Hello, All!

I want to make something to go on the door of my office (I'm the school counselor) that has my name and uses something other than construction paper. Any ideas?

Then put words that you use to encourage the kids ... a teacher I know misspelled words and a few kids saw them ... she rewarded them

a crayon wreath? I have one I made with a wire wreath form, crayons, hot glue, and a colorful ribbon. Then after it was all done I bought one of those small chalk boards and wrote my name- It has lasted for 7 years and still looks great. Let me know if you need more directions.

Have a great school year,

Is it a metal door? Over on the DCL forum there's a thread about designing and printing magnet door signs for the cabins. I have made some myself. I've been thinking about making a magnet sign for my son's 4th grade teacher. I wonder if she would like it.

Thanks for the great suggestions everyone!

-Yes, please tell me more about the crayon wreath.

-No, my door isn't metal. It is made of wood with a retangular window on the left side.

Do they sell removable hooks at Walmart and/or Target? I can't put nails in the door.

I got a couple of boxes of crayons and arranged them by color. I also went to Hobby Lobby and get a wire wreath frame. I then when to work with my glue gun and attached every crayon to the wire frame. I did two layers of the crayons- I did one complete layer and then filled in the areas between the first layer to make it look full. I then bought a small (smaller then a 3 X 5) size chalk board, With a silver sharpie I wrote my name. Next I added a big colorful bow to the top. I attached it with wire. I make my wreath 6 years ago and I have never had to do any repairs. It does take a while to glue everything down ( I think it took me about the same amount of time as my son's afternoon nap). I will try and take a picture tomorrow of it on the door and post. To hang it on the door I got one of those wreath hangers, it just hooks over the door- it is easy to move (I have had 5 classrooms, so I know it works)

Let me know if you have any more questions. Have a great school year!

Would an over the door hook placed off center work? I use those for my Christmas wreaths because I don't want nails in our wood doors.

Zandy, thanks for mentioning printing magnetic door signs. I hadn't even thought about it and I've got a metal classroom door. We can't cover a lot of it because of fire regs.
