Dopey and meetups...

I've never done a WDW race, but I've read about the runDisney meetups before. Have they been done on friday AM in the past, so if you wanted to do a meetup you couldnt do the 5k? Or have I misread that somewhere?

Friday is going to be the 10K.

My guess is *if* they do a meet up, it will have to be bumped to Thursday- and yes, you'd miss the 5K. So Dopey runners will not be able to do both. Which is what happened this year with unofficial Dopey runners.

Possible they change it to Wed morning to avoid all races since many were upset about paying for 5K and then having to choose between the 2 options.

Typically the meet up is the Friday before the big race weekend.

I would expect that IF they are held this year, you will not be able to attend and run Dopey. They try to clear these meets out before park openings. THough, one could hold the meetup in the World Showcase between 0900 and 1100 and not have guest interference. Maybe focussed in the American Adventure area.

ok, just wanted to make sure i was reading right about previous years. I bet since many of the people that try to get into the meetups also did the goofy, they somehow try to make it so you could do both just for good PR reasons.. Of course I understand that is WAY far away...

The Wine & Dine meetup for 2011 was held at the WWOS and then attendees were taken into the expo before it open to get their packets first.

Anything could happen. I'll register for the race I want to run and then try to make the meetup fit in. The meetups are super-cool, but I wouldn't skip one of the Dopey races to do it.

OK that is what I was getting to. So if for some reason they are the same time, makes it easy to choose
