Are the cabin doors metal so that a magnet can be attached? I"ve seen the door decorations by Verandah Man. I would like to use a photo hoder like the ones used to attach photos to a refrigerator door. I like the idea that DS will find the door easier. Although if I have enough of those pretty frozen drinks, it may be for me to find the right door.

Verandah Man has my nomination for sweetheart of the DIS board.

If I recall correctly, a magnet will attach to the door (they are metal). I didn't try one to see if it would stick.

Just be sure to put it down real low, that way when you crawl back to the cabin you will be able to see it (after all those pretty frozen drinks)!

Enjoy your cruise.

Just make sure if you put something on your door, it's not something that would upset you if it was taken. During our cruise last August some of the smaller cruise magnets that I had made for other DIS'ers were taken off their door. Yes, it even happens on the Disney ships. The magnets do come in handy however. I had also decorated my Dmom, Dsis, and Dniece's door. One afternoon my Dsis was looking for her cabin and one of the room stewards pointed to my Dsis that her cabin was farther down the hall. One of the magnet designs was also a t-shirt design that I had made for my family, the room steward recognized it and sent my Dsis in the right direction. We had a good laugh about that one later on!!!

I (thanks to the assistance of the "Board Sweetheart" Verandah Man!) made magnets for the doors of our cabins. It did come in quite handy for our children to find the room easier, and yes, with all those frozen drinks (especially in the sun on Castaway Cay) it definitely came in handy!!!!! :cool1:

For Halloween, I took a white "ghost" placemat, wrote on it then added magnets to it for the door. Also I used the "note holder" to attach my black and orange ribbon (made finding our room very easy!).

I kept my verandahman magnet home because I didn't want to lose it! (That to me is valuable!!!!)

I think verandahman enterprises could be the start of a new INSIDE career for our dear New Jersey friend - (sorry about the Eagles, Andy - I was rooting for them too!)

Ms. Linda,

I was just going to post the same question! Great minds think alike!

For those of you who used door magnets, what type of pictures or decorations did you use? I saw Verandah Man's door magnets. They were great - but I'm not that creative or computer savvy! Thanks for your help.

I also have Andy to thank for helping me go in the right direction for making our door magnets for DS's birthday. I found the pictures at http://clipart.disneysites.com/index.php. Just copy what you want to your document & print them out onto the magnetic paper found at Staples or any office supply place. Super easy!!!

I too had the aid of Verandah Man (ain't he sweet?)! He has some really creative designs that I loved!

I got my magnet sheets at Factory Card Outlet. They were very inexpensive there, as I priced them right next door at Staples!

I learned a lot about clips and such by just playing around. I didn't tell my family about ANY of the magnets, nor the t-shirts. I just had a bag of t-shirts for them the morning of the cruise when they were ready to get dressed! They made nice swimsuit coverups! We wore our suits aboard and headed straight to the pool after ressies were in place. I put the magnets on the door while everyone was rushing around to get ressies. They were pleasantly surprised!

One thing I did on the back of the t-shirt that a lot of people complimented was to find a "tour map" of the western caribbean. It showed all the routes and stops of the Magic. At the top I had the caption Our "Magic"al Tour and our first names. It had that "concert shirt" flair!

In December we had a large family group traveling together to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary.

I printed up signs for all the doors that said things like
"My Mom And Dad are celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary"
The sign included a wedding photo and a current photo of my parents.

I did a customized sign for each door based on the relationship to my folks. I printed them out on our ink jet printer and then used a Xyron, which is a simple laminating machine to laiminate them with a magentic backing.

I had a list of cabin numbers for everyone in our party and right after boarding I went around and put all the signs up.

My folks said that were constantly coming up to them to congratulate them after seeing the signs.

We hung the picture of our grandson (Below) on the door with the words "Elijah's Grandma and Grandpa" Our cabin attendant said a lot of people remarked about the cute baby as they walked by. We printed it on regular 8X11 paper, placed it in a plastic sleeve and hung it with magnet strips that have one sticky side, from Wal Mart. Next cruise, Elijah comes with us.

He's far beyond cute!

And a cute idea to boot!!!

(oops! A poet and didn't know it!)

Thanks Andy for the great web site! It is jazzy with the music and I love the fonts.

P.S. Thank you for the postcards for my kiddos too. They absolutely loved them!

You're the best!
