We are thinking of dropping off our car at the dolphin. If we did that, is there away for us to get to DHS? I know the friendship boats are not running from bc/yc.

Thanks.

Or should we just take it to the car care center?

You do know that it is about a 10 to 15 walk to DHS from the Dolphin?

I thought that Disney was running buses to DHS from the Epcot Resorts while the friendship boats weren't running.

I don't think parking at the Dolphin is any cheaper than parking at the park. Why would you drop the car at the Dolphin?

I am thinking that what you mean is that you intend to return your rental car at the Dolphin? If so, yes, I think that's a great idea.

DHS is only a ten minute, very pleasant walk from the Dolphin. Go out the entrance facing the Boardwalk, cross the bridge toward the Boardwalk, and turn right on the sidewalk after the bridge. There's a very nice path next to the water, and I enjoy this walk on all but the most humid or rainy days. I'd do this over boat or bus every time, but then I like walking.

If someone had mobility issues, I guess the bus would be a better bet.

We are not staying at Dolphin and don't need to park our car. We are returning our rental. We only have a car for 3 days and our return day is our dhs day. I was going to take it to the car care center by MK but the Dolphin would be much closer and they have a National Car rental desk. Sorry for the confusion.

If the boats are not working we could easily do the walk. Thanks!

The boats are running as always. Only the Y&BC dock is closed.

As for the walk, if not using the boat, is about 20 minutes or so.

I just wanted to add that there is no "regular" bus service from the Crescent Lake resorts to DHS.

Bus service from YC and BC to DHS will only be provided until the YC Dock is reopened.:)

We dropped off our rental car to the valet at the Dolphin. They will give you a receipt.

You can then board the Friendship boat at the Swan & Dolphin dock. It is the last stop before heading to DHS. Only the YC/BC dock is closed at this time. There is no bus from the Swolphin to DHS.

Incorrect. No boat access with be available from 2/21/11 thru mid-March from any of the EPCOT area hotels. http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/rehab.htm

Check the link again, that isn't what it says, the rehab only affects the yc/bc as the dock is being repaired. It states that you can't get to DHS, Epcot or the other Ecpot resorts via friendship boats from YC/BC but the friendship boats are still running.

So the OP can take the boat from the Dolphin boat dock or walk to DHS.

I called the Swan yesterday to confirm, boats are running from there, dock refurb for them is complete.

I think the info on that page is poorly formatted. The text does NOT distinguish that it is only for the B&YC dock. It happens to be under the Yacht Club, but it is bulleted with the resorts in general, as if it is an additional note that applies globally. It also doesn't appear under the Beach Club entry, nor that it IS available at other docks. It says "resorts in the area". Sounds to me like the Friendship boats will be unavailable for the duration, so the confusion is understandable.

Elsewhere, it is more specific as saying that it is JUST the Y&BC dock that is affected, and buses will be provided from those two resorts.

We'll find out tomorrow I'm sure.

I called S/D directly since I have 2 stays there in the next 4 weeks & they confirmed that it is ONLY YC/BC dock that is affected. Friendship boats are still running to S/D and BW. Which is actually an advantage to those staying at S/D or BW because it's one less stop to make!

The girl had to laugh, she said people have been calling about this all week. I then had to laugh because I'm thinking "yeah it's a bunch of DIS-ers wanting to clarify the wordingon the WDW site!"

:thumbsup2:)

This also applies to the Boardwalk Inn Dock.:)

There is absolutely NO reason for Disney to close the Swolphin and BWI Docks just because the Yacht Club Dock is going to be refurbed and they aren't going to!:)

Right...even if they were rehabbing the boats, they aren't going to do them all at once. The only reason for a complete closure would be canal/bridge work, or if there is a common safety issue.

ITA it is poorly worded but the boats are running. I tried to edit my post to mention that but kept getting timed out.

Anyway - despite the poor wording it seems to say that you can't get transportation from bc/yc to epcot, DMS and "resorts in the area" meaning from yc/bc to the Epcot resorts.

If you don't read it carefully it does look like service from all the resorts in that area is not available but that isn't the case.
