Don’t drink, low calorie diet, will I enjoy cruising?

DS managed to lose 40 lbs in a month while he was working on a cruise ship (not Disney, but same idea-lots of food). He didn't drink for the month and when he encountered buffets, he went for fruits and vegetables. After that, he was on cruise ships for another 4 years, virtually non-stop, and although he didn't lose any more weight (he didn't try-40 lbs was his goal) he never regained any either. He was working out regularly-nice views on the stair master, overlooking the ocean.
So it CAN be done!

I’m not much of a drinker and I’m really cautious about my weight. Disney cruises are my favorite vacations. I love the customer service! I never have been bored. I get lots of sleep, spend time in the gym, run on deck 5, watch movies, read, watch my youngest play at the pool, etc. Don’t worry.

The shows, the ports and the view are what is drawing me in. Looking at the Magic cruise to key west, Nassau and castaway cay in April for my 50th birthday. I’m really on the fence. I’m not a huge “relaxer”, I’m a go-go-goer

You won't get bored.

I’m considering my first cruise, but as I’m watching DCL videos on YouTube I don’t know if a cruise is going to be fun for me. It seems like there’s just not much to do besides eat tons of food and go to bars in the after hours areas. Sitting in a deck chair would get very boring very quickly

The shows look amazing , though.

Was anyone else worried about being bored but then had an amazing time.

You sound like me. I do not drink. I am not a foodie - I eat to live, I don't live to eat. I don't usually sit out on deck chairs and read a book, and I don't hang out at beaches lying in the sun. When DW said she wanted to take a cruise I was like... Great.... 7 days on a small ship with nothing to do buck sit on a deck chair (a beach without sand) watching a bunch of people drink. I expected to be MISERABLE.

We are now taking our first Disney gold cruise..... We average about 1 ever 18 months or so. I love them! Just look at my profile picture. There is SO MUCH to do. You won't get bored. The ships are absolutely amazing - big, floating marvels of magic.

Don't worry - it's not all drinking and eating!!!

With 3 port days and a shorter cruise I don't think you'll be bored. I love the views when we are out at sea and I never thought I would. We were on the Magic this past summer and never had the time to do half of the activities that I was interested in.

...run on deck 5...
How tough is the deck 5 run? Just asking because I sometimes run on the treadmill in the fitness center. Most of my runs are actually on deck 4 so I have never tried a deck 5 run. Seems like the lifeboats would get in the way.

I don’t drink and eat fairly healthy. I do recall that on one cruise my server kept thinking I wasn’t happy because I ordered the lighter fare. I told him I was just eating choicefully and he understood.
I was never bored. I did run the deck a lot and enjoyed the fresh air too. I’m also an early riser vs a night owl.

I like to drink and I like to eat. I'm a fit person. I'm an obsessive runner. I don't over indulge in the eating or drinking...Ok maybe sometimes I have one beer more then I should have.:drinking1

You might like a cruise that is more port intensive and active such as Alaska, Southern Caribbean or Europe. I have to be in the right frame of mind when I do a Caribbean cruise. I've got to be in the mood to do nothing, but relax. I can't say I've ever been bored.

Some people really get into the activities on the ship. I'm not that person, but for some reason I love to cruise. I think the only way to know is to try it.

There's plenty of do in those ports if you want to do the excursions. I think you can be as go-go on a cruise or do nothing. The go-go may cost a little more.
