Hi everyone !
My family and i are booked on the Disney Magic for the western cruise on August 16th 2003 (anyone else ??) and i would like to have all the info possible on the dolphin swim in Cozumel.

We wanted to book it with Disney but i think they only offer the "encounter". So how difficult is it to go there on our own ?
Did someone actually did it and can tell me about the experience?

Should we reserve very early directly with the people in Cozumel?

How would you rate the excursion and is it worth the price ?

Thank you very much for your help:D

DH and I did the dolphin swim and loved every minute of it! We booked directly with the people at the park at dolphindiscovery.com. The swim requires all participants to be 8 yrs old and up. Which is why I assume DCL offers the encounter because younger kids can participate.

We were off the ship early and made our way over to the taxi stand for the ride to Chankanaab (only $10). Our swim was scheduled for 2pm, so it allowed us lots of time to explore the park. We saw the sea lion show and had time to enjoy the beach and snorkel.
On the swim they take you out to the designated area where you start off on a platform in the water. After a kiss and handshake from the dolphins you get into the water for the dorsal fin tow, also you and a partner hold a bar in the air and the dolphins SOAR over! The most amazing part was the foot push! Afterwards the group swam out forming a circle and the dolphins weaved in and out between us where you could just reach out and touch them as they swam by. Our hour just flew by, we were on such a high when it was over, probably the coolest thing I've ever done!

We wholeheartedly recommend the swim, it was an experience of a lifetime! The video and pictures were a little pricey, but you can negotiate on the prices a bit.

We're on the 8/16/03 Magic also. We already booked the swim for 5 of us on 8/20 directly with http://www.dolphindiscovery.com/swim.htm.
You have to pay when you book so it is nice to already have it paid for before you leave. I have a 5 year old that I'm going to book for the encounter through Disney. All the encounter spaces are reserved for the cruise ships and have to be booked through the cruise ships. Good luck and maybe we'll see you there.

I would definately go for the Dolphin Swim. Everything Judy stated before is 100% accurate. It was the most wonderful experience. We bought alot of the pictures, they do a wonderful job. The asking price for the pictures is $14.00, but if you buy several they drop it to $10.00. We saw all the people on the "encounter" and it is nothing compared to the swim. They take a maximum of 8 people, which is nice to get the personal attention. We booked directly with the Dolphin Discovery.

Looks like everyone on the 8/16 cruise is going to see the dolphins:wave:

We haven't decided whether to do the swim or encounter yet but I really want to go play with the dolphins.

Thank you very much everyone, it really helped

I am off to the dolphindiscovery web site to reserve...

We will see you there...;) Just can't wait...talk about thrill of a lifetime !!!

Dolphin Question:

Have you checked out the cancellation policy if you book with Dolphin Discovery directly? I'm just wondering if the ship didn't dock there because of weather or if someone in you group was sick, etc, if you can get your money back?

Good observation...

I will inquire on this and let u know:D

Hi everyone,

FAY RAY just went on the dolphindiscovery web site and it says and i quote :

" Refunds will be made to clients travelling on cruise ships and who are unable to keep their reservation(s) due to late arrival of their cruise ship " unquote.

No mention of anything concerning other reasons not to show up.

So that's it, i sent the form and i am anxiously awaiting a confirmation. If all goes as plan we'll definitly see you there FIRSTCRUISER. :jester:

Good day all,

I got a response from Dolphindiscovery for cancellation, and beside the fact that the ship does not dock at port, there is no other reason they would issue a refund. I inquired with them directly and even if someone is sick, they don't accept cancelation

They do accept them however up to 7 days prior to the day of your activity. Hope this info can help some of you...

We booked anyway and we are so thrilled, espacially my 10 years old daughter !!! We are going to do the swim on wednesday august 20th at 2.00pm WOW !!!

Have a nice day everyone
;)

Hi bigtime

I just got my confirmation back from dolphindiscovery this morning because we are going in august,
and YES you do have to pay the 10.00$ fee to enter the park, even if you're schedule for the dolphin swim.

Hope this help...;)
