Don't like drops! What should I avoid?

I'm very familiar with what I can and can't ride at WDW since we go there more often. This will be our first trip to DL (well, I was there when I was 3, but I'm not counting on my memory of that trip! :) ) and I'm wondering what I should stay away from if I don't like drops.
Obviously I won't ride California Screaming! But there are some things that they don't have at WDW like the Matterhorn. What is that and does it have drops? Also are there any rides that are different at DL that I might ride at WDW but wouldn't want to at DL. For example, is BTMRR the same at DL or does it have drops? I love it at WDW, but want to make sure it is the same type ride. I've read on here that the Pirates ride at DL has a bigger drop than the WDW one. Is it that bad?

Thanks!

Rides with Drops at DL

Matterhorn
Big Thunder Mountain
Splash Mountain
Space Mountain
Pirates of the Carribean (2 very small baby drops)
Gadgets Go Coaster

You may also not like Indiana Jones ride either.

Rides with Drops at DCA

California Screamin
Maliboomer
Tower of Terror
Mulholland Madness
Grizzly Riven Run (has a small drop but doesn't go down the hill fast at all)

POTC has 2 drops, neither of them are intense.

BTMRR has little drops throughout the ride. It does not have one great big one. It is the same type ride at WDW.

The Matterhorn is a roller coaster that is the first tubular steel roller coaster in the world. It doesn't go very fast at all. There are some small drops that are, literally, just a few inches and you're going so fast you're on to the next twist or turn. Read the Wikipedia entry; it's pretty good: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matterhorn_Bobsleds

I think the pirate's drop is fairly tame but then again I love thrill rides so I don't know how helpful my gauge is. There is a drop yes but it's certainly not at the caliber of say Splash Mountain or California Screamin'.

The Matterhorn does not have a drop but it is quite jerky and twisting turny. I would say BTMRR is fairly similar to WDW's version. There is a slight peak that you drop into that curves more like a rollercoaster than a straight down drop, similar to Space Mtn. You can get a good view of the track on the bridge between Frontierland and Fantasyland to see if it's your thing or not.

As far as other rides are concerned I'd avoid the Maliboomer and ToT but those are obvious drops :rotfl: , other than that you've got your bases covered on rides that include drops. Have fun!

I would say the biggest drop of all the rides that have been mentioned is the Pirates drop, not a big deal though. The only rides I would stay away from if I were afraid of drops:

Splash Mountain
Maliboomer
Sun Wheel
Tower of Terror
California Screamin'
Mulholland Madness
I am leaving Grizzly River Run out of that list because the drop is comparable to Pirates cause you are out in the open and there is light. You are also spinning when dropping so the drop doesn't seem so bad.

I can't handle "drops" either and the POTC ride is no problem. I've also really enjoyed Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and I hate roller coasters. The one ride with a drop that I hated was Mulholland Madness; it jerks you around so much and has a drop too.

yes mulholland madness really jerks you around a lot, the drop isn't that big but the cars are going so fast that even though your ready for the drop, you still get the butterfly sensation, or at least i did.

Definitely stay away from the free-falling side of the Sun Wheel...that is the strangest sensation I have ever experienced. I was actually starting to feel a bit panicky and I usually don't have that type of problem with thrill rides.

My son gave me the GRR is the same as Pirates, and I don't think so! GRR is much bigger in that last drop. I don't even have to scream on Pirates, not only was I screaming but I ran out of air and was still going down on GRR! The spinning while going down just made that worse for me! So if you don't like drops I'd avoid it.

The only thing with drops I go on is Pirates, the rest I have to avoid.

How about the trecherous drops on Peter Pan's Flight? Those can be scary.

Well I love BTMRR and Space Mt at WDW. I did Splash Mt once and survived, but I probably wouldn't put myself through that again. I did Kali River Rapids at AK and that drop was about the limit of what I can enjoy! :) Obviously Pirates is okay even with the drop.
So it sounds like maybe I'd be okay with Matterhorn, BTMRR, Space MT at DL but should stay away from Sunwheel, Mullholand Madness, California Screamin', etc.

Thank you for the advice!!

I'm another ones who doesn't like drops so I avoid Splash Mountain, Maliboomer, Sun Wheel, Tower of Terror, California Screamin' and Mulholland Madness. I do love Thunder Mountain, Matterhorn and Space Mountain.

For some reason Splash Mountain at WDW doesn't seem as bad to me as the one at DL on the couple of times I've rode it.

Hmmm that's weird, I believe both drops are of the same height, might have something to do with the logs then.

I'm really afraid of drops and I avoided going on POTC at WDW for almost 15 years because I was so afraid of it (due to a Disneyland trip when I was little). On my honeymoon in DL I finally conquered my fear of POTC and it really wasn't that bad! It helps to know what the measurements of the falls are - POTC has an 18ft first drop and the second drop is 13 feet.

As for GRR, I was really afraid of the 22 ft drop - but it was a lot of fun and I rode it over and over again!

You couldn't pay me enough to ride Splash though - 5 story drop @ 40mph. No thanks!

I agree - it helps me to know the actual size of the drop. If Pirates is 18 feet and GRR is only 22 then I could probably handle that. Splash was too much for me, though!
I wonder how the 22 foot drop in GRR compares to the drop at Kali River Rapids in AK - anyone know the size of that one?

I checked allearsnet.com, which is where I got the measurements for the other rides, and it doesn't say how long the drop is. It does say that it's similar to the POTC drop in WDW.
