Don't book a 1 bdrm!

We were doomed from the start as we started with a 2 bedroom...no studios for us unless we're desperate! Got to have the washer/dryer!

We enjoy our 1 bedroom too!

Our first year we splurged and had a 2 bedroom and the boys loved it. Our next trip we stayed in a studio and the little one looked around and said "where is our room?":lmao:

Now that they are older, we can get by in a 1 bedroom but we will most likely move up. They dont like to share a bed and I am getting tired of them in the living room. We will need to take less trips anyway so we have plenty of points to move up if we stop taking folks;)

My first visit to WDW was in a OKW studio, but my next visit was a 1 bedroom at SSR - Big difference! :yay: The first trip was as a guest of my sister who was a DVC member - she then proceeded to twist my arm in the most horrible way and forced me to be a DVC member! ;)

My sister did the same thing (arm twister). We stayed with her and DBIL and kids 3 times at OKW 2 bedrooms and they are awesome. We also did one night at Wilderness Lodge Villas and noticed that their 2 BR are even smaller than OKW 2 BR.

DW actually had the opposite thought.
The 1BR had too much space to keep straightened.
Since we were meeting up with relatives in the parks, we never knew if they'd stop by later in the day, thus the room had to look great before leaving every day..

I wish we could stay in a 1 bedroom every time we went!! That would be awesome. We try to stretch out the points we got though, so we can go more often. so we go for 1 splurge trip each year in a 1 bedroom:thumbsup2 , and a couple more in a studio. Hey, if it means more trips then it's :cool1:

When we took my brother's family on their second trip 2 years ago (first trip 2 bdrm) we were arriving late on Friday night. I ended up booking us that night at ASSp. My 8 year old niece got in the room and said "What the heck is this? Where's the kitchen?" We have created a resort snob already!

We are going the end of May for our first trip as DVC members. This is very last minute so we had to take what was available. We have always wanted to stay at BC or BW but all that was available was a studio. We could have gotten a 1 BR at OKW or SS. For this trip it is just DH and myself so we shouldn't be too crowded. Now, after reading some of these comments I am having doubts. Any advice?

I think if it's just you and your DH, you will be very comfortable. It would almost be a waste of points to have a 1 BR for just 2 adults, IMO.

Or you will never be able to go back to a studio! I feel so spoiled now. Even when it is just myself and DH we love the space, and the bed and the tub!!!!

I too have found this to be a problem. After our Spring Break trip this year we have decided to add on in order to accomodate 2 weeks in a 1bdrm. :goodvibes

please keep this thread going:lmao: the more of you that stay in the 1 bedroom leaves more studios for us:rotfl2: and longer trips or more trips:rotfl:

I know if we had children with us, we would book a 1 bedroom, but DH and myself are happy in a studio. DH says he would only want to stay at an OKW 1 bedroom, we did stay once in one, and thought it was terrific!

We do stay in 2 bedrooms (so far all dedicated at VWL) when we come with our DGC and family. Even the DGC love to bathe in the big tub! We'll be in a BC in June, our first experience there. We'll have 4 adults and 3 children staying in one. Our other guests, for a total of 10 adults and 3 children will be joining us in the cottage for a celebration meal. I can't wait:banana:

Me and 2 DF's will be staying in an AKV value 1 bedroom in June before our all family vacation, so I'll be seeing what one of them is like.

Bobbi:goodvibes

PS. I gave this idea, studio vs. 1 bedroom lots of thought on my last stay. If there's a balcony, I'm happy! The little kitchenette is enough to take care of our cooking/eating needs. If I need to wash something I can, but rarely does that happen, and DH would more likely be the one to take care of that. It does help that studios now have DVD players, we did get Narnia on Saturday, of course, we then realized that ABC was playing it as well!

Studios are for desperate measures only :scared1:

Once we went to a one bedroom for DH and I it was the end of studios for us. It's just so much nicer and we usually go in the value seasons so it's not too much of a waste of points. We added on recently too, there is never enough DVC

With kids, it's sure hard to move back down. We're now consistently in a 2BR and it would be tough to go back to a 1BR. We went with our extended family one year and stayed in a Grand Villa. Our kids still view the 2BR as a letdown from the Grand Villa.

We're "slumming" in a BWV studio in September. We've always stayed in 1 or 2 bd with family, but we had enough points left for just DH and me in a studio for a second trip this year. I'm already beginning to feel crowded! And, boy, I'm gonna miss the W/D. But I think we'll survive.:goodvibes

DisFlan

We have just enough points (240) to stay in a 1 br for 5 nights and a studio for three more.

We already had our April vacation at BCV for 5 nights in a 1 br and I am giving a seminar in June at The Yacht Club, so we are staying 4 nights at YC and then three more first time at BWV in a lake view studio. It may be smaller (there are three of us) but the view may make up for it. We do not cook so we do not need the kitchen but after staying in it, I'll see if maybe we just need another 150 points for two full weeks in a 1 br. There seem to be a lot of deals out there on everythng except BCV.

We too are among the NO MORE STUDIO members. We made the mistake of staying in the 1BR for our first trip home several years ago. We tried to stay in a studio the next only to find ourselves unhappy with the arrangements. So, the next couple yrs we worked and struggled...staying in studios then switching to 1BR mid-week. We find this to NOT be our 'cup of tea' either. FFW to this past Feb, finally DH decided we could ADD ON. We've more than dbld our pts. DH is NOT the WDW finatic DS & I are, but really likes AKV & 1BR's. So, now we're all happy!!!

We also made the mistake of staying in a 1 bedroom. We have added more points on once and thinking about more points.

well in a few days we will find out how it is going from a 1 bedroom down to a studio.....at the very least a studio beats going to work :)

How did she do it? :worship: :worship:

I've shared a 2 bedroom with my sisters family and they've decided to tackle all stars by themselves this summer. I've at least given them the Disney bug. :rolleyes1

Why does Disney need marketing when they have us? :rotfl2:
