Hi there,
Just trying to find out a bit more about this. I have just read bits and pieces in various posts. We travelled last year on the Disney Dream (3 night Bahamas) and I can't remember noticing any decorated doors.
Anyway, can someone provide a bit more info?

People do it on all the ships. Not all people do it though. We usually have a combination of ones we've printed and sometimes find some cute disney themed ones we have bought. My kids love it!

We got a pair of magnets as a gift from a fellow Dis-er. Every time the door opened or closed, they fell off. We often found them on the door across the hall as people would pick them up and place them where they thought they belonged. This was the only time we every had problems with them not being strong enough magnets. My point is to either use magnetic paper for printing or put a good sized piece of magnetic strip on the back.

JMHO, but I think the Dream attracted many 1st time cruisers who are probably not familiar with the idea or maybe they have cruised DCL before but because it's only a 3 nt, didn't do a lot of extra stuff like making magnets. Most of our cruises were 7 nts on the Magic and there were plenty!! We did a 3nt on the Dream in Sept and I think our door was one of perhaps 3 or 4 on the whole ship that had magnets.

I buy magnetic paper that can be sent through my printer. I also have a paper cutter so they look great once finished, again jmho.

There are other threads here on the cruise boards where Disigners will personalize graphics for you. Just save them to your computer and print on magnetic paper.

good luck!! :goodvibes

btw: My dh objected to them at first saying it was corny and couldn't believe I'd "put that crap" on our door. Within 2 days he did a complete 180 and loved it & how easy they made it to find our room.

Here is where you can find some graphics:

We found the info about magnets here on the Disboards and I have to say we LOVE them! It was so much fun letting the kids make list of their favorite characters, then finding pictures and designs that have those characters along with all kinds of other fun stuff. As a bonus, they make a wonderful souvinier after your cruise is over. We found inexpensive magnet sheets online. We printed our pics on regular paper, stuck them to the magnet sheet, then put self stick laminating paper over top before cutting out the shape :)

We had magnets for our door on our December Magic cruise. They had ahard time sticking to our outer door. Too many layers of paint on the door I think. Put most of them up on the inside door.

We loved decorating our door! The girls really enjoyed it.

I print pages on card stock, laminate it and the put a couple of large strips of self-stick magnets on the back.
