I’m due to graduate college in December. My problem? NO CAREER DECISION. My degree will be in Integrative Arts. My problem? I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT I CAN DO WITH IT.

I tried to talk to my school and she pretty much said “I’ll get you an internship at a Theatre” aka in the box office. How is that going to help? I don’t even want to end up working in a Theatre. I want a job I can move around with and can interact with people and can give my opinion and such. I’ve taken public speaking classes and I’m taking a photography class this fall.

The problem is majority of my classes for the major, were in Theatre. I feel like I’m royally screwed and won’t be able to do **** with this degree when I finish. And I feel like I’ve just wasted time. I DO have an Associate’s Degree but that’s in Communications:Performance.

I’m just stumped. I only need the classes I’m taking this fall to be finished. If I switch my major, I’ll be in longer and that means MORE money to pay back.

I just wish I’d had more guidance!!

FYI information about my major: http://inart.psu.edu/homepage/programs.html

don't worry about it. honestly, these days a degree is a degree..it doesn't matter that much what it is any more. obviously some places want specific ones but like anything will get you one up on those who don't have one. like you said no reason to waste money to change it.

I used to work as a financial analyst, and the people I worked with had all different degrees--from business to English to history; I think there was also a dance major too. You are just starting out--a lot of people really don't know what they want when they first graduate. It's a great opportunity to try different fields and find what fits for you. If you see a job that interests you, send in your resume! You can always go to grad school when you find a field you want to learn more in. Good luck, and congratulations on graduating!

I think almost every college kid in the history of forever has had your dilemma at least once while in college. I know I do.

I agree with a previous poster, most jobs now-a-days just want a degree. My mom works for the government and almost everyone in her office has a different degree.
