Hi all! My Boyfriend Dan and I (Michelle) are taking our first trip to Disney together in September! We are staying at Sports from 9/15/08 - 9/20/08. Dan and I have been together 4 years and ever since we started dating this is one of the things we have wanted to do together. I can't imagine anyone more fun to go to Disney with! I have been many, many times though my last trip was in 1999/2000 (over NYE). It was my first visit to AK and HS. Dan has only been once or twice, when he was young. He does remember it well though was bummed to hear 20,000 Leagues is gone now.
Anyway, Dan recently got a new job traveling so a few months ago he brought up the prospect of a trip thinking he could use his air and hotel points for at least 1 plane ticket and part of our stay (at the Double Tree or Hampton). We decided that my around Birthday in Sept. would be a good time to go. It would give us time to plan and save up money for tickets, food and whatnot. I really didn't want to stay off site or in a non-Disney hotel. I have only stayed at a resort once and that was my last trip 8 years ago, which I did not plan or pay for. So I started looking into it. I had no clue that there were value resorts and that they were so cheap! After selling Dan on the perks that come with staying not only on-site but at a Disney Resort he was all for it. We also just bought our flights outright. Not worth it to use his miles for such cheap tickets. I also found the dining plan and sold him on that as well. It was all starting to add up though and kind of stressing us out. So I started looking for deals and got quotes from several travel agencies. I had NO CLUE the dining plan was free for the time we would be there! The people at Disney were going to charge us for it! So, I booked with a wonderful lady named Jen at Millstream Travel. Dan is MUCH happier with our final price and so am I!
So, because I obsess about these things I started planning everything right away. Good thing too, I didn't realize dinner reservations booked up so quickly! We are all set though. Dan does need to choose between Brown Derby and California Grill as we have reservations at both but can only afford (on the plan) one. Our schedule (as it stands for now) is:
9/15 (plane lands at 2:46 PM): Epcot - 7:30 Dinner at Tutto then walk around WS and watch Illuminations
9/16: Hollywood - Lunch at Sci-Fi, possibly dinner at Brown Derby. Looking forward most to Muppets, TOT & Rockn Roller Coaster! I LOVE RRC!! Dan is going to flip out. I can't wait! He will go nutz over TOT as well.
9/17: Animal Kingdom - Looking forward to the safari, Everest, Dinosaur and just taking it all in. Not eating in the park. We plan to go DTD and eat at EOS then just putz around.
9/18: Magic Kingdom - Dinner possibly at California Grill. Looking forward to, well, all of it! Haunted Mansion, Peter Pan, Pirates, Space, Buzz, Splash, Small World... Wishes...
9/19 - Epcot - My birthday
! Epcot is both of our faves and I cant wait to spend the entire day/night there! We love all of it. We will be having my b-day dinner at Le Chefs and I am really looking forward to that. I have not been on Soarin before so cant wait to try it out.
9/20 - Our flight leaves at 5:20 PM so we will probably sleep in and go wander around the boardwalk and maybe hit DTD again as we will be out of passes for the parks.
So, now that I have everything planned what am I supposed to do
?!? The waiting is KILLING me! The next 53 days are going to just c r a w l by! I am extremely busy over the summer and every single day is booked solid with my normal 9-5 plus I perform at our local renaissance festival on the weekends but still, I just know the next 2 months are going to take forever!
