Hello,
First time at the Dolphin for June.

I'm about to book a room (STANDARD) and I'm wondering what type of "selection" I'll have as far as requesting a specific room.

I'm wanting something QUIET bc my son will probably nap mid day.
I'd LOVE a room with a view but I assume that won't be an option when paying for a standard room?

The only thing I read in the Unofficial Guide is to stay away from the rooms where you hear the ferry and rooms that face the dolphin fountain (bc of the water noise).

Can anyone offer any advice as far as WHAT and HOW to request specific rooms when booking?

TIA!!!

The standard rooms are facing the parking lot . The rooms where you will hear the boat whistle noise etc are all facing the Boarwalk etc. so I dont think that will be an issue since you are paying for a standard but if the rooms are not all booked, they will probally upgrade you so just tell them that you would like a standard room in a quiet location

We just kept the blinds closed the entire time, and didn't even care. The Dolphin has so many other positives that the view just didn't matter.

The Dolphin is often booked solid from conventions, so upgrading/switching rooms is sometimes not an option. Good luck!

Was this room noisy? Must have been as there seems to be so much construction, vehicles going on outside :confused3

I'm sorry but that room cannot be the typical standard room view. If I walked into my room and saw that I'd be walking right back down to the front desk to tell them to move me. I have a feeling that shot won't give the OP a true representation of the room views. The Dolphin is a HUGE resort perhaps there are other standard views.

Yes it was noisy early in the morning & throughout the day. There was a crane that beeped every time it moved & that was annoying! It did wake us up earlier than planned on 2 mornings.

There were about 8 floors up and 10 rooms wide of windows that faced this exact view, so that's 80 rooms have this shot as well! I'm guessing they're all standard view, anything else would be a shame to pay extra for! It seemed to be some type of service entrance, possibly to the convention/banquet area. The construction was just an added bonus :thumbsup2. I'm not one to complain about getting what I paid for. I booked standarnd, I got standard. The hotel was full to capacity anyway, I tired to check in a day early & had no luck.
