I'm thinking of taking this tour this December (either this tour or a day at Discovery Cove :p ... I'm still deciding)

I know you're not allowed to bring cameras, but do the CMs take pictures of you which you can buy later? I know you get a video tape of the experience ... but I wouldn't mind a picture or two as well.

TIA! :p

The latest updating I read on Dolphins In Depth says you now get a picture rather than a video.

That said, I HIGHLY recommend Discovery Cove. If you have a choice between the two, spend the time and money at Discovery Cove. It is a truly awesome experience, as well as a full day of enjoyment. I was astonished at how beautifully done the park is, very lush and tropical. The snorkeling reefs can easily keep you fascinated for hours, and the Dolphin Swim is one of the most incredible experience you'll ever have in Orlando.

Add to that the aviary, where the birds are eager to sit on your hand (or your head!), and the Stingry lagoon, with lots of up-close encounters with those graceful creatures, and you've got a true day of discovery. Money well spent, and memories you will treasure for a lifetime.

Thanks for the reply Cleo :) Sounds like I may just have to take a trip just for DC and SW :p

Right now, I'm having a hard time deciding between the two ... especially since I may take my next trip in December. I'm a little worried that it might be too cold to swim and I've heard that the Dolphin pool can be cold. How much dolphin time did you get when you were at DC?

The dolphin pool IS on the chilly side, but it's not intolerable and when they tell you to do a full immersion and get it over with, they're absolutely right! It helps a lot, and you'll find yourself wanting to be neck-deep in the water most of the time. The day we went it wasn't overly warm, so it will probably be similar for you. Even so, it was a spectacular experience, and the park is so gorgeous it's a shame to miss it.

It seems to me they provided a choice of either a boyant lifevest or a wetsuit. If it's overly chilly go for the wetsuit, which will definitely keep you warmer.

We had about 1/2 hour exclusively with our dolphin (CeeJay was our dolphin, and he's just about as delightful as he can be! It was a real treat to have met him.) It doesn't seem like much time, and it does fly by fast, but it's such an intense experience that you will find yourself remembering it as being much longer.

Discovery Cove is really an all-inclusive experience, with the snorkeling reefs, the stingray reef, the aviary, etc, and don't forget that your meal is included! They have a wonderful selection, too, not just your standard burger/fries/chicken fingers, but some honest to goodness FOOD (and you'll need it! All that snorkeling makes you hungry!).

It's a bit on the pricy side, but if you can swing it, it's truly not to be missed.
