I was just reading the thread about not using adhesives to decorate the stateroom doors. My husband, daughter and I will be going on our first cruise in November to celebrate my daughter's sixth birthday. Door decorating is new to me, I had never heard of it until today - can you please tell me a little more about this? Please share pictures of your decorated doors, I would love to see what it's all about.

:cheer2: THANK YOU :cheer2:

You can have people on the magnets thread make you personalized magnets and you can find magnetic printing paper at Office Depot or on ebay for cheap. I also have magnets representing our state or funny ones I find but be sure to put your cabin number on them as they may walk. I will see if I can find a pic of my door:thumbsup2 My DD will be turning 6 on our cruise in 2011:)
PS I found a pic of my door. Here is one of my fellow Diser's DD's dropping off some goodies!

Dont have any pics, but what we use is a magnet sheet, and find pics or graphics relating to either the DCL ships or characters in cruise attire. Then put them into sometype of document(I Use word) to edit for size etc.,print off, then cut the sheets with a pair of scissors.

Thanks for the responses.

Donald_Quackers - does your friend make and sell these by chance? I am looking for a nice one to indicate that it's my daughter's birthday. Your door looked amazing, so fun.

I chose to print our magnets on regular copy paper, laminate and use magnetic tape on each magnet. You can buy it by the roll at places like Michael's. I bought the laminating machine for just under $90. Laminating kept the magnets nice and flat without damage. Of course, I could have just taken them to Staple's or the like and had them done for a small fee but... whatever. LOL. Be carefull about the magnetic tape. Some brands aren't nearly as magnetically stronge as others. I lucked out and got a good one. Never had to pick a magnet up off the floor! Most (if not all) magnet designs were found/requested on the DISigns board. Check 'em out! Here's some pics of our door/FE....

Time2go2disney - did you use magnetic paper or did you print and apply magnets afterwards?

Keep posting pictures - I love seeing all the great ideas.

Unfortunately not, she's a friend of the family and was doing me a favor, she's creative like that.

I know that there are others on this board that do that stuff, so hopefully one of them comes on here to help.

We had two connecting staterooms. Here's our doors from last falls cruise:

I got into the door decorating thing for my EBTA cruise, not competing, just thought it would be fun. I bought magnetic printer paper on-line but they also had a sale on old unsticky magnetic paper that wasn't for the printer. I had luck printing on regular paper and using rubber cement to stick it on the mag paper. I didn't know they still made the rubber cement stuff but it worked great! I have started collecting all the magnetics in junk mail that get mailed to me and reusing them. Unfortunately I haven't worked out how to post pictures yet. Just be careful because I used a magnet I received for hosting a DCL cruise party and used it and it walked. :confused3 My own fault since I had a feeling this would happen.

So here's my 1st attempt at porting pictures.

Well that didn't work.

Hi there DLBDS, I was wondering where you had your fish extender made? I am looking for a 2 pocket one as well as a 4 pocket one and I really like the look of yours! :)
Thanks!
Betsy

Wow love the door decoration. Another thing to talk w/my sister about & add to the list.

I love the door decorations!! DH is very creative so I'm sure that we could make something good. Is it easier to use the magnatic paper or add magnets to paper that has been laminated? Do you ever have problems with anyone taking your decorations?

Yes, door decorations have disappeared. The more personalized, the less likely. Some folks don't like putting their names on their door signs, but the cabin number will help.

Sometimes they just take a walk down the hall (kids playing games).

Also, what's really cheap and a cute way to decorate your door is to hit up Lowe's or Home Depot's paint isle. Pick up as many of the paint samples in the Disney line as you can. Cut out around the colored mickey heads, slap a small magnetic strip to the back and you have yourself some free/cheap door decorations.

You can use a permanent marker and write names, dates, reasons of celebrating by taking a cruise, etc. on them.

You can see those door decorations in the following pics:

Hi, Betsy.... I wanted to send you a Private Message but when I click on your name it only offers to send you an email so that's what I did. Just want to make sure you get it.....
