Don't skip the American Adventure!

We stopped at the American Adventure the other day and what an awesome surprise. My kids loved the animatronics, they are so life like and the sets are amazing. Make it a not to be missed stop in the World Showcase when you visit Epcot!

Voices of Liberty were performing on the outdoor stage, so we listened to them while we waited for the American Adventure doors to open. The didn't have us go into the lobby, just directly into the theater.

I probably watch this about 3-4 times when I'm at the world. I usually have to end my trip with this show before I head home.

It's our kids (4 & 9) fave attraction !!! We love it !! My DD9 became fascinated with the history of the presidents because of this attraction !! A good thing !

We skipped it the first few times we visited, not thinking there was much to see. When we finally saw it we didn't know how we missed it and we haven't missed it since.

I've stated it over and over that it is the best show ever produced and add to that the fact that it is mechanical and quite complex mechanically, the AA's are great the backgrounds and the story lines are sometimes heart wrenching. I don't understand how the theater isn't always full. I think that many felt like the OP and that there was nothing there to see. Once you see it, it will not be forgotten.

One of the most ridiculous complaints I have ever heard was the it was to pro-American. I'd argue that point because it didn't just cover good things, the Civil War can hardly be considered a bright spot in American history, and it is the American Pavilion after all. Should it just broadcast our mistakes and not put some emphasis on the good things.

I agree, if you haven't seen it... do so the first chance you get. I doubt you'll be sorry.

I think it's a very well done show, and I would even argue that since it is in the American Pavilion there is nothing wrong with it being very patriotic. I would even agree that newcomers should try to see it if they have the time.

But as to why the theatre isn't full for every showing, I can think of several reasons. First, not all guests are American, and may have no interest in a pro American stage show. Second, it is almost 30 minutes long ( not counting the wait for each show). Guests who are pressed for time on a shorter visit may not want to take that much time for a single attraction. Guests with small children, likewise may not feel that they can sit still for that long for a relatively sedate theatre production. Third, it may not be high on the priority list for repeat visitors who have already seen it multiple times.

Its a nice respite and chance to relax in airconditioned comfort on a hot afternoon. I confess to falling asleep more than once in there.

I think it would be more entertaining to a child than the Hall Of Presidents, but not as entertaining as Country Bear Jamboree. There is a storyline you have to follow and it can be kind of monotone for children.

It's not really 'pro-American' it's more 'what we want you to think the United States is all about', IMO. It's not a true history lesson, more like a fancy commercial for the US. The civil war scene was pathetic, there's only two women in the entire show, and even the statues to the side are stereotypes and gender biased. They should really call it "White Guys' View of the USA".

...and the fact that they don't allow food or drinks inside. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to chug my Samuel Adams that I just bought outside for $7.50 so I can watch a movie. lol

The other thing that is a bummer.... they took away the Fife & Drum Corps... I miss the performances they had out in front of the American Adventure.

American Adventure is one of our favorites and is a must do. We are not huge on the different movies at the other pavilions (they are good, and we do do them at times, just not all of the time) but we will never miss out on watching American Adventure. It never fails, when they start to play the last song, I always get a tear in my eye.

I have the same complaint about the O Canada show. Way too pro-Canada. And the China movie - they focus too much on China in it, which I find unacceptable.

American Adventure is one of my favorites. I always feel so inspired after seeing it. Haha. It's also a great way to escape the heat!

And I also second seeing the Voices of Liberty. They always put on a fantastic show. I went to their Fourth of July concert - WOW. So good. And they do a wonderful Christmas show during the holidays.


The America Pavilion is not to be missed in my opinion. They also have some small exhibits inside which are also worth some time (as are in all the pavilions). I think that's the best part about Epcot - being able to take it slow and take in all the details and history.
