Good morning! I woke up extra early this morning....my body must think I'm in the Eastern time zone! I've got those famous "it's almost time to go to WDW" butterflies in my stomach. We leave in TWO days!

I'm keeping one eye on the weather and Tropical Storm Chantal. There's not much I can do bedside pack our ponchos. Whatever happens, happens. It's beyond my control!

Our estimated time of arrival on Saturday is 11:30am. Woo hoo! I plan on sleeping as soon as we get there...hopefully our room is ready. If its not, I'll be the zombie walking thru SAB looking for a personal belonging-less chair so I can sleep while the kids and my husband frolic in the water. I don't sleep in the car for fear we will wake up dead if I do.

Ninja Mom, I think you are spot on with your trip reporting for Dee! I'm sure she appreciates you doing this for her! You forgot to mention about her tryst with Doug Flutie in the hot tub and made no mention of her drinking in the laundry room....oh that's right, she ran out of clean clothes hence the need to go home!

Why YES! I did forget to mention all those things! I like how the rest of us are jumping in to help fill in the missing details from Dee's imaginary trip report.

Oh my GOODNESS have you guys been busy!! I've missed a few days of lurking/posting and I've got pages and pages to read! :D. I do have news, though...

Drum roll.....

I'm registered for the Princess Half Marathon!!!!

:)

Nice job! :thumbsup2 Having a goal like that will really keep you focused through all that training you'll be doing. Good luck!

NM~where is *your* TR, my dear???:listen:

Ahem.... since we are not writing our own trip reports anymore some one else will have to write it for me. (Where's Buzzy??)

Is the refurb at both BC and BCV?

I have only heard that the fall work is for BC.

Some of our DVC friends might have more info on when work at BCV will happen. I don't pay as much attention to the villas as I should, but I think I remember hearing that ALL villas on property are scheduled for refurb in the near future (maybe a soft refurb- bedding???).

Does that sound familiar, or am I imagining this?

I'm just jealous.... I have to be on my best behavior until they take my gall bladder out! I have many friends who are teachers :teacher: and live the life of a Nun :bride: or Mun (Mun = Male Nun) UNTIL summer vacation hits. Then it's like Sodom and Gomorrah until about the last two weeks of August when they start going back in for in-services and class room preparation.

Have a nice swing on the chandelier for old NM will ya!

~NM

PS I'm busy writing a trip report!.... But it's not necessarily for a trip that I went on, or one that's even happened yet. Stay tuned for further details!

Ugh NM, I had my gb out last October and leading up to it was rough! A piece of baked chicken would send me into orbit. When is your surgery? Life is great now that that thing is out. :-)

The dates sound about right. goofy78- is that from the Disney website or elsewhere?

What we have heard is that the club lounge on the 5th floor of the BC is going to be expanded. The lounge will be relocated to the Presidential Suite while work is done there.

Rooms will undergo refurb- not exactly sure what that entails- but we have been told that it will happen a floor at a time, starting on 5. The CMs will do their best to keep any construction disruption from the guests.

Have not heard anything about the Marketplace or SAB. Parts of SAB will be worked on starting in January. This happens annually. A third of the feature pool is refurbed at a time from Jan to Feb. Two-thirds of the pool remain open through the whole process

Hope that helps for now, but as we learn more, we will post the news

I read on another thread that there was a refurb in October. So I just googled Disney World reburbishments and came up with this.

Peter Pan is cutting it close with being closed for my whole trip. Hopefully it runs on schedule or is completed early. One of my favorites!

I'm excited, scared, freaking out, but mostly very happy. Lots of training to do to get ready, but I've got lots of lead time (8 months). I'm also going on my own - very tough decision. DH and I agreed that having the kids there would make it tough to get the rest I'll need pre and post race, so a solo trip it is. Never thought I'd do Disney without the family! There is a chance that one of my best friends may join me. And if she is, I may consider getting a room at BC. I just can't justify it on my own, especially when we'll have just been there in October, but if it's split two ways...? That might work. It honestly would be so nice to be able to walk back for a restful afternoon at BC after the race is done. If my legs will be able to carry me there by then. :D

K... off to bed if I can quash the excitement enough to fall asleep... :)

Yay! I'll be there but not at BC or YC -- probably POR. The Princess Half is lots of fun! I did it in 2012 using the Jeff Galloway beginner run/walk training plan because I had never run a step in my life, so if I did it, I'm positive anyone else can! :)

In true NM fashion I refused to give up my summer and requested that the surgery be put off until late August! The request was fortunately approved!

For those of you heading to the BC/YC and you are worried about the rain...

Don't forget that the rain brings cooler temps and lower crowds in the parks! Consider revising your touring plan IF the forecast says rain in the afternoon by getting in that swim in Storm Along Bay (SAB) either earlier in the morning or later at night. I think SAB closes at 10:00pm and a dip in the pool or hot tub is perfect after a hard day of touring. The quiet pools have hot tubs that are open pretty much at all hours so keep that in mind as well.

Also I'd like to remind all our rain warriors to consider throwing flip flops in your park back pack and changing from your sneakers when it starts to rain. You'll keep your sneaks dry in the back pack and you'll keep on going while all the other park guests are huddled under the awnings and in the stores waiting out the rain. I love walking by those folks knowing they won't be in line when I get to my next ride!

IF your sneakers don't fit in your back pack you can stop in any Disney store and request a shopping bag to stash them in until you are ready to put them back on!

With a little preparation you can manage quite nicely in the rain and take advantage of the benefits that this circumstance presents!

Just keep swimming!

Just saw you "ran" the Princess. I'm trying to convince my friend to go with me, but she's not sure she can do a half. When you did it in 2012, were there lots of people power walking, too? I've been telling her that if she can at least do a 15 minute mile, she'll be ok.

Yes, lots of walkers! I did the run/walk thing, with about half of it walking and finished easily and felt great afterwards. We (my sister and I) stopped for pictures and interesting things to see too! It was my first race ever! Crazy, I know! I used the Jeff Galloway beginner training plan from runDisney and it was great -- have her look at that!

We (my sisters, BIL's, wife and I) have done the January half for the last five years. I'll even go so far as say there is a lot of latitude with the 16 minute mile. The sweepers at the end do not begin until the last runner crosses the starting lines so that gives you extra sponge time. And trust me. Us guys at the back are not "runners'. Waddlers may be more appropriate.

Oh, I'm sure there will be some waddling going on here, too. :D

I'm using the Galloway program, too. Tried C25k a while back and ended up with really sore knees. Hoping for better results with this one!

Just took a look and I'm at 37 sleeps! OMG! I am going to order my PP+ today.

I called about getting my mailing address changed to my office for all mailings, but something had already gone out! Hope the kids don't see it...

We were at the YC during the 2008 BC refurb. We did have the opportunity to view a newly refurbed BC room during our trip. The areas are definitely cornered off / closed during refurb. Would be little disruption to guests.

Thanks for the thread link and walk down memory lane. Viewed some of my great room view photos first few pages of 2008 thread!

So, it sounds like we can expect the rooms to look nothing like they do now. Hmm. Interesting. It seems awfully soon since the last major rehab, but what do I know?
