Me and my mum are planning on doing this tour in October and I have 2 questions about it.

1. I know the cost of the tour includes a picture of you with the dolphin. Ideally we would both like individual pics and also one of us together with it. Does anyone know if we could have that done - at extra cost if need be?

2. Does anyone know if Disney accept Maestro debit cards when you call to book as I don't have a credit card?

my fh & i did the dolphins in depth tour back in 2003 & it was great, very informative & fun. you only get 1 picture each, there was no option to get other pictures besides that 1. we had our pictures taken together.

as for the debit card i know they take visa & mastercard debit cards but ive never heard of maestro, you could always call & ask if they accept the card though 1-407-w-disney. also try posting the maestro question on the uk board.

please explain - first I heard there were dolphins at disney. My dd loves dolphins.

Get face-to-fin with the dolphins in an amazing aquatic encounter that immerses you in the world of the smart and friendly inhabitants of The Living Seas. Create magical memories as you discover and learn about these amazing denizens of the deep through up-close interaction. You do not need to swim or be SCUBA certified to enjoy this program, but you will need to be at least 13 years of age. All participants under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian participating in the adventure.

Duration: 3 hours
Cost: $150◊ per person

We have booked Dolphins In Depth.
They did not tell us if you need to wear a bathing suit.
Do you?

Also, one in my party is too young - will they be able to see us from anywhere without being involved? Can they watch?

Thank you for your help!!

They provide a wetsuit that you have to wear along with botties. You will be provided with a locker for your clothes and then there are showers for after the tour as you are getting in salt water so you are going to want to rinse off. The only people allowed on the tour are the people who have actually paid to be on the tour. Almost all of the tour is "backstage" so no one other than people on the tour can go backstage.

Do you know if this is a "swim with the dolphins" feature, or something where you get to pet them and take a picture?

I just called Discovery Cove and was disappointed to find out they are totally booked up for our April trip.

If this is a swim with the dolphins program, I might have to inquire about it.

Thanks!

My husband is scheduled to do this on February 6. It was his Christmas present from me to him. They told me you only get waist deep in the water, so it isn't a swim with the dolphins like you might be thinking.

No, you dont get to swim around with the dolphins as in other experiences like discovery cove.. The first part of the tour is learning about conservation and Dolphins in general. You do get to see some of the backstage areas such as labs. For the last 30 min or so, you get to get into waist deep water with them and be able to pet them one at a time. You get to see them do a few tricks and have your picture taken and also get a shirt. Disney is very protective of the dolphins and always say that if for some reason, they do not feel like participating on a given day, that they will not force them to.
Ismaggy, although they provide you with a wet suit, you should bring a bathing suit.

hi does anyone know how far in advance you can book this tour, we are also wanting to do this tour in oct, but are unsure as to when we will be able to book, thanks susie2

I love all this info!!
Ok, so you get in the wetsuit but should wear a baithing suit underneath - correct?
Sounds like so much fun!
Too bad my niece can't watch from afar : (
OH WELL....

Thanks again!

yes you have to wear a swimsuit under the wetsuit disney provides.

it really is a great experience. were doing it again this march with my parents.

While others are not allowed backstage, you *are* visible onstage during the actual interaction. I know this because I saw the tour before we booked it - you can't see much since it takes place at the top of the dolphin tank, but you can definitely see legs and the bottoms of dolphin bodies and if you lean down/look up you can sort of see what's going on:) HTH!

Suzie - I looked this up yesterday and I believe the booking window is 180 days from the date you want. E.g we're wanting to do it on 10/01/06 so we can book any time from 04/04/06.
