We leave for HHI in 36 days.....and I lost my member ID card:scared1:.

I called today to see if I would actually need it and, as suspected, I will if I want any of the member discounts. I asked the CM if they could send me a new one and she said it will take 6-8 WEEKS!!! Ugh:headache:! I don't know if DH even knows where his card is since he has never used it. The CM told me that I could just "stop in to SSR" (yeah, right....I'll just "pop over" from South Carolina!) and get a new card made up. When I explained that wouldn't be possible, she basically told me that there was nothing she could do. She will put in the order for a new card and I should "keep my fingers crossed" that it arrives before we leave.

I guess I am off to scour the house and try to locate a card.

We both keep ours in our wallets. We have used them in the past for Disney Store discounts when they had those, so we just got in the habit of always carrying them.

Maybe it's in with your DVC stuff, the deeds and POS. Here's some pixiedust: to help you find one of the cards. I heard they are even tightening up on requesting the DVC member card at WDW since they have removed the DVC Member tag from the KTTW cards.

I don't understand--if she told you that can't you have one made up when you check in?

The DVC offices are at SSR. They can give you a temporary card if you stop in there. The OP will be at Hilton Head in SC and not at WDW where SSR is.

The Preview Center at SSR can now print regular plastic membership cards.

This still won't help the OP, she'll be at Hilton Head.

Maybe if you call your guide, they can get the card for you and put it in the mail. I know when I lost my card it took months for me to get it.

No, the reason the cards take so long is because of the provider they use for the cards. It takes that long to get the order placed with the specific information etc. Then the permanent card is sent to you like a credit card. Even if you get it at the sales center, it will be a temporary one.

I know that. My post was only to point out that the Preview Center now issues permanent plastic cards, not temporary ones.

It sounds as though you called MS and got the standard reply.

In our experience at HH, we have never been asked to see the DVC membership card. Our room ID has always been accepted by the local restaurants offering DVC discounts and the resort has always accepted the room ID as proof and applied the member discount for any programs offered.

If you were going to WDW, stopping at the SSR Sales Center would be worthwhile just to make sure you you had a membership card, but not for guests at HH, VB or even AHV. I think you'll be fine at HH even if the card doesn't arrive before you leave for the resort.

Have a great trip! :)

I have been trying since September to get a new card. I have called 4 times. Still nothing.

I lost mine when we moved to our new home last summer. I called MS ~3 weeks before our Feb 9 trip, and it arrived ~2 weeks after I called. Maybe yours will arrive sooner than later.

I'm still looking for it, but this gives me hope!

When we joined and paid our down payment in 9/09 they gave us membership cards on the spot at DVC preview center. We got new ones in the mail later and they are absolutely identical in every way. We carry one set and have the other ones put away for safekeeping, just in case.

Just as a backup, I would go to the Member's website and print out the "Vacation Details" page. This should show your membership #, contract #'s and the details of the next few upcoming vacations. Having the printout should provide enough proof that you are the owner should you get challenged on it, at least for resort discounts. Your room key should suffice for restaurant and other discounts. I too have never been asked to show my member ID card while at HHI so I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I can't think of anything for HH you'll need your member ID for if you're staying at the DVC resort. Certainly the room key will be more than enough for any restaurant or vendor discounts. Even if not staying at the resort one could stop by and get a blank room key or note from the resort for the purpose of the discounts. Also note that many times the restaurants will honor both the discount AND other coupon's or early bird specials but are not obligated to. Twice we've gotten the free salad and 10% discount at the Old Oyster Factory. One other piece of info is that often the resort can get you a reservation at places that don't generally do reservations. Not sure if this works with the DVC resort since they don't have a concierge normally but this worked great on several occasions using the Marriott concierge.

I got my new card in the mail yesterday!!:worship:

It even has the date on it that WE bought our contract. The original card said member since 2/2007, but we bought it resale in 8/2008. My new card has the 8/2008 on it.

The bad news? Now DH can't find his:rotfl2:! Not that he uses it anyways:rotfl:. He can wait for a new one...
