Don't call me "hun"

No, that is different. And this friend is from Georgia maybe that is the problem.

That's the way it still is in the South. It is completely normal to hear Hun, Hunny, Sweetie, Darling, etc from people you don't know here. However, it isn't done in a condescending way, that's just the way people talk.
:goodvibes

I'm a nurse in an urban hospital.
Being called "Hun" is the least of my worries.
I've been called things where I had to ask the person "Just exactly where on my body is that located?".
:rotfl:
Well I'm definitley a GRITS (girl raised in the south) and it doesn't bother me one bit if used in a friendly way. And trust me - we southern girls will know if it is or isn't.

When life hands you lemons - squeeze 'em into your sweet tea and thank God you're a southern girl :rotfl:
:thumbsup2

Call me hun, babe, sweetheart, sweetie, doll, and I'll like it. :thumbsup2 I call everybody baby, and no one has complained yet, at least not to my face. lol
Same here! Nothing to get my panties in a twist.. I really can think of much worse. ;)

:lmao: I hate grits! ;)
Okay, now THAT'S just plain wrong. Definitely, crossing the line..:rotfl2:

In response to your "confused" smiley, a previous poster mentioned that it was a Georgia thing to call people hun or hon. He is from GA.

Born, bred and living in Mass...hate being called hun by anyone other than my dh. My hairdresser calls her customers hun all the time...and she is the same age as my ds!!! I have heard her calling very elderly women 'hun'...drives me nuts.
My mother-in-law does it as well. She has done that for as long as I can remember. It comes across as very demeaning...and I'm pretty sure she means it that way. She is always calling wait staff 'hun' or 'dear'...same with clerks. When my dh and I first met, and I would run into his mother around town..I would say hello to her. And I would get a 'oh, hello dear' from her. Same as she just said to the deli clerk!! Never calls me dear anymore.

Either use a person's name or don't call them anything.

I also grew up in Mass. lol. I agree with you.

And FTR I also hate grits. Ick. I'll take cream of wheat with a little brown sugar anyday. Grits with butter? Yech. This cheerwine you speak of sounds lovely, though!

With my wife, its "Babe" or "Baby"

Any man who calls her that risks getting his bleep handed to him

I have a friend and her DH calls most women"baby". This is a man that has taken my DD on numerous occasions, out to dinner with them( their DD is my DD's BFF). They have taken her to WDW with them. When she sprained her ankle ice skating, he went to the edge of the rink and carried her a long way, to where we were sitting, he called me the other day because there were cop cars outside my house and my boys were there alone, and told me that he would go down there and make sure everything was ok. My DD spend the night and there was a terrible storm, he sat up all night to make sure there were no tornadoes and make sure that the girls weren't scared.

He can call me baby anytime he wants to, and my DH is secure enough to not mind either.

I understand, he's from Georgia. The confused smiley referred to "maybe that is the problem?;)

DH and I always disagree on grits. He likes butter, salt and pepper. But, I like butter and sugar. Of course, we both love 'em with cheese or gravy.:)

BTW.. I love cream of wheat, too!
