I might get flamed but please flame on. I was reading a post the other day that disturbed me. A comment was made that why should this Diser allow children to have a spot up front during a parade just because they are kids. I would gladly give up a position for a young prince or princess to have a better view. One person was complaining because they didn't get recognized on there SPECIAL Birthday maybe it was 40. My daughter went on her 9th Birthday and she received all the bells and whistles because she was turning 9. We are a family of 5 with 3 children in the group. Honestly if it were not for our children we wouldn't be traveling to WDW. Maybe I am the exception. Walt Disney created Disney so that children could enjoy and explore the Magic. I saw a dad cuss out a cast member at MK because a Character Meet and Great line was closed and his kid couldn't see Aladin on that go around. I have seen people FREAK out because they couldn't get that ADR that they had to have. I think everyone should take a deep breath and remember that the Magic becomes Unmagical when you go thinking that you are owed something. Step back and enjoy the children as they explore the most Magical Place on Earth. Rant over

I agree with most of what you are saying. I don't think that Disney is just for kids though. My wife and I are going to be going there for our 10th anniversary coming up, and in the future we will likely go without the children some additional times. We also frequently go with the kids. I do think that kids should be allowed to have fun as much as possible and generally speaking I would also move to let a kid have a better view, however, I would not move if the parents were pushy and rude about it, which seems to be the case often. I also don't think that adults should have a bad vacation just so that kids can have a great one, we are all paying to be there. However, people definitely do need to chill out a bit and just enjoy the fact that you are on vacation and in Disney.

I'm sorry. Sorry that you find Disney only for your children.

I don't have children, but I am a teacher, so I do have the mindset of being happy for others (no matter the age, background, culture, ability, etc.). Maybe it's just my nature. Maybe it's my career that has made me this way. People have other views, and so be it.

I also think there is more to enjoy at Disney that watching your children and grandchildren. I hope you can find it one day because Walt Disney created the parks for ALL to enjoy (not just children).

I think everyone can enjoy the parks but I believe they were created and designed for children. If we can just take a step back and a deep breath everyone would have a more relaxing vacation.

Actually no Disney was created because Walt found the fairs that his children wanted to go to boring for him and wanted to create a place where family members of all ages could have fun.

I agree people need to chill out and not freak out on CMs if they don't get special treatment and someone else did that applies no matter what age both parties are though. However most of the time I went to disney it was just adults. The only trip I had chidren was a larger family trip and the youngest were 9, 16, and 17, so not young kids. I also think its wrong for people to make comments that adults shouldn't be in character lines without children and making the line longer for them.

If adults wait for the parade longer and the parents of the children didn't plan and just decide to be pushy no they shouldn't get a spot. However I have definitely let some polite children in front of us for parades. I could see over their heads after all.

I am torn on this one. Allowing a child to sneak in front of me for a better view, no problem. But do I have to do that for every child who tries after they see me let the first one in? Do I have to let the child's parents in front of me too? The child probably will not prevent me from seeing the parade, but a whole group of people will.

Honestly if it were not for our children we wouldn't be traveling to WDW.

DW and I are in our mid-30s and have no children, and we are going to WDW for the first time together this year. So we obviously disagree about this, but there are plenty of people who feel the same way you do.

I think this is a very good and very important point. When we went on our first Disney cruise, I had spent a lot of time on the DCL forum reading about how some people form special bonds with the stateroom hosts. We didn't. Our stateroom host was very good, by seemed to go out of his way to only come when we were not around. Normally, we wouldn't have cared. But hearing about how bonding with their stateroom hosts had made other cruisers trips much more "magical", we were a little bummed. So enjoy reading about the extra magic or pixie dust others may receive on their trip, but remember nothing is guaranteed and it shouldn't ruin your trip if it doesn't happen for you.

Oh No I find WDW VERY Magical and Enjoyable. I enjoy the time I am able to spend with my family. I think a few people believe the world should revolve around them. This of course is the minority but can quickly ruin vacation for someone else.

Need to make a correction as several have pointed out. Disney was created so that families could enjoy and explore the magic together. Families would in fact be the focal point

I was also going to make a comment about adult children, So now because my son is 23, we cant enjoy the parks together anymore? We are still a family, heck, my DH and I are a family and so are those without kids.

Dont apologize, adults get to enjoy WDW also. I will also be getting in line for characters and waiting for a spot for the fireworks and parades.

Adults also get to participate in the magic, with or without kids.
