Hi! I am grateful that we have reservations at the Dolphin and are staying in a double-double w/ sofa bed larger alcove room connected to a king bedroom for my family is 5 (2 teens and a 9 year-old) and 2 senior parents, thanks to a “stay connected” for families and senior discount rate. It’s considered “limited view.” My husband is upset about the price, but it’s actually less than the Drury hotel, many other offsite options, and 2 garden view connected rooms at POFQ with a 25% off discount for the room and resort fee. Once I add the parking, it’s $15 more.

I moved us here for the Extended Epcot hours on Monday and walkability to Epcot. If we can get in our wish list on Sunday night at MK, I may change Tuesday, our last one, to HS. Access to HS and EP is amazing here (Dolphin, Swan, Swan Reserve) and even moreso from Disney’s BWI, BC, and YC-all of which would cost almost double the price of this rate at thr Dolphin.

I requested to be near an elevator and the lobby, as I think that means we can get out to walk or take the boat to Epcot more quickly and maybe even have lunch by the pool on Monday with the Epcot extended hours. I know requests are only requests-not guarantees.

What would you request?

I know the hotel was built in 1990 and the bathrooms have a single vanity and are really small, but have the rooms in one area or of a certain type been refurbished to a degree? I’m hoping not to have the problem others complain about of having a moldy smelling room or being at the end of a very long hallway.

Besides two complaints about ants and fire ants, other complaints people made in reviews of the Dolphin are not a concern (valet, bellhop, cleaning, or room service), as we clean up our own rooms and won’t use other services-will request be glad to come pick up extra towels if we need them.

Should I also request a high floor? Thank you for any suggestions you might have!

You have an alcove room connecting to a King room.

JMO, a room request might be.a waste of time. How many connecting rooms in that category are likely to be available?

I'd opt for earliest available.

Thanks for your thought!

I wonder if anyone knows how I can see a room configuration map, as I had a king w/ sofa bed alcove connected to a 2 doubles room for the same price and think that’s still available-so I’d consider changing the room types of that led to better chances of avoiding a less updated room or a very long and convoluted trip down maze-like hallways.

We are headed to MK as soon as we can get there from my daughter’s 7.5 K swim in Sarasota that morning and won’t arrive until 2 or later, so we won’t mind waiting for a better located room until later in the evening since we don’t intend to return (or maybe even physically go to the hotel) until after MK closes. It’s a short 2 night stay with a park visit each day.

We may have to forego stopping in the room to unpack until late that night, but I wonder if I should stop by the front desk to check room availability and ask to wait for a better location, check in online, or call.

Thank you again for your advice!
