I don't like the thrill rides and had been content with milder rides at wdw. I tried Soarin last friday and it's now my favorite ride. I can't say enough good things about it.

We grabbed fast passes before riding it first thing in am, they let us stay on it and ride it again since no one was in line, we then used our fast passes and grabbed another set of fast passes to complete our 4th time riding it by the afternoon. Amazingly enough, all 4 rides were in the front row! Wished the ride was longer!

I'm prone to dizziness and the first time, I felt a little dizzy. I made myself do it again and by the last time I rode it, I was very relaxed and totally into the experience. DD also doesn't like heights and initially, didn't like it but she kept at it and loved it as well!

I also loved it. It was sooooo amazing! We used FP. Had our character dinner at Garden Grill, went on Living In the Land(?) and then Soarin'! DH loved it too. I'm glad I took the recommendations from this site and went to it.

We went on Soarin for the first time yesterday. It has now become our family's favorite attraction!

I'm prone to motion sickness and also afraid of heights, but neither bothered me at all. My only complaint is that it ended. We wanted it to go on and on.

Btw, we didn't get to Epcot until about 11:45. Even though we went right over to get FP, our time didn't start until 5:36.

I am with you on this one.

Soarin is my new favoriate.

I can't take a lot of motion simulators, but this one didn't bother me at all. And the experience is so exhilirating.

Hey Disney are you listening. We need more middle of the road rides like this. Mission Space is too intense and Small World is too mild.

We need a mix of both.

Yes I know small world is a classic, but after the 500th time, it does get a little old.

I could ride soaring all day long!! it's awesome.

It is good, although I wished some of the scenes lasted a bit longer. It seemed like there should have been a better transition between them. I really like the concept, and hope they keep it fresh by changing out the movie every few years. I'd love to soar up to the grand canyon and then over the edge.

I agree, Spartan - they should make a "Soarin' over USA", where you get to fly over the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, Mt.Rushmore, NY City, Vegas, etc. This one only shows CA locations, as it is just like the one at DCA, where they call it "Soarin' over California". But it's still the best simulator ride ever! I would just ONCE like to get in the front row, so I don't have to look at people's feet! Between DCA and Epcot, I've ridden this thing over 10x & always end up in the middle or back, and always off to one side. Just my bad ride placement luck. :-(

Totally agree about the transition. They need to take some magic from the PhilharMagic! Some use of special effects such as a sprinkling of water while flying over the ocean would go a long way! The scent of evergreen in the forest was good but this good ride could be GREAT and I suspect they will fine tune it!

Ok. Ok. Ok. . . . So I really want to go on soarin to see this beautiful ride. My problem is I am afraid of heights. Not so much as the "heights" of the movie.. but the PHYSICAL height that I will be at. I know to ride in the very back, last row. They are the closest to the ground. But how close to the ground are you? Some people say 4 or so feet. Does anyone really know? I could probably handle 10feet... but to sit 40feet in the air in that top row is out of the question. I think I would pass out. hahahahahaha...*wipes away sweat from head*.....

I believe, consistent with the World Showcase theme, it will change to Soarin' over the World within a year or so. I guess they used the film from California because they already had it at DL, just so they could get the ride open more quickly. But I think it's just a placeholder.

:duck: Potential spoilers ahead: I'll describe, in 2 parts, the interior of the room and then what happens when the ride starts below:

Part 1: The interior:

I'm not good at estimating heighths but I don't think it's 40 feet. We sat in the first row, my DD doesn't like heights but she did ok after the first time because she knew what to expect.

The seat is on a bench with about maybe 9 other riders. The seats have arm rests and seat belts, and remind me of sitting on a plane because the seats are narrow. Each row has 3 benches across. The room itself can be compared to a movie theater with the rows facing a large screen. The screen is similar to the width of a theater screen. The screen heighth is a bit more I think, but it's probably not more than 20 feet. I would say 4 feet from the ground for the last row would be a good estimate.

If I were in your shoes, ask a cm at the ride how tall it is and that should ease your mind. You could always fast-pass it, and then change your mind when you see how tall the screen is...

Part 2: The beginning of the ride:

After you sit in your seat, the room darkens and your bench moves swiftly, but gently, up and towards the screen----doesn't move straight up vertically like an elevator-----it's more of a "scoop" and it's about the speed of an elevator. It's a very smooth and safe ride. By the 4th time of riding it, DD was leaning forward in her seat to look down so she could see everything on the screen. We sat in the first row all 4 times.

i do have a fear of heights but i love Soarin' the beginning literally shook me to my boots but soon i relaxed and really enjoyed the total experience. my DS was suprised by my reaction to this ride. i told him that i honestly was nervous but it was a fnatastic experience for me, well him too

i rode it multiple times and by the 3rd time i was leaning over so i wouldnt miss anything. my DS did remark about how brave and darin i was becoming on this ride

a definite must do attraction
