We've just got back from our 4th trip to DLRP and unfortunately I think some feedback to some senior people there is needed.

Before I write to them however, I was wondering if anyone else here had views on the following:

  • Increasingly poor maintenance of whole resort - faded paint, overgrown landscaping, broken ride features etc.
  • Where maintenance is now taking place, vast amount is now taking place during the day in public view rather than overnight magic.
  • Staffing at absolute minimum. On rides, at parade times and at desks the amount of CM's seemed significantly lower than I've seen before.
  • Staff attitude
  • Attitude of some guests towards others - generally but also specifically lack of queue discipline (again partially due to lack of CMs).
  • Cityrama and their partnership with Disney.

i think it is good to give disney or any other company feedback be it good or bad.

maintenance is an issue i think they can't win on. the weather in paris means a lot of upkeep is needed but unfortunately it seems they leave till it gets so bad it needs a complete overhaul.

i believe that they do not do regular maintenance overnight as the french laws in realtion to working overnight would make it too expensive.

dlp is not often running at a profit so they do not have the means to do as much as the US parks do.

if a member of staff has been rude to you i would take issue with that. i have never had a problem with cms there. they are laid back, yes but i haven't found anyone to be rude, quite the opposite in my experience.

there is a problem with queues especially for characters. i often feel like the attending cm is not doing his job. i do not however know what that job entails exactly. i don't know if it is dlp's policy to have them organise the waiting people or not. i have seen a few excellent ones who try their best but people do not listen. its a wonder the characters don't get trampled half the time

Anthony I would certainly, from your observations, write to DLP with your concerns, point by point as you have here. I would also ask them to reply to each individual point.

When i stayed at the resort early this year, the parks were pretty quiet so any low staff and issues from this weren't by any means noticeable... and all cast members we came into contact with were great!

As far as other guests were concerned, i did experience on one occasion a one or two members of group of teen boys pushing past me quite aggressively on the walk through an empty space mountain queue area. The other boys stayed behind and looked sorry for their friend's antics...

I think the problem with Disneyland Paris visitors in this case is a combination of the huge influx of teens in giant groups from all across europe on school trips (rather than families ect.) with little supervision from guardians, teachers or cast members for that matter so they tend to go a little crazy. But this is not really a Disney problem... I'd say this is a tourism problem which can happen anywhere.

As far as maintainence is concerned, i noticed no problems whatsoever! Except for maybe so graffitti in the Peter Pan queue. Although, this was my first trip... and I'm sure you've gained a keen eye from your all your trips!

Well I think I've developed a reputation a being Mr. Negative so I might as well join in on the conversation. DLP is treading a very fine line here. Yes they are unprofitable (or at least not very profitable) so they simply cut staff and reduce maintenance assuming that will bring them back into the black. However guests come in and are bothered by the lack of maintenance/staffing and may not come back. By saving a couple of bucks you run the risk of driving away guests. To me it just seems seems like a shortsighted decision, another example of poor management. I'm curious if there will be any noticeable changes now that Meg Crofton is overseeing DLP as well as the American parks.

I really like DLP and really want it grow and be successful but it just seems like they are on a slippery slope.

I would politely e-mail them linking them to this post. I once wrote a review of Alton Towers on-line and linked them to the post. They seemed to feel embarrassed that there were some negative views and were published on the internet for all to see.
