I found that out during our last trip in august. I went on Buzz with DD7 and when the picture was about to be taken she put out her hand with her thumb and pinky up. When we looked for the picture later it wasn't there - just a blank screen with something like "Zurg has destoyed this photo" (not the exact words but the idea) Didn't know what that was about and thought it was a fluke. DD did the same thing the next time we rode and the same thing happened! This time I asked the cm what had happened with our picture and he said they don't allow any pictures with hand gestures. Interesting...something I never knew! :confused3

So, if you want to be able to see your picture - no hand gestures!! :)

WOW huh! I wish other places did this (not for that type of hand gesture as that sounds kind of stupid of them destroy over that) but b/c I wanted to get a photo when I was @ 6 Flags on Batman but the girl behind me flipped off the camera. I was pretty mad.

I think it's a good policy. It's a shame people feel they have to do that for fun, because it ruins the pictures for everyone else.

I have a great picture of me an my old roomate flipping off the camera on the Anaconda at Kings Dominion. What stupid things we do when we are young and ignorant.

Some friends of mine and I did redeem ourselves on Apollo's Chariot at BG, we're all in power flex poses. Not Fabio with goose guts, but still a keeper.

Well you have to remember that its not only flipping off the camera, but gang signs as well. Even though they can obviously see its your daughter and not a gang member, they can't discriminate regardless of age. Thats when you get a lawsuit.

I wasn't mad about it - it was just something I never thought about!

I didn't know this, either.
Tho there is a recent picture of Nicole Richie with her bf and 2 other friends going down Splash Mountain (or whatever it is called in Disneyland) with one of the guys had done the same hand gesture as your dd, and the picture took! Don't know if it's a paparazzi pic or the pic from the ride itself. But I guess if you are celebrity, they get away with breaking hte rules, anyways.

We made funny faces and they zapped the pic, no hand gestures or anything even close to offensive just a funny face. We thought it was fluke so we tried again and the same thing happened.

Funny faces? We pretended to be asleep and we got our picture still.
We have a picture from years ago that has my father doing a hand gesture like your daughter and we bought the pic. Times have changed...

What if you naturally make goofy faces as the ride drops (or whatever) ? :confused3

I bet that they get tons of pictures of people who don't know that a drop is coming because they're busy taking a picture or chatting. Imagine the looks on their faces!

A couple of weeks ago we saw a picture where the guy did "upside down glasses" with his hands and it got through on EE.
I'll try to explain what I mean - everyone's seen this but it's hard to describe - it's where you make two circles with your index fingers and thumbs then flip your arms over to use them as glasses. Your elbows will be sticking up in the air. We thought it was funny. :lmao: Guess that guesture is okay.

It's probably easier just to ban all gestures in ride pics, since there are so many visitors from so many countries in WDW. A hand signal that is innocent in our country may be offensive to other cultures. For example, our gesture that means "OK" is considered calling someone an a-----e in Brazil. A thumbs up sign is considered "up yours" in the Mideast.

My MIL will only go on ToT once for the ride photo - I would be SO mad if someone ruined it!!

There are some fairly funny (for the right sense of humor) stories about some other things that people have attempted to do for the cameras at WDW; girls lifting their shirts, etc. Those pics are CLEARLY censored for good reason!

thats odd, I did a rockin' hand gesture (you know the index and pinkie finger up) in very clear view on ToT last Tuesday and I could see it.

Many times I've given the peace sign to the carnataurus without a problem. I would never do anything that might ruin a picture.

The guy next to me in RNRC (a stranger) was actually taping with his video camera...yep, CM's greeted him as he got off and our picture was not listed. CM's offered me another ride if I wanted.

Someone recently posted about a website with vulgar pictures from splash mountain -- I'm no prude, but I looked at the site and they were horrible! Now I feel naive -- I never thought such people were at WDW! A "thumbs up" or wave it one thing, but nudity is quite another. Am I the only one horrified by the idea of people flashing themselves on rides???

I have done that on many rides and the pic still holds so I am not sure why they would take that off...sorry it happened, we do all sorts of things (nothing rude or offensive like flipping) but because we ride the rides so much we know where the pic is and enjoy doing something every time and i have always been able to see our pic...
