Done Sleeping Around. Time to Settle Down.

I don’t sleep around anymore. Like an old married person, I’m content with my spouse and no longer wonder what’s out there (bc what I have is pretty darn good, why mess with that?)

So, BWV (especially the std rooms- owner since 2011) and BLT (1bd and larger- owner since 2012) are our go to resorts. I do sometimes think about poly, my only other love, but like an ex who was amazing, it’s fine to pine and even wonder about him, but why cheat on what I know as good enough! Familiarity is my friend...

Lol. Maybe I’m too old....

I'm ok anywhere, but I usually travel with family and it seems like they are all partial to monorail resorts. My original home is/was AKV, but I was 'forced' to buy into a monorail resort to appease the masses, since it was getting harder and harder to book studios at those without the 11mo. window.

Just want to say your post made me laugh...

I'm really happy with our VGF and VGC. Very fortunate to get these when we did. I'm still checking off the resorts before I "settle down" for VGF.

Have not stayed at VGF yet but of the others Boardwalk and Wilderness are at the top of the list, followed closely by Old Key West. We don't drive but if we did, OKW would be number one.

We purchased the two resorts we love and staying at those is a priority for our main trips each year. If we add a trip we may see what else is available for that additional trip. We have a couple resorts we haven’t tried yet, and at least one we have crossed off the list entirely.

So if you have multiple contracts at different resorts, aren't you technically a 'polygamist', and are in fact still "sleeping around"?! :love1:

DW and I only have one contract (BLT), but enjoy the 'swingers' lifestyle on sleeping around with different resorts whenever possible. And if it saves us points, then so much the better. I'm the planner in the family and I am always looking 11/7 months ahead for the next bed to sleep in. So much fun, and please remember to practice safe DVC on your next adventure.

We've stayed at all the WDW DVC except BWV. Our home resort is BLT, and we stay there most often. We love TOWL and the walk to MK.

My favorite DVC room is the dedicated 2BR at VGF. We did a 10 night stay there and it was glorious!

Sorry, don't know how to do quotes...but CaliAdventurer asked about "the stain" ("do dish! Which is the one with the stain?? I love DVC Curious lol")...it was (at the time) Villas at Wilderness Lodge (I guess that would now be Boulder Ridge?)...a CM by the pool was flat-out mean--on three separate mornings (not the same CM)...I wasn't doing anything "wrong"...they wanted me out of the pool (I was the only one there)--at a time when it was officially open. No explanations, just ordered out -- as noted, they were very mean...curt, impolite, refused to answer my question about when I could come back...and as noted, it happened three separate times w/3 different CMs...decided I'd never return to that resort--which, since it's one of the small ones, and I'm not an owner there, is no hardship to anyone! I refuse to let that "bad week" ruin Disney/DVC for me and I've had more wonderful CM experiences than I can count at other DVC resorts, so I just decline to go back there and it's all good...

I'm a relatively newlywed polygamist, and I'm planning to cheat on them next year. I hope my homies don't get jealous.

I use my points based on which contract and home resort they are.

  • SSR are my sleep around points and always have been (I still have never stayed there).
  • VGC are my exclusive use only since it is so hard to ever get in there.
  • And right now, my AKV have been a combination of the two. I have used some there and some at other resorts.
At this point, I think I have stayed at all the WDW resorts except SSR and Copper Creek (and Riviera, but no one has stayed there yet). So far, we have a couple that we love and one that is permanently off the list.

Interesting thread. Like most, I like some resorts more than others but I think they are all amazing places so I don't see how I am going to say goodbye to any of them. I have 5 in my family so I tend to prefer AKV since AK comfortably sleeps 5 in a 1 bdrm and I love chiling on the balcony with the animals. Proximity to MK was more important when my kids were younger (Poly, DWL - my favorite overall, BLT and GF) so I have loved staying at those spots. Epcot/Disney Hollywood Studio proximity resorts are beautiful and nice (BWV, BCV are awesome). They all offer something that others don't, but they are all great.

So while AKV is my go to resort for reasons stated above, I guess I will still continue to sleep around. I love them all.

Does anyone think it'll be much harder to sleep around once the new resorts open up? I'm wondering if the 7mo mark will be impossible in a few years....

I bought enough points for 1 beds, and go on 10+ day trips and split stay. I get bored in one place and like to try all the resorts. My choices I thought would then narrow, but so far only AKL is the one I wouldn’t necessarily book again due to lack of walking outside.
I am very much looking forward to the SSR refurb which looks like it will transform the rooms to a very high standard, and gives me 5 sleep surfaces in a 1 bed for low points.

I LOVE this thread. It was very entertaining and creative. We are also sleep-a -rounders. Carefree and not afraid to roam!! Own SSR and AKV and we love them but we go wherever we feel like when we can get something new and different -many times staying at SSR due to availability. Variety is the spice of life I say keep it new and fresh. And as retirement in Florida looms closer and closer it's only going to get worse!!!! We love our DVC freedom!!!!
