I am so excited, me and my husband are looking to take his parents to Disney World and I think we have decided on the Beach Club villas (none of us have every stayed there). We want a 2 bedroom villa for September of 2014 but I can't get anything out of Disney's website  It seems to be that the 2 bedroom villas are unavailable from Feb 2014 till the end of 2014....That can't be possible can it? :confused3

Yes, it can be possible. The BCV is small and only a small percentage are rented out to guests. Most are Vacation Club members that book the rooms with their points. It is also one of the most popular, if not the most popular, of all the Disney Vacation Club properties. CMs that work for the vacation club have told me it is the hardest of all vacation club properties to get a reservation for. I believe the reason it is the most popular is because of SAB and location, location, location.

If you aren't planning on using a kitchen for cooking meals, I would suggest booking two regular rooms over at the YC or BC. And if you want to make it extra special, you can book club level rooms!!

We would never book a one or two bedroom villa unless we were staying a long long time and wanted to actually cook our meals to save money. Who needs a full kitchen on vacation? And although its nice to have a washer and dryer in your own unit, I always pack enough that I'd rather do laundry when I get home. I'd much rather have the hotel room, especially on club level where I get breakfast every morning and the snacks and appetizers and desserts later on and let's not forget the beer and wine. And the itinerary planning office to help make all my reservations for dining and activities is also a nice plus!!

Just my opinion.

Although California (Disneyland) is nice, Christmas at WDW can't compare to Christmas at Disneyland. In Florida you can spend a day just going around to the resorts looking at the holiday decorations. Each resort is special in their own way. Most of them are so wonderful to see. And the different Christmas stories at all the countries ... that can take a whole extra day at Epcot.

Two days, three at most, and you are done in California. You will have seen everything possible to see.

Now if you combine a trip to California with other stuff besides Disneyland and
California Adventure, that would be super fun. But if you are just looking for a holiday at Disney, Florida wins hands down!

I'd have to agree with Teena here. We've traveled to WDW for the Christmas festivities for the past 6 years now, and this year will make it 7! The decorations at all the resorts alone are amazing. One of my favorite features is the Christmas music which plays throughout the WDW property, there's nothing like Frank Sinatra Christmas music.

Thank you very much for your suggestions :goodvibes. The only reason I was looking at villas is that when I ran up the prices with this years dates instead the 2 bedroom villa was like $1000 cheaper than two separate rooms. My Travel agent finally got back to me and informed me that villas are unavailable to general public till 7 or 8 months out....would have been nice if the Disney rep that I spoke to would have told me that but oh well....

See if you can rent points from a DVC member. Usually points can be rented for $12-$14 per point. Check the DVC rental area, and you can get some more details. We rented points once already, and it was a great experience. we are looking to rent points again for our trip next year.
Renting points for DVC from a DVC member can be considerably cheaper than "reserving" a DVC room through Disney.

For September of 2014, you will want to start looking to rent points from a BCV member in October of 2013. BCV DVC Members can book at the 11 month out window. That will give you the best chance of getting a 2bdrm at BCV.

Thank you! I hadn't thought of renting points I will look into that, looks like a whole new round of number crunching for me :teacher:

As a DVC member at the BCV I have to agree that I think this is the way to go for your family group. Especially if you rent DVC points as it becomes very cost effective.
We routinely take my Son and Daughter in Law for a week in a 2 BR Villa. It really is not about the kitchen and laundry for us. But rather a 2 BR Villa enables us to gather together in the LR and enjoy our time together, as well as for each couple to have their own private space to retreat to, when desired. It is far more comfortable to sit on a sofa in the LR, than on a bed in a BC room when visiting together.
We do get a grocery delivery for breakfast foods, juice, coffee, soda, water, beer, wine, cheese and crackers and other snacks. It is nice to relax with a snack and an "adult beverage" before we head out to dinner. And being able to have a quick breakfast in the room before we head out saves us both time and money and is very easy to do. We like having the ability to cook, if we choose to.
I do usually throw a laundry in once during the week - it is so easy and convenient to do. This enables me to pack lighter, which makes DH very happy.
We love the space of the 2 BR Villa.
Good Luck in your decision.

Now our plane has a secondary mechanical issue and we have TWO free round trip tickets each!

But I am starting to worry that we will be canceled. Should I be calling the YC front desk if we can't get out today?

Just think, when you book your next round of flights for free this will all be far behind you and you won't even remember the inconvenience of it all!!

I couldn't agree with you and Teena more. Being at WDW at Christmas time is like seeing it all again for the first time, like a totally new vacation. I have been lucky enough to go the first week of December for a conference the last 6 years and each time I go I get the same goose bumps at each resort and park. By far my favorite time of year to go!

Well, now that we have TWO free tickets, we can do both! :cool1:

Still haven't boarded. If plane can't be fixed, we will be transferred to a Southwest flight that leaves at 7:45...10 hours after our scheduled departure.

You all talked a LOT while I was in DC watching Paul McCartney this weekend! There is no way I can go back and read everything you posted! :rotfl:

I do have a question. My DH had a massive stroke 2 1/2 years ago, and although some things are MUCH improved since then there are a few issues for which we need to plan in advance. We always rent his scooter from the same company (still allowed to deliver on-site ;) ) and we always request certain room locations to make it easier for him. We don't need a HA room, so that is a good thing.

One item that is necessary is his nourishment: He requires 5 cans a day of a particular liquid diet since he has a tube in his stomach. We will need close to 2 cases of that to be delivered to the resort when we arrive. Will we need to pick it up somewhere special and is there a charge for a delivery like that? The box will be heavy (think 2 cases of infant formula  ).

Two tickets!:cheer2: Here's hoping you're long gone by 7:45! I bet it's been a long day in the airport.

So, the good news is that there is 15 days until we arrive. :cool1::cool1::cool1:
The bad news is, like the absolute idiot that I am, I broke my toe yesterday. :sad2::sad2::sad2:
Not the big toe and not the pinkie toe, the third toe, the lowly, undramatic third toe, which, regardless of it's relative unimportance, is required for me to walk normally. AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! I'm a little bummed.
Does anyone have any uplifting, "I broke my toe and danced in the Nutcracker three days later" stories? I have a feeling that you will be able to find me easily on this particular vacation as the fat, old broad swilling Sunken Treasures at SAB all day while her handsome husband, and three remarkably intelligent and beautiful teenage girls tour the "worlds" without her.
Oh pity me fellow dis-ers as I am unconsolable...:sad1:
