If you had to choose between the two, which would you choose and why? We have the option of doing either one but don't have the time to do both. Am looking for suggestions.....

i am planning a trip too so i am of no help.

where are you reserving these? i didn't see a safari and we are traveling in FEB 2011.

Is the character breakfast at Tusker House in the Animal Kingdom. We have been to it before and my kids love it. Just can't decide if we should try something new.

I've never been to the Donald Safari but we did make breakfast reservations there for our upcoming trip. With that said, I went with dinner at Chef Mickey this trip. We love Chef Mickey and wanted to make sure we had either a breakfast or dinner planned there.

If you choose Chef Mickey, I think you will like it. We love the atmosphere and character interaction there. Buffet has a variety of choices which will make everyone happy.

one other thing, I think you need to consider which park, if any, you will be going to afterwards. The advantage of going to Chef Mickey is you can hop on the monorail and go to either MK or Epcot. If you are planning your day in AK around the breakfast then that will work too.

We have done both and I much prefer Tusker House. The food is so much better than it is at Chef Mickey's. Plus you get to see Daisy at Tusker House. She is a hard one to find sometimes! Either one is a fun experience. Enjoy!

:cutie:When we plan a character dining experience it is never really about the food. Soooooo with that in mind the food is NOT anything to write home about at either of these places BUT fun and entertainment wise we like Cheft Mickeys.
My girls love this place and it is very entertaining, you get to see all the classic characters here and they have a portion of your meal where the music will play and everyone can get our of their seats and boogy down. Very cute!!!!

I have had the pleasure of dining at both Chef Mickey's and Tusker House for breakfast and hands down, the food is better at Tusker House. I think the atmosphere is a tie, there is music and particpation parades at both. As far as characters go, I agree with the pp that this i one of he only places to see Daisy and you typically will see Donald, Goofy and Mickey too.

I agree with poster above regarding not going for the food!

For atmosphere, I would chosse Tusker House. Chef Mickey is like your local colorful cafeteria.. Tusker House has a unique theme and the characters are dressed in their safari gear!

As for the food..they are both pretty bad, and I would even lean towards saying that Tusker House food is borderline disgusting...probably the worst meal I had out of 17 my last trip! BUT..on the good side, I did not leave there stuffed and was able to jump into the next 8 hours of walking when I left there! I will go back because my daughter loved the characters and while she is still young, I will say these trips are all about her. In about 10 years, they will be all about me!!:goodvibes

I'd say Chef Mickey's. We prefer the food at Chef Mickey's better, though... the juice and donuts at Tusker we enjoy!
As for the characters.... do you want to see them in their safari outfits, or regular outfits? We prefer Minnie in her polka dot dress, etc! Also, Pluto is a big hit with my family, so we prefer to see him at CM instead of Daisy at TH.
Chef Mickey's just seems more upbeat and fun to us also I suppose than Tusker.

I agree 100%. I have been to both and Tusker House was great. We loved the juice. My daughter was 2 our last trip and loved seeing Daisy. To me I enjoyed the experience here better. However, I don't think you could go wrong at either place. Have fun! :goodvibes

both are great.

the only problem i have had with chef mickeys is that i find people are more reluctant to leave there, so i have had to wait for a table a lot longer when i have gone there. i think it's because people wait for the music to play again so they can enjoy it with the characters once more before leaving. if you choose chef mickeys, i would recommend making an early ADR.

We did Tusker House last January and LOVED it. Thought the food was fantastic and we're somewhat foodies. Great atmosphere. Great characters. Loved the juice. Then near the Safari ride afterwards...it was wonderful!

We did dinner at CM and breakfast at Tusker House. I enjoyed the atmosphere at CM, but it was nice to see Daisy too! I'd go for CM if I had to choose.

I would have to say both are very good! I've already booked my breakfast @ Chef Mickey's and was looking to book Tusker House but wasn't available during my stay. It's all about my boys and I always plan my ADR's on these two if they are available. Just seeing them smiling and having fun beats the taste of the food! Whichever you chose you will be entertained!

I don't think you could go wrong with either. We did both last October and we will be doing both again this month and in December.

We will be going to AK ON my actual birthday and going to Tusker House, Donald's Safari breakfast. I can't wait to try it out and knowing we will be close to the safari makes it that much better.
