Don't Know What to Do

:confused3OK, DH and I have our trip all planned except for the hotel. Currently, we have two different hotels booked, and we don't know which one to go with. It's just the two of us, we're going over New Years, and have been there once before.

We have a standard room booked at the Disneyland Hotel. We only booked the room, not a package, so i'm not sure if we would get the TTMM or not. We'd only get one morning of early entry out of the three we will be in the park.

We also have a Disney-view room booked at the HoJo. SO much cheaper, so that's a huge plus. We wouldn't get the one extra park hour, but we'd save more than 800 dollars.

I just don't know what to do. The grown up in me says save the money and stay at HoJo. The kid in me wants the whole Disney experience. Any suggestions?

I am having the same dilema for our upcoming trip so we are doing a split stay. We will stay the first 5 days at a Good Neighbor hotel and the last 3 days at a Disney hotel. You didn't say how long your trip is so I don't know if that makes sense for you. If it's not an option I'd say go for HoJos. You can vist DH, and eat at DH, who cares where you actually sleep. My $.02.

I'd go with Hojo's, and use a bit of the $800 to splurge whilst at the Park (Meal at Blue Bayou or Napa Rose? Character breakfast? Expensive souvenir that you've been really, really wanting? Lots of possibilities there...).

If you do stay at Hojo's, I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay...even rooms at the Disneyland Hotel don't have a view of Disneyland!

With any 3 or more day ticket you get one early entry morning even if you are off property. I'd go off property and save the money. On the days that you can't get early entry, get there for the general park entry time. Then head to the parts of the park that weren't open during early entry (New Orleans Square area etc). The early entry people won't be to those parts of the park yet and lines will still be short.

Yes you should get the MM with most 3 + day hoppers, are you AP holders? I say go with HOJO.

As much as I am an advocate for staying onsite (I really am:rolleyes:), for $800 I would stay at Hojo's. The Disney view rooms are very nice and you will appreciate the microwave, second bathroom sink and super large room. Not to mention over the top service. Only your feet will be cursing you at the end of the day when you have to walk that extra block back to your room.;)

Personally, I would go with the DLH. I'm kind of a baby when it comes to my DL trips, because they are so rare, that I like to immerse myself in Disney the entire time. I would rather go every other yr and stay on-site, rather than annually staying off-campus. It's a personal opinion though, and I know everyone has their own.

I went with Costco Travel. Booked at Best Western Anaheim Inn. Have a MM with the 4 day Park Hoppers and also have a Mickey's Morning Madness. The Character Meal is also part of the deal. I would rather have money to spend on other things and be close to the resort.

TTMM is only given with a package. With room-only, you won't get it.

If there's only one Magic Morning during your stay, and you have 3+ day tickets, you'll get the MM from your ticket if you stay at HoJo. If you have APs, you won't get it if staying at HoJo, only onsite.

Unless you only take the monorail in or out, the distances (from esplanade to HoJo parking lot vs esplanade to the big hat at the entrance/exit to DLH grounds) are nearly the same. Especially given the timeframe, I bet the monorail is going to be super-packed, so I know I wouldn't be comfortable only relying on that.

As you walk to and from your room at HoJo, if the park is open, you can hear the music from Disneyland (assuming you're walking on the park side, not the hotel side). I know that's made me happy, b/c I hear it without having to deal with DTD!

I'd stay at HoJo. $800 can take you a LONG way...

MM are associated with park tickets 3 days or longer. They are available TTSS (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday). It doesn't matter where you stay as long as your tickets meet the criteria and you are there when the MM is offered. We stayed off site November 08 and bought a SoCal City Pass and got the MM entry because we had the 3 day Disney Park Hopper as part of the City Pass.

I would stay at HoJo and use the money for other things. $800 goes a long way for food and souveniers. Alternatively, if you want more Disney emersion, check out some of the behind the scene tours.
