I'm planning a trip for me and two daughters (ages 9 and 7, and both are excellent swimmers) to Discovery Cove in May, and I'm really stuck debating between the normal Dolphin Swim or the Trainer for a Day program. It sounds like you just get the 30 minute dolphin swim either way...so I'm not sure it's worth the extra expense? On the other hand, both of my daughters are animal-lovers and perhaps the behind-the-scenes stuff would be worthwhile?

I'm wondering, for those of you that have done both of these, which one would you recommend.

Thanks!

I struggled with the trainer of the day issue last year. The people who have done it - loved it. It is pretty physically demanding I have heard if that makes a difference to you.

There is a second dolphin encounter with the TotD which culminates in a 2-dolphin 2 foot push. We did get to add the second experience alacarte when we went because DC wa not fully booked. It was an experiment and I don't know if they will continue it. We were glad we did the second experience, but the dolphin tow in the standard dolphin swim was more fun.

So I do think the totd experience would be great and we might do that in a number of years when my girls are more grown up. I did feel that the standard experience keeps you pretty busy. We had brought post-cards to write and never got a chance to do them - in fact we never sat on our lounge chairs!
