She really thinks Nanny lives with Mickey. We got to the house first in Newport Beach and then about an hour later they pulled up. I ran and opened the back door to get her out and she was shouting, "Nanny, Mickey, Pop-Pop????" She sees me and thinks automatically Mickey is with me. However, she's smart enough to understand when they pick me up at the airport that Mickey didn't come with me at the airport. She knows he's back with Pop-Pop.

She's discovered Belle now ... her first princess she loves. I told her we were going to have breakfast with Belle and she was very excited. I can't wait to see what she does.

So cute! But don't you live with Mickey.... or at least a personal friend of his?!?!

I made it home *insert sad emotion con* Magical depress was really late with my pick up this morning... I had a 7:50am pick up and the bus showed up at about 8:25am... then announced due to his lateness he was dropping off terminal B first because there were people on the bus who needed to check their bags and no one on terminal A side needed to check bags :confused3 So by the time I got to my gate after stopping to get a breakfast samich and a starbucks green tea I only had to wait about 30 mins before boarding. I was seated next to a very confused older woman who refused to give up her bag... she was seated on the aisle opposite me in the first row where there are no bags allowed everything must be put in the overhead... she started to cry she really did not want to put the bag in the overhead... finally the man behind her switched so we could take off!!! Has to have been the most random day I've had leaving Disney yet! I'm now putting all my attention into my September trip :) This trip will be my DH first trip to Disney World :banana::banana:

Dee hope you guys are having a great time and the rains have stayed away! I really really enjoyed meeting you and your family last night! We couldn't have asked for a nicer night for a GGS and some fireworks!!

You're running! :cool1: Congratulations! How did you convince DH? We need a support group now!

Thank you!!! I'm so excited! I think I'm running this on my own, so I definitely need a support group. :) My best friend loves both Disney and running, and really wants to run the PHM together someday. Next year, she will be returning from her family trip to WDW literally a week before PHM, so not going to happen in 2014.

As for DH, he's really wonderful. We've been to Disney so often that he understandably requires breaks, BUT he knows how much I love running and that this is a great motivator during those freezing cold winter months. So he encouraged me to sign up and I'm planning to bring our three boys along.

Are you doing a pre-trip report? Can you recommend good PHM threads?

Narcoossee's was fantastic! Unfortunately dd tried a taste of my lobster and now she's hooked. They also have my very favorite dessert - almond crusted cheesecake.

I didn't see Neil at all - but of course we could have just missed each other!

If Neil isn't there, I hope it's because he was promoted! Too funny about the lobster. Our oldest has developed some pricey tastes and taking him out for dinner has become more expensive than I would have thought. Long gone are the days of mac and cheese kids' meals!

Trying something...

Edited: I now know how to use Photobucket and the Disboard app for photos! I'll post some live pictures... in 17 days, provided I don't forget how between then and now.

Wait - re-post that great photo! Your kids were boogie boarding and I love it! That will be us just one month from today in Newport Beach!

Ok, guys, what do you think? I am in Irvine California today for work. Looks like we will wrap up at 2 pm. I am 12 miles from Disneyland, should I go spend the rest of the afternoon and evening there? I have never been, so have no idea how much a ticket costs. Worth it for just one park, or try to hop in the 10 or so hours I have.

I hope you decided to go!!! I'm probably in the minority, because I'd get a single-park ticket and go to California Adventure. I bet there isn't a single other poster who would make that choice, but I just love that park. OK - please be sure to report back regarding your adventures!

Quick question, I don't have a balcony or view preference but I fear a hallway of mazes or getting stuck next to a noisy elevator. I asked for closest to Epcot for accessibility and I asked for a higher floor because I was worried about ground noise. However, I am starting to fear a hallway of mazes to get in and out of the resort. If there is something else I should specify that would be great. Is a room near Epcot the same as a room rear the back door to Epcot?

Thanks again!

If you're concerned about the hallway, I'd suggest a "close to lobby" request. It's really not that far to Epcot and "close to lobby" does avoid hallways. On the other hand, we've stayed close to Epcot, close to the lobby and lots of places in between. We've enjoyed every one of our rooms and never had any concerns about winding hallways or noise. Each location has its advantages and disadvantages. But that "close to lobby" location is really our favorite.

Guess what!!! We got the magic email! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

It says:

Hello Carroll Family,

As an upcoming Disney Resort hotel Guest, you could help us test a new way to experience Walt Disney World Resort before we share it with the rest of the world. It's a new collection of magical tools we're calling MyMagic+.

Since MyMagic+ is still being developed, we're offering this opportunity for some Guests, like you, to test it out during your upcoming visit and tell us what you think works and where we need to improve. But don't worry, if you decide not to participate in this test, you will still enjoy a great Walt Disney World visit.

It goes on to tell us to do all the things we've all already done on MDE. So, even if we're limited to 3 FP+ (but here's hoping we're not), we're in! Too cool to us not to try! :) (I read the email on my phone at my mother's house where we were having dinner. The boys jumped up and down and I yelled and then called DH who was trying to board a plane for a business trip. Mom now thinks we are crazy.)

I had read elsewhere that the emails went out at 3:00 to guests 17 days away from their arrival date. We're at day 17 and the email arrived at 3:46! So hang in there everyone! I wonder if the entire resort is testing but they're not notifying people until two weeks out in case there's an issue and they want to stop testing.

Now to go back and read the last few pages. I was too excited to stop and read until I told you the news!:flower3:

This is both my DD's favorite movie!! In fact, DD16 is convinced she is going to be Belle one day at WDW!!! Lily is going to be so happy to see her at breakfast.

Every time an airplane flew overhead, she said, "Airplane going to Mickey." She thinks I live with Mickey and knows I come to visit her on an airplane and then she has flown to see us twice so therefore every plane is going to see Mickey.

Wonderful memories Teena. Memories you can cherish forever.

And welcome back to reality Nannette and Robyn. Thanks for the trip reports.

1) Hi to all the new people and the un-lurk-ified. :wave2:

2)Welcome back to all the people returning from trips. Thanks for sharing your trip tips and details! :thumbsup2 We realize you are depressed and barely hanging on but cheer up. The recipe for a Sunken Treasure is lurking somewhere on the first two pages so get to mixing!

Nope... that's the hold up (On the room renovations). The big wigs can't come to a consensus apparently from what I hear.

Oooh... the dreaded "consensus" problem....

As a Quaker wanna be, Ninja Mom knows all about this "consensus" business. I have spent many a school meeting trying to achieve consensus so I am in a good position to give you some tips on:

~ Removing the Road Blocks to CONSENSUS~.

Tip #1: Figure out who is with you and who is against you. Have your next meeting when only those that are with your side can attend. Take a vote and Wha La! You now have consensus!

Tip #2: Involve alcohol!! Quakers don't usually drink, except for those Quaker lushes who are drinking red wine for their heart. Have your next meeting at a restaurant and start off slowly, usually with a 'gate way" liquor like Chablis. After you get one of those white-ish wines into a Quaker you can usually progress pretty quickly to the chocolate Martinis and before you know it those Quakers will be ordering "Sex on the Beach" and tipping the bartenders generously!

Tip #3: Do not be afraid to stare down or otherwise brow beat your opposition. When questioned about the use of this tactic simply reply "There is that of God in every facial expression".

Tip #4: Tis a gift to be simple! Use this Quaker belief to say you simply aren't going to let the opposition's opinions get in your way and you have decided to move forward with out them. Since this is completely unacceptable in keeping with Quaker practices you must quickly resort to tip #2 and drink with your opposition until they become simple and pass out! Quickly take your vote! If questioned about what happened at the next meeting simply shake your head sadly and mention that there is a reason why Quakers should never drink.

So you see, the keys to achieving consensus are Alcohol and holding secret meetings with only the people who agree with you in attendance. This is how Quakers have been (not) getting things done for years! Management at any organization works the same way so these tips should help move along the room renovation planning at top speed.

Good luck and for God's sake remember that as far as renovations go.... TIS A GIFT TO BE SIMPLE!

Hey all,

So I have a question that may have been asked various times before, but we are booked in mid September at Yacht Club and we have water view.

But I've learned from the Unofficial Guide that there are relatively few actual "water" views from this resort. A water view may be of a quiet pool (yuck!) or even a slight piece of the lagoon and not a full on view.

We're going for a birthday celebration and also as a rescheduled trip that was cancelled when my partner's grandmother passed away 18 hours before we were about to get on a plane.

I would love a great water view room, but it seems that is not guaranteed. Only the higher price is guaranteed.

I am not Rockefeller and have been saving for this a long time. They have standard view available for like $60 or more less per night.

Should I switch to standard view and deal with a parking lot, or should I stick to the water view and play roulette on getting a good view?

Any opinions would be helpful.

Thanks!!

What they mean when they say water view is just what you have described above. I'd stick with the water view you have booked and then on your room request I'd put "Need best water view".

The next part of the plan involves you NOT doing on line check in!

Check in only when you get to the resort. While at the desk you can discuss your room assignment with the front desk personnel and see what they have to offer. Remember that you can go and check out your room to see if it meets with your approval after you speak with the front desk check in staff.

If it so happens that the best that the resort has to offer... AT the Time that You check in... does not meet with your expectations then I would go back to the front desk and ask to be down graded to a "Standard view".

Alternately, a really great view often requested by those in the know staying at the Yacht Club is the Wedding Gazebo view. I believe that this would be considered a garden view which is only about $10 more than a standard view.

So that is what I believe the best course of action might be. Others might have better advice so let's hear it from the peanut gallery!

Good luck and stay tuned to this thread for further updates and information!

It would be shipped from an outside vendor. If we have to pay a fee, it is fine. But there is no way I can carry it from the Convention Center over to the Beach Club (yes, we are staying there, thanks).

Hopefully that additional information helps! Thanks for your reply. It helps a lot. :goodvibes

Hopefully you will get a UPS/FedEx tracking number. If so, go to the UPS/FedEx website when you get to your room (if not sooner) to see if the package was delivered. The message light on your phone is supposed to be lit up if you have a package at the Convention Center, but mistakes happen and sometimes it isn't lit up.

If you know your package arrived, press the button on the phone which you would press if your message light were lit. Tell them that you are in the room, you have a heavy package at the Convention Center, and you need the package delivered to your room ASAP. Tell them what's in it. Sometimes at some hotels it takes a long time for a package to be brought to your room. In your case, if they know what's in it, it might speed things along. I'm not sure if it will be brought by a Bell Services person or a Convention Center Office person.

As I mentioned, at the BoardWalk there were a bunch of Bell Services guys just standing around the Bell Services desk when I was in the lobby, so I asked one of them to come with me to the Convention Center and bring the cart. But I have never seen a bunch of Bell Services guys just standing around the Bell Services desk at the Beach Club, so I don't know if this would work there.

About to start packing!!!! We drive to our airport hotel tomorrow afternoon, then Friday at 7:50a.m. it's take off time!!!!

I am so excited to get back " home" that I'm not sure why I should even go to the office tomorrow!!! I'll be useless :)

Have fun :)

Thank you!!! I'm so excited! I think I'm running this on my own, so I definitely need a support group. :) My best friend loves both Disney and running, and really wants to run the PHM together someday. I was trying not to clog up the board with unrelated photos! We were at the beach with friends today and the ocean was the most still I've ever seen it. It was almost eerie, but it was too hot to think much about it.

I didn't follow any PHM threads because I got overwhelmed by conflicting advice -- it was my first race of any sort ever! I have several coworkers who have run it at various times and they were helpful. We can start our own thread and maybe we can meet up that weekend!

Right now I'm trying to coordinate a resort for 7 people. I'm trying to steer everyone towards POR. I think if I wrote a trip report I'd have to call it something like "Herding two cats and four sheep from from five different states to Disney while working full time and training for a half marathon." Of course, the last PHM trip was for 17 people from five states in two resorts, so this one has to be easier, right? :)

I don’t check into the YC until 8/20 but I checked and was able to do Fast Pass + for our whole trip (until the 30th) and customize our bands. I did not get an email yet. I checked the app on my phone and could see the Fast Pass + ressies. It was pretty exciting :). I got my package with luggage tags yesterday. :cool1:

Oh yes. In line for one of my childhood faves: Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. Did the Matterhorn bobsleds and Buzz so far. Waiting for next FP pull. Space Mountain FP is in my pocket, but have almost 4 hours for that one.
