dolphin swim at discovery cove - how about photos?

I'm doing the dolphin swim with my girlfriend. I got two options. I could either schedule a differente time, so each one of us swim alone and take pictures of the other, or we could go together and buy the picture package. What's the best way to go? How much is the picture package? I need opinions, please!

The dolphin swim is such a fun experience, I think you two should do it together! You will have the opportunity to get pictures each of you kissing and swimming with the dolphin and then you can get one with the two of you and the dolphin. The pictures are great and there are a few different packages to choose from. I recommend doing the swim together, I think it is such a memorable experience and the professional photos are fabulous. The photographers are in the water with you and get close shots, if you do it separately, one of you will be on the beach taking the pictures and won't be able to get as close as you may want to. I am working with the park, so if you have any other questions before you go, I would be happy to help you.

I go to Discovery Cove almost every year now. Just buy the picture package. Like happylittlebirdie said they make you sit on the beach if you are not part of the experience and the pictures you will take will not be nearly as good as the ones of the photographer 2 feet in front of you. I always have such a great time there. Make sure you pet the barking deer in the aviary! They are my favorite.

The aviary is one of my favorites too! There are over 250 exotic birds there from all over the world. They are so friendly too, they sit on your shoulder, head or hand - the trainers provide cups of food for you to hold for the birds to eat from. You can get great pictures with them!

I have a great picture of one pooping on my hand....Yeah, the love! My face is CLASSIC! I don't think my friend could have more perfect timing!

That is awesome! I have some great pictures of me at Discovery Cove too with Dixie the dolphin and the birds in the aviary! The animal interactions there provide classic memories. Do you have the picture to post here? I would love to see it!

I love your pictures! We have similar ones of each of us kissing the dolphin, swimming with the dolphin and a group shot. Did you get any in the aviary?

No, I didn't. After the dolphin swim the camera gear was put away.

And BTW, to opine on the original question, do let the photographers take the pictures and experience the dolphins together. Their shots are highly likely to be much better than you can do (they do it all day long), and besides, you're there to relax and have fun. Let them do the work.

I agree, definitely do it together (way more fun) and buy the picture package.

There are several photo packages (not sure if they're listed somewhere online so that you can look ahead of time...) Anyway we bough the advance package, came with a whole bunch of different sized photos (we could choose which photo we wanted for each size print(s)) and the CD of all photos, and 2 keychains with photos on them and it cost $135, and then we bought the dvd for $50 (sigh... I know), so our total came to just under $200. But it was a once in a lifetime thing for us, so totally worth it!! Oh and we had photos taken in the sting ray lagoon too. Too bad not in the aviary We should have been more assertive, since we knew we were buying the full package and gotten the photographers to come with us. So if you do go for the complete photo package make sure that you tell the photographers so they snap lots of photos!

Great advice! You got the larger package, there is another package also that offers 3 6x8 photos, 1 4x6, 2 key chains and 2 wallets. Both are great options, the pictures we have came out beautifully!

Very true Echie, to get more pictures you need to approach the photographers and let them know you want pictures. Some of them will take pictures and then approach you for a picture of your pass so they can find them later but most of them stand to the side. I think it is because they don't want to feel like they are paparazzi all over you on what is to be a relaxing day and I can appreciate that.

I agree and appreciate that too. The photographers are definately everywhere to take your pictures if you want them at that time to make the experience memorable for you. They help make it a great experience!
