Okay before you laugh my wedding dress is too long and it can't be taken up b/c it has too much embroidery. I found a pair of shoes on ebay I really liked but I lost the auction...what do you think of these?

Depending on gown style it could be taken up at the waist of the gown, but that will not work unless you gown has a waist.

Nope took it to a seamstress, nothing can be done. It can't be taken in, let out, or taken up. The seamstress looked at me and said "I'm not touching that thing with a ten foot pole!" :rotfl2:

I really like them! Infact can I have a web address if possible? They seem perfect to give some height yet if they are spotted won't stand out like a sore thumb. I also find wedge shoes really comfy!

I would definately try another seamstress.

I can see a disaster averted if you can shorten the gown.

Be warned- as I was exiting the coach, the coachmen told me of a bride who fell face-first onto the pavement because of her shoes. On her wedding day. Because of her shoes... catch my drift?

If the gown can't be shortened, I would definately suggest selling it and re-ordering in the correct length..

Not to mention, would you be towering over your hubby? Would that bother you?

I'm far from towering over my DF he's 6'4"

There really is nothing that can be done. The dress was custom made just for me in Canada. I'm stuck and I can't wear heels. I've taken it to 3 seamstresses the last one that won't touch it is the best in town and charges nearly double the cost of everyone else. She told me that I'd better find some high shoes b/c that's all that can be done.

I can't sell my gown. Whoever bought it would have to have the exact same measurements as me...meaning super skinny with the exact same inch measurements. Everything on that dress was handmade and has boning in the top every inch and a half. What it is, is what it is....all I need to do is find super high shoes

I found them on ebay, the seller is "amishoestore" another seller has the same kind of styles and uses the store name "ebectra" Good luck!!! :thumbsup2

I think that the shoes are cute, but if you do decide to go with them then I would practice walking in them with your dress (or at least crinoline) on so that you can get a feel for how you move in them. I'm clumsy and so I practiced a lot in two different pairs until I decided that I would sacrifice the bottom of my dress to the dirt gods for lower heals and comfort.

Thanks! I'll need to take that advice b/c I'm not used to walking in high shoes....especially heels. There is no way I could wear a pair of those.

I think those shoes ROCK!!! I love them!!! One of my closest friends was in a car accident and had a pin in her foot and couldn't wear heels AT ALL...she too was teensy and her fiance was a very big boy and she ended up wearing wedding platforms a lot like those! It was great for the pictures, gave her the right height for the dress, she walked okay in them, but basically she held on to her dad for dear life down the aisle and then on to her husband after the ceremony. She took them off for the reception, and even though her dress did drag, it wasn't too bad really.

Just practice with them and then hang on tight!!! :goodvibes

Thanks sweetie! I'm going to have to whisper to my dad to keep a close eye on me so that he can prevent a fall down the aisle, lol. That would be just my luck

Oh BTW way off topic but just wanted to send hugs to you about all that you're going through with your wedding and DF's first wedding :grouphug:

My concern would be if they are hard to walk in. You don’t want to fall on your wedding day.

I don’t know where you are located, but if you are even somewhat close to Atlanta I can recommend someone who can completely re-make the dress if necessary. I ended up gaining weight before my wedding, and they completely re-made mine, including re-hand embroidering on beads in the part they added. There is nothing they couldn’t fix. That being said, the alterations on my gown cost a fortune. But I didn't have much choice.

To remake my dress would be almost what I paid for it...there's now way I'm spending $2,000. The wedding will be 20-30 minutes tops as I am an intimate. I'm really not all that worried about it

I think the shoes look like they will be perfect for you! Like others have mentioned, just practice and practice and practice walking around with them. I'm sure it will all work out fine and don't forget to get at least one picture of you in your shoes - it will be a great memory :)

That's what my DF said. He was telling me to make sure I get at least one pic in those bad boys so that our kids can look at them and go :scared1:

I'm sure if we ever have any they'll ask why on earth I chose to wear "moon walkers" ;)

They're really cute! I personally can't wear anything with more than a 2" heel without falling over. But that's just me. Besides just walking around in them to practice, I'd suggest trying to go up and down some stairs too. This always works perfect for me because you learn to keep your balance when you lift your foot up in them.

I think those are really cute and will hopefully be the perfect solution. The platforms will be a lot easier than a skinny heel, that's for sure. You'll be walking slow up the aisle so I don't think you'll have to worry about the clip clopping noise.

i actually made a pair very similar to this for my dd when she was a flower girl. i think they are GORGEOUS, i'd wear them for sure.. my one hint would be to buy 2 pairs, one to practice walking in and one to keep clean for the wedding.

If the gown was custom made for you, then whoever made it messed up when they made it too long. Shouldn't they be responsible for fixing it at no additional charge?
