of the hot items this year..
DD was with us when we walked in the first store and she was asking about it before we got inside..

O.K., I have to ask, how old are your children? DD who is almost 7 has put this on her list. I put one on layaway but was going to cancel it. I'm afraid that she is to old and will only play with it for a few days and then it will be another dust collector. Christmas shopping shouldn't be this stressful

My oldest is going to be 7 in a month in a half, but its my youngest(4) who wants it...

They had them at ToyRUs for $44.99 and they had a 20% off coupon this weekend, and if you spent $75 you got a $10 gift card...So DW had to get that gift card..

DH decided that DD is getting Dora's House. She asked him for it (again) last night out of the blue. He is taking back all of the Loving Family stuff today.

I went this morning and got the house. They also happened to have all of the extra figures except Diego. I have my Mom on the look out for the furniture and I am going to be calling around.

And the fun begins.....

I got this for my daughter for Christmas as well. I bought it in Toys R Us. They had only 1 Boots and Swiper left. I got her those, plus the bedroom set. I am going to buy the other accessories soon. I guess I better get there very soon if the accessories are selling out so fast.

Jenn, on ebay, people are selling the entire furniture set, including the bathroom. I'm thinking of trying to buy the entire set and returning the individual sets that I bought. Good luck. I have found Diego at more than one store, so you should be able to get it. Good luck!

I called a Toys R Us that is by my Mom in Idaho. They have most, if not all, of the furniture sets. We don't have a TRU near where we are. So she and my Dad are going there tonight to pick them up. They will only do a 24 hour hold.

I think the girl on the phone thought I was nuts when I asked her to hold them all for me.

I have never done Ebay, so I will just go with the individual ones. I feel lucky to have found them! LOL!

Would you guys indulge a non-kid owning query? I'm just dying of curiousity. I know who Dora is, and I understand the furniture sets, but what, oh what is a boots or a swiper?? I keep seeing a pair of shoes and a Swiffer in my head!!

According the Fischer Price the bathroom set can not be purchased by itself, although I haven't seen it in the stores yet. I did get the 4 other rooms. I heard the draw-back is that the furniture can not be stored in the house when it is closed. Other than that it has gotten excellent reviews.
