Hello,
Just came across this update from you guys (Dis/wdwinfo):

"A new addition to this list is that magnetic signs advertising company names other than Disney may not be used."

Found here: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/cruise-new/cr-staterooms.htm#decorating

This got me thinking and searching for DCL's official list of do's and don'ts when it comes to decorating stateroom doors and nearby walls (I hear magnets stick to walls too).

I can read all day long what others know (think) the rules are, but can somone please refer me to the official ***DISNEY CRUISE LINE*** source for this new policy and all the policies regarding door decorating.

Thank you

I would like to see the link to the Official DCL info on this as well. I saw this update referenced on FB a couple of days ago and wasted about an hour fishing around the DCL website for this info, only to turn up nothing. Where is it located?

This is all I could find:
Under Help Support - Prohibited items

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q:

Can I decorate my stateroom door or hang items over the doors?

A:

Guests are welcome to place magnetic signs on their stateroom doors. Please note that Concierge rooms on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy do not have metal doors.

Guests are prohibited from affixing items to stateroom doors utilizing tape or any adhesive, including removable gel adhesives. We have found that these adhesives damage the finish on the stateroom doors and therefore ask that guests limit door decoration to those of the magnetic variety.

Concurrently, we ask that guests not use over-the-door hanging organizers as they have been found to scratch and/or disfigure stateroom doors and trim.

Guests found with damaged doors are assessed a $100 damage fee per incident to cover the cost of repairs.

Me too, I searched for a while, but Dis is the only place I can find it. I am a horses mouth kind of person. I like to read the policy directly from the person/group who is enforcing it, not just another person's summary/interpretation of it.

This is exactly what I already quoted, three posts above yours. It says nothing about only Disney company signs.

I'll be interested to see how this is interpreted and enforced if true. I made some Minecraft themed birthday magnets for my son whose bday is next week while we are on the Wonder. But I won't worry about it until when or if it happens.

There really needs to be a better way to contact the writers of the articles rather than making posts here and hoping they see it.

That notice makes me want to have a magnet (and I'm not into decorating my stateroom door) that says something like...."Welcome to my royal stateroom! We're having a carnival in here, partying like we're in holland. Don't be like Elsa, be Norwegian, but don't be P&O'd if you miss the boat!"

I know it makes absolutely NO sense but still. :)

If it is "official" DCL policy, it should be on DCL's official website and/or in recent cruise docs.

Remote Possibility: Is it possible that it showed up on wdwinfo because PERHAPS someone from Dreams Unlimited sailed recently and put up a magnet advertising Dreams Unlimited, and was then advised that it is not allowed because it is advertising (of a travel company Disney does not own)? If so, that could explain why the Dis/wdwinfo knows about this but we haven't seen it officially elsewhere.

They don't want you to post advertising with a company name on it. If it's for real there is no reason you can't put up Minecraft magnets unless they are advertising Microsoft or whoever owns it now.

That's hilarious!!!:lmao:

Don't hold your breath waiting for DCL to update their website. There is a lot of outdated information tucked away on that. DCL sends TAs information and DU simply updated their site to reflect that. I doubt that you are going to find the letter from DCL anywhere online.

I'm not going to worry about any of these rumors until DCL posts it on their website or I get a letter or email directly from them.

decorating stateroom doors and nearby walls (I hear magnets stick to walls too).

Walls were NOT metal in my Wonder cabin. Doors and Ceiling were metal so I attached flashlights with magnet bases for local lighting that did not disturb cabin mates.

It is great to want to get the information direct from Disney and I would tend to agree with that. However in terms of the website. I have found inconsistencies.

For instance there is the "Cruise Casual" dress code for many nights in the MDR. If you log into the cruise where you schedule activities and such there is a packing list. On the packing list it specifically states.

Dinner attire is "cruise casual," meaning no shorts, swimwear or tank tops.

However, if you just go to the DCL site and look around you will find the following link stating nothing about a restriction on shorts in MRD on Cruise Casual nights. It only states no swimwear or tank tops.

https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/...uise-plans/faqs/onboard-dining/dining-attire/

Now, it is my understanding that the policy recently changed from what I have read here. My point is that just because you read it from the official Disney site (From the horse's (mouse's) mouth), it may not be 100% accurate. Heck even if you called them up and asked the question, doesn't mean you will get the right answer or that the policy won't change between now and when you get on the boat.

To get back on topic, use common sense. If someone wanted to use a Minecraft, Harry Potter or Lego theme, I would doubt there would be any objection. However if you have items on your door advertising your company or trying to sell things, then I could see where they would ask someone to take it down. This is vacation.

They removed the reference to shorts. Because guests were showing up in shorts anyway, and they didn't want to enforce it. I think they really only enforce dress codes at Palo/Remy.

I agree that they are more concerned about advertising than about anybody slapping a photo of a non-Disney property or photos of their family on their door.

I'd bet no one would care if you had a magnet with a small logo on it. But they don't want to see a company business card posted on every stateroom door along the deck. They also probably don't want you to post a "Take one" of your magnetic business cards.

Um...this thread is from 3 years ago.

Dang it! Sucked in again by a link! But I bet they wouldn't care anyway. :)
Especially since there still isn't anything on Disney's site that mentions this. I certainly saw lots of Travel Agents have magnets on their door with their company name and information on our last cruise which was back in October. My guess is that Dreams Unlimited is trying to get competing travel agencies to not post their information.
