Has anyone ever eaten at Donald's Breafastouras in Animal Kingdom? What was it like? Was it a sit down restaurant were you waited on? :Pinkbounc

It is a buffet.

We loved this restaurant and plan on returning on our next trip:earsboy: . The waitstaff is very funny and the kids just loved their antics. The food was pretty good which included a omelet station and just about any other breakfast item you could imagine. (pancakes, sausage, donuts, fresh foot, bagels, bacon, eggs, biscuits & gravy...)

hi:wave:
are you rushed when eating at donlads, also can you get mickey waffles here:D we are only doing one character breakfast and ds7 wants to try those

thanks eve::MinnieMo

We had a not so nice experience there and will probably not be back for awhile. We are not picky people and this is the first Disney restaurant that I would say this about.

First we waited nearly an hour to be seated even though we had a PS. There was a HUGE line (~40 people) just to check in and give your PS! So, we waited about 20 minutes to check in. They had 1 person checking in, but they had 3 people walking up and down the line saying, "Only one person per party needs to stand in line to check in." Now why couldn't they have had 3 people checking in and 1 person walking the line. This annoyed me.

Second, when we finally got seated the waitress said we didn't have time to go to the buffet before the characters came. So we just stayed put. Of course they didn't come for awhile. But the longer we sat there the more afraid we were to go to the buffet because we thought the characters would be there "any minute". I finally went up to the cold buffet (pastries, cereal, fruit) and got us a plate to at least stop the hunger pains while DH sat at the table with the girls.

Third, when we were finally able to go eat, there was a huge line for the hot buffet. There were no clean plates and so everyone had to stand there and wait until they brought out clean plates. This took at least 5 minutes.

So, we didn't have a great experience. I have read others who rave about the place so maybe we hit it on an off day??? We would much rather eat at the Beach club character breakfast. The buffet there was beautiful and the service has been consistently good in our experience.

this a must do for us. We've always had great service, food and character interaction.

The made to order omletes are to die for, and if they aren't busy they will usually cook fried eggs if you ask.

I don't remember mickey waffles, but I do remember the Pooh waffles at Crystal Palace.

Our experience was more like Maggie's. The lines to check in and the lines at the buffet were terrible. It took so long to get through the hot buffet line that we didn't go back for seconds (which is rare for us ::yes:: ) It just seems to have a bad set-up. I don't see why other restaurants such as Crystal Palace can handle large capacities without having a huge wait at the buffet. Plus (no fault of the restaurant), DD was afraid of the dinosaur fossils so stuck to me like glue  .
We didn't hate it or anything- we just thought it was a hassle and will either eat at Tusker House or at our hotel before we get to AK next time.
But others rave about the restaurant, so maybe we chose the wrong time. The characters did look cute in their outfits and this is the only place we saw Donald, so the pictures were worth it.

But both times were one of the earliest PS available. 8:10 and 8:30am. We're going back on this coming trip too.

If you're from an area without Krispy Kreme donuts, they had those on the buffet table last time we went. YUM!

We ate at Donald's last week. We had a 9:00am PS. We were even a tad late b/c we got caught in the opening of the park. There was no wait at all. Food was good and the characters were
great. I pesonally had no complaints. If there were any it was that my dad only ate a plate of Egg Beaters and some fruit and they still charged full price. The waitress didn't offer seconds even though I am sure if he asked he would have gotten them. He had to order the egg beaters seperalty they were not on the buffet. But my son loved it and so did my DD. It was not crowded. We will go back again.

This is a must-do for us every trip, and we always have had a great experience. We've never had to wait to be seated, we never felt rushed, and we always had great CM and character interaction. The food is standard breakfast buffet food, but what we really love is the atmosphere - lots of fun, especially for boys who are a little too old for some of the other character breakfasts.

I'm sorry to hear others have had bad experiences. :( I guess any restaurant can have an off day, but I'm sorry to hear that it happened at one of our favorite places.

For us an 8:10 Ps is the key. Great food, service and character interaction. It's our favorite character breakfast. We like it a lot more than Cheif Mickey or Crystal Palace.

We have never eaten here but have a 8:00 PS for the week of spring break. Hopefully going earlier things will be better. As with all restaurants at Disney, we have found that we may really love one on a visit and the next time it may not be so good. As with life, on any given day it could be a good day or a bad day. Hope we have a good experience. I'll post when we return.

We have eaten there 2 -3 times now & will be making PS's here for our upcoming trip in September. I think any restaurant can have bad days. We find that we get the best character interaction at the character meals when we go at off times. I prefer to go to Donald's on an EMH morning around 10 am after we have done the Safari, Dinosaur & anything else we can fit in. The restaurant tends to be emptying out by then & the characters sometimes come around to our table more than once. This was our experience during a 7 am PS at Chef Mickey's, too. Too early for the restaurant to be packed. :)

You might want to give Donald's a try - the food is always good here. HTH! ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Look, this question gets asked alot. The bottom line is that it seems to get very crowded and busy during peak breakfast hours, but early and late PS's seem to be best for an optimal experience.

We have gone to a late PS, which is what we do at most of the breakfasts, and we absolutely loved Donald's, much more than any other breakfast. We loved the servers, the food (no Mickey Waffles, though), and the atmosphere, but most of all we loved seeing Donald and Mickey in one place. Donald was a lot of fun and we got a lot of time with the characters. We were not rushed, and when the food ran out we asked for more and they brought it right to our table since we were the last seating. I also like doing this as a way to fill up you AK day. It was a highlight for us.

.

Our bad experience occured on a day when we had about a 10:20 am breakfast PS. I do not think this is "peak" breakfast hours. We make all of our PSs for as late a time as possible to serve as a 'brunch' and then we eat an early dinner.

Something I haven't seen addressed here is to make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to get to the restuarant. It is not located in the front of the park. In fact it's a good 10-15 min. walk from the park entrance. We felt like we were running a mini marathon in order to make it on time for our PS's. Not an easy task when our party included age ranges from 2 yr old to 84 yr olds. We did enjoy the meal but it was very crowded!!!
