Don't go to T-Rex about 4 PM!

We had a reservation for T-Rex (that I actually made in line at Big Thunder Mountain) for 3PM. We were running late this whole trip (I was always too optimistic!) so we got there about 4 (I had called to let them know).

Anyway we have to wait at the unmoving line at the hostess for about 20-25 minutes. Why, I ask? Because although they have plenty of tables, the servers are all in a meeting with the manager upstairs and the managers aren't answering their radios. The meeting was supposed to be over at 4. Finally seated about 4:30. They have to get a manager to take my Rainforest Safari Club discount because I have the number stored in Card Star, but not the physical card, and their system does not allow them to look up Rainforest (imagine that will shortly be fixed by Landry's new discount system).

We get the 10% off 4 entrees (about 6.50) of our 6 meals.

On the good side, the food was pretty good, if a little overpriced, and sitting in the Ice Room is always interesting!

My husband is a restaurant manager and always says that's the worst time to go to a lot of restaurants. He always has a pre dinner shift meeting with his staff around 3:45-4:00 too.

1) The only thing I see is a conflict with a staff meeting.
2) This happens at most sitdown eateries, not just WDW.
3) Info must be passed along to staff
. . . food and/or pricing specials for the day
. . . restaurant news
. . . crowd/guest estimates
4) Other than that,
. . . you were late for the ressie, or you would have been seated
. . . you have Card Star, but no requirement for a merchant to belong
. . . managers can't hold a meeting and answer phones
5) So, good advice for staff meeting times.

You miss my point and have other details wrong. The reason they were backed up was because the meeting ended about 4:25 instead of 4:00. They were staffed up until 4:00, but the extra staff they needed starting at 4:00 was in the meeting causing people to wait 25 minutes unnecessarily.

I called and my reservation was on hold. They knew we were late and when we were coming. The people in front of me in the line who were on time for their reservations also were not seated because of the meeting, not because they were late.

Card Star just stores card numbers instead of having the physical card. Being a member is no issue (that just allows companies to send offers). Had it been Rainforest, they could punch in the number to verify my membership. Next year Landry's is going to a new system so they will be able to. As it was, since we were delayed BY THEIR OWN ADMISSION due to a long running meeting, the least they could do is give us the $6 of our $200 bill.

1) I apologize if I misinterpreted your post.
2) Was not intentional.

3) Sometimes eateries will compensate for errs.
4) Other times they won't, especially if it is restaurant-wide.
