Domestic help

when my niece was in high school as a senior, she did this and was paid $10 hour. The place she went was within walking distance down the street from her house so she loved it and they loved having her. She did everything from help get dinner started to unloading the dishwasher and folding laundry to wrapping birthday and Christmas gifts. She did all kinds of things and it was a great situation for her.

I too live in a very rural area where $20/hr is top dollar pay for a person with a degree. However these people also get health insurance, vacation, sick and holiday pay and other various benefits.

I think you should pay at least $15/hr. Also I would make it clear that you are hiring this person as a private contractor, that you are not actually employing them. They should provide you a statement/receipt for services rendered.

I think Klyn is right, the going rate is about $20 per hour. I have cleaners come to my house every other week and pay $80 for about 2.5-3 hrs. They have a 4 hr minimum, so even though it takes them less time, I pay $80. Their rate is $20 per hour.

Sorry, but I agree with another poster. Maybe not everytime but the majority of the weeks I would be finding additional work for them to complete since you are paying by the hour and not by the job.
