Hey Mike, I upgraded over the New Year's Eve week at the Swan from standard to club level. Starwood told me to call 5 days before my check-in date. 5 days would have been on Christmas day so I called on the 26th. It was put into the system and updated on the starwood reservation page which I printed and took with me. Be careful! Starwood went ahead and used my points for the upgrade and when I got to the Swan I was told I did not have enough points. It took a couple of calls to get it straight and everything was fine once they realized that the points were deducted on the same date as the phone call. Anyway, good luck with your upgrade.
