Don't FALL, now Hakuna Matata Team!!!

Yep no internet and no cell phone, life was really kinda good .

Dave Glad the class went well.

Did a 5K run this morn at 8500 feet, felt good 1st 1/2 mile I was coughing up crud but cleaned out the lungs. PT test in about 3 weeks.

On the way home ,

Hope Connie is doing well, good job team on hitting the bricks and getting the work outs in.

About 150 miles from home.

Hey Dave the Village People are getting a Star in Hollywood.

Be good have fun , I am excited about getting home.

Hey guys!

I did 5 miles at a comfortable steady 9 mpm pace. It was comfortable and misty.

Sounds like everyone else is doing well!

Scott I still can't believe we are having that conversation over on DisneyRunning about getting kilts for the ToT.

Connie isn't on the IM today so I couldn't check on her.

I had a really hot and humid 4 miles on the hills today. I went at noon instead of my normal early morning. Yucky hot. 1st mile warm-up in 14:18 then 3 miles in 36:00 for a 12 min per mile pace.

I followed it up with a good weight workout and then some pool running.

I'm thinking about doing a race tomorrow morning, not sure which one yet.

Have a wonderful evening y'all.

Hello, Team!

I spoke to Connie this evening. She had an appt today to change her bandages. She still sounds tired. I was a little worried because her DH is going to be hunting in Colorado, but her DD is going to come and stay with her for a few days. Then I will head down that way and get there next Thursday and stay for a couple of days. I'm glad she's not going to try to be by herself!

Scott and Eva, glad to hear you're on the mend. Hopefully you'll be completely recovered soon!

Dave, glad to hear your class is going well!

This has felt like a curiously long week, so I am headed early to bed. I have a walk scheduled for tomorrow morning, my usual Saturday morning 6.5 miles with good friends! I look forward to it each week!

Hello to Sue, Vicky, Denise, Jen, Lynn, Margie and French Lady (sorry, I don't know your "other" name!)! I'm reading all the stuff you guys post, and enjoying it!

Take care!

Hi Kathy thanks for the report on our team leader. Next week when you are at Connie's place I'll IM you guys and say hi.

Going to bed early, sounds really good.

Well guys..I'm exactly 2 weeks away from my first attempt at a half marathon. I talked to a co-worker yesterday that ran it (he did the full) a couple of years ago and he said it's not that bad of a course. He insured me I'd be fine and told me to kick back and have fun. My vacation followed by a feverish sinus infection has made me feel like I'm not training at my capacity, however I've read many times that it's better to under-train than over-train, so I'm sure I'll be fine. I just had hoped that one WISH member was running it other than me. I remember a couple from the boards ran it last year, but I don't remember who. I'll be all alone out there! Training is going well though. I PR's my 6 mile time two days ago and since it was raining, went out for 3.5 yesterday without my watch and felt like I made good time. Today is another rainy 3-4 miles before work then walking or rest tomorrow with a 9 mile LR on Sun or Mon.

Connie - Hope you are feeling a bit better. Take all the meds and call the doctor if you feeling like something is wrong! I called the doctor 3 times during my recovery in April and they took each call very seriously (even though it was my paranoia all three times). I'm glad I called though...doctors make the big bucks for a reason!

Dave - I wish I was running the TOT this year...I told myself last year that I'd do it this year, but when that free dining offer came up I could pass on a Sept visit to the world instead. It'll be great to see the pics of you guys in the kilts though!!!

Scott - Hope you are feeling better!!

Lynn - I know you have told me before, but what kind of dogs do you have?

To the rest of our wonderful team...happy training...happy weekend.

I'm out.
-Eva

Lynn - I know you have told me before, but what kind of dogs do you have?

I'm an idiot! I see your name...it says "Walker of Malamutes". I guess I never really look at those things. I have a husky btw...I loooove malamutes, huskys and wolves!!!

Eva I love your new avatar.

I wish you were doing ToT with us also, it is a good time. Last year at ToT was when we met Robert and Linda, Scott and Lynn and bunches of other WISHers.

The Marathon weekend is the biggy but that weekend is busy, the ToT trip is more relaxed since we are just doing am 8 miler. Yes we will drink and eat to much, but hey we earned that.

I'm off to do a race, see y'all later.

Thanks for the well wishes, getting better slowly, I should have not pushed it yesterday. Ya think I would live and learn, LOL never.

Kathy thanks for the Connie update, poor gal, finding any position of comfort is tough. Do let her know we are pulling for her.

Dave, best of luck to ya on the race, lace um up and burn um up.

We might go to the farmers mkt this morn before we hit the basement hard. I gotta get that project done.

Looks like the disneyrunning.com male uniform may become the kilt. :thumbsup2

Just a quick hello. Today we set up the tent for Miranda's shower. We have a some stuff to do but if I get done in time and I'm not ready to drop, may get in a few miles tonight.

I'll take and post pictures of the queen on her day. There are a few Disney related themes in some of her things - of course-.

Good luck with the race Dave. VR, I'm sure you'll do good on your upcoming 1/2.

I'd post a thread on the Events board to see if anyone else is doing your race - you never know they might not realize another DIS member is going.

Take care, off for my first cup of coffee at 8am - sheesh I'm running late already!

Listened to the weather channel - it sounds like Ike is doing a lot of damage in Texas. We have been getting heavy rains the past two days (and nights) nothing like Texas, but we are under the flood watches here in Michigan. So I will head to the gym in just a few.

Have Fun and Enjoy the precious moments surrounding Miranda's Bridal Shower today, Denise!

:hippie: and all of our weekends Racers - I go with Scott's Lace Um Up and Burn Um Up! :cool1:

Eva, me too on Matt Damon - He probably admires Hilary for condoning ALL of Bill's activities in the White House too! :sad1:

Thanks, Lynn I have decided to send my Minnie Athletic Skirt back and exchange it for the smaller one. I like the sounds of a smaller one but it makes me nervous! :upsidedow

:wave2: Have a Great Day :goodvibes

Hi guys.

Margie, yes go smaller, pretty princesses in tight skirts, MMMMMMMMMMM, long contented sigh there. Ok slap slap, back to business Dave!

I did a 5 mile race this morning. OMG it was hot, I was sweating just walking from the car to the race area, I think the humidity was close to 100%. I was of course walking and this was a run race so I had fears of being last. When we lined up at the start I was really concerned about that, since there was a 1 mile fun walk after the 5 mile run. Most of the competitors about 100 or so were local running club members and WKU students since it was held on the campus hills and then thru town and back.

I hit mile on in 10:56 with one running behind me. Then we hit the famous WKU hills, there football team is called the HillToppers. So the second mile was 22:43, the course leveled out a little and I crossed the 3 mile mark at 33:52, mile 4 was 45:?? I couldn't hear the time good when it was called out. I crossed the finish at 56:57 for an average pace of 11:23 per mile with about 10 or so runners behind me. So I'm pleased with my race and time.

I didn't prepare for this race at all and had a hard workout yesterday instead of the normal rest day I would have before a race. But since it was a run race and spare of the moment anyway it didn't matter.

Have a great weekend y'all.

Racing Panda:hippie:

WOW DAVE great job on the race! So nice when us walkers can leave some of the runners behind. Mark was proud of so many behind us at the recent 5K race that we did.

The heat, what a killer!! Once I get overheated, it takes quite a while for me to overcome the heat and headache that follows. I'm a northerner true and true. Much as I hate winter, I could not live were it's warm most of the time. 20-30 is my kind of work out weather. 50 is a heatwave and above that, has to be at 5am in the dark for me to get any miles in.

Have a good night.

Hope today was a better day for you, Connie! :grouphug:

Heavy Rain - Heavy Rain - And more Heavy Rain - lots of water, street intersection flooded, but no major flooding in this area. The plus side is I had to run some errand so the car is washed now. :upsidedow Tornado Warning - take cover between 4:45 - 5:15pm - one touched down a few miles from here.

Congratulations, Dave! Hot & Humid - Great Time :goodvibe

:hippie: :lmao: The running skirt is in the mail. It pretty much eliminated the disney08 discount - I like runningwarehouse.com they pay the return shipping!

Long bike ride was canceled, so I went to the gym and added miles on their bike. I am getting nervous about getting my walking miles in for Detroit - I am not going for time on this one, but I really need to build up a bit and get some longer distant training miles in. Foot-Foot-Foot :headache:

Dave you rock Way to go you smoked em, totally KEWL!!!!

You need to get a kilt.

Denise, do enjoy the shower.

Scott it appears the kilts might actually happen, I'm suggesting this one with pockets in the black watch color:

http://www.sportkilt.com/departments/mens-sport-kilts/the-works-sport-kilt~1.cfm?afid=1018

We all might consider some weight training since we might have to stomp a ruby team for smarting off to us about our new look.

I'm a tired puppy after the race and then a days work.

Tired Panda:hippie:

The crud I got on the ship is still nagging me with a cough that wont go away. Resting again today, I hate that.

Black Watch very classy. On a historical note, they were issued Khaki Kilts as a DBU.

As a past rugby player, just invite them to drink with ya and all is well.

Note to self. "If rugby team stomping is about to happen, offering a beer is another option".

Today is a rest day for me, two hard workouts in a row makes rest a requirement or I'll be catching a cold or injuring something.

Have a wonderful Sunday y'all.

Resting Panda:hippie:

I so wanted to get a long run in today, this cold has got my lungs burning, will rest and shake this puppy. Frustrated I am, drives me nuts, and that is a short drive.

Fell better Scott, I need you to help me keep the wild princesses in line. They can destroy the civilized world as we know it if we don't provide supervision.
